What's the best edition of Shakespeare complete works for me /lit/?
I don't want 3/4 of the page as notes like the Arden individuals and I don't want endnotes. What's a good edition with footnotes or side by side?
Is the RSC Shakespeare any good? It's cheap.
I use norton shakespeare.
It has about 200 pages of writing on shakespeare and each work has a 2-6 page introduction on them as well as footnotes/definitions of archaic words.
It cost me $9 used so it's pretty cheap and plentiful online.

I saw the norton complete and it's a little bit expensive but not unaffordable. Sounds exactly like what I'm going for. Sadly I have to limit myself to bookdepository since I'm in South America. Amazon is an option for big, heavy books like this one (if not bd is way less expensive) but used books don't have interational shipping.
I'd still like some insight regarding RSC though.

I know something like this would belong on /mu/ but as far as I know I'm the only spoken word artist on 4chan and I wanted some people who actually care about pros to give me some feedback. Please be harsh in your critiques!

Which languages (other than English) are the most widely represented in the canon?
Which language should i learn if a large part of my purpose in learning it is to be able to read beautiful transcendent literature untranslated? What would be the most useful
I'm sure latin and greek are both safe, but I'd like to learn Russian or german or something.
Italian or spanish for catholic cred
>>9885237
Italian also allows you to go into Latin fairly easily.
I want to learn French. Where do I start?
Does class mean the same thing as biological niche? If so wouldnt this mean that class conflict = racial conflict in the long term, as species are molded by their niche?
The time machine.
>>9885218
no. also of interest to you: "a class act" does not mean "a race act".
not of interest to you because it involves biology: mammalia would be a class. if you want to say mammals are a species, five year olds will correct you. the subivisions of life are, domain, kingdom, phylm, class, order, family, genus, then species. something with fills a biological niche without changing species is a clade.
>>9885248
Hey buddy, everthing you just said is irrelevant to the question. Im talking about class the way communists use the term. "Relationship to the means of production" or somethinf like that. Is that not equivalent to biologcial niche?
I Have one week to read one of these and do a small project based off of it, suggestions?
Do you own goddamn homework.

Well considering time is a factor pick from Walden, For Whom the Bell Tolls, or As I Lay Dying. None of these are hard to understand and extrapolate from.
>>9885114
Something tells me you live in a blue state.
Anyways: For Whom the Bell Tolls and Walden are short enough, try those
Weeeeeeew schooled my coworkers on max stirner. Now everyone's going around calling each other spooked. Ll this makes work much better.

Huxley was right. Orwell was wrong.
FALSE DICHOTOMY THEY ARE BOTH AT PLAY IN THE MODERN WORLD STFU
>>9885027
go check out living in a different country like NK. guy was right about them. Orwell was giving a warning what society would be if certain thoughts weren't noticeable.
Huxley was making a prediction on what society would inevitably be at its current rate. Both of them were right.
>>9885032
awe, you don't even warm em up do you, you faggot.
Are you more of a reader, or a writer? Is there a difference?
>>9884970
Some people call me a reader, some call me a writer, some people call me Maurice cause I speak of the pompitous of love.

Read Kant's What is Enlightenment?
So what's our /lit/izens' opinions on the latest meme book? It's basically a new 50 Shades of Grey released and promoted in the same way as John Dies at the End.
It originated on the dark side of Tumblr, where the pro-patriarchy S&M freaks come out to play, and the super up-their-own-ass feminazi freaks vent their repressed submissive desires to help themselves cope with their craziness.
It's basically purposing to be a well-written pornographic story, an erotic novel, if you will, written by someone going by the pen name Guy New York about some dude who goes around getting involved in various sexual deviancies with a slew of women, and talking them into quasi-polyamorus situations.
The whole thing is currently still available in full on the author's tumblr, for how long, I'm not sure.

its shit, desu
good luck with your book, i hope you get rich off all these Zaddy freaks
sounds dull. clueless about the fact erotic literature has already existed for centuries.

"A day later I was sitting in my living room with Brent, Jason and Katie, having a beer and smoking a bowl, when Rachel stormed in like a hurricane. She had a few with the rest of us earlier, but her cheeks were so red I thought she might explode. All four of us looked up, and we were all too terrified to speak. Even before she opened her mouth, we knew it was trouble. I just didn’t know it was mine."

You can not imagine how it shakes me from the superstitious old women in the church. When some old hag with a withered brain comes up and shakes with a crooked finger trying to indicate what to do, all Christian charity flows out of me. I want to take an assault rifle, or at least a knife, and kill, kill, kill until this cattle has disappeared, or at least becomes invisible. What should be done to prevent these plebeians from distracting and not interfering with God?
and the Chomsky convict understood everything and put a Cross on everything
This book got me into post-apocalyptic fiction. Any similar (literary) works, /lit/?

Roadside picnic maybe?
Why write a real novel when you can write shitty medieval fantasy and get paid millions more?
>>9884709
You are baiting in calm waters.
>>9884709
Most people who write shitty medieval fantasy live a poor-to-moderately comfortable life, anon.
Actually, that's not true. Most people who write it don't make any money off it at all and work day jobs, writing shitty medieval fantasy in their spare time or as fanfic. Of the few that do make it, most don't make much. Some make enough. Fewer make a lot. To make what GRRM does, you have to be one in a million.

Why study humanities when STEM pays more on average
In fact, why do anything when most things in life end in sadness. This is the vibe you give off. It's not always about how much you get out of something. Sometimes people do things because they genuinely enjoy it, and cannot even imagine doing something else.
