Hi, I built an Android app that combines Both improvisations and writing. It's called Tell Me A Story, an almost gamified version of improv storytelling similar to the stories you find online, However, there is one twist, you are not the sole creator of the story, you get to continue writing from other peoples stories and carry on topics you may not be comfortable with, improving your writing and improvisational skills. The idea came from a couple of friends who love writing and reading these made up stories so I decided to give them a platform specifically to express their creative concepts with. They've been giving me some good feedback and it is pretty fun for them to write and me to read. I have been working on this program for nearly the entire summer and would like to give it to the internet to have fun with, as of right now developing this isn't my full-time job but if enough interest is generated for TMAS I will gladly continue this project and improve it far past its current state. I will be taking suggestions for features and adjustment to the current format from the community as this is developed, a lot of what has been created is the result of my two friends feedback on the program. I will post a link to the play store listing below!!!

>“Identification with the devil” amplifies the dangers inherent in group identification, which tends of its own accord towards pathological stultification. Loyalty to personal interest – subjective meaning – can serve as an antidote to the overwhelming temptation constantly posed by the possibility of denying anomaly. Personal interest – subjective meaning – reveals itself at the juncture of explored and unexplored territory, and is indicative of participation in the process that ensures continued healthy individual and societal adaptation.

What did he mean by this?

schroedinger's cat trilogy is better tho

Schroedinger's cat is good, but has too much slapstick and too many sex scenes compared to Illuminatus.

Take a break and read someone else and then return to the border trilogy. I say take a break because everything worth doing that he does as an author he does best in BM. All his other stuff seems paltry and derivative when read in its shadow.
>>
You are ready for his magnum opus: Suttree.

I have more than one hundred printed books, mainly on philosophy, that I wanna give away. Gonna start reading only on Pdfs from now on (because it's more ecological and doesn't take any space). Do you anons ever had that? Having fucking physical books is a fucking chore m8. Takes too much space and can't carry them with you to another country (if there are too much)

You'll have to pay for the shipping though. And it would be pretty fucking expensive, because the box is heavy and I live in Brazil, so the international shipping would be expensive as hell.

Water falls from the bright air
It falls like hair
Falling across a young girl’s shoulders
Water falls
Making pools in the asfault
Dirty mirrors with clouds and buildings inside
It falls on the roof of my house
Falls on my mother and on my hair
Most people call it rain

what do you guys think about my poem

What are some good books on music theory for someone who's played guitar drums and piano for years but never bothered to learn about it?

I dunno, but Adam Neely has some recommendations on his youtube channel.

/mu/ would probably have better answers for this.
>>
>>9916356
literally just get any college textbook. "Harmony & Voice-Leading," "Theory & Analysis," "Harmony in Context," etc. Skip all those "Music theory for dummies!!!!" books.

If you want something that isn't actually useful but will at least help you feel smart, check out that new book by David Byrne.

What "is" thought? What is the ontological status or nature of thinking, of mind, of mindedness?

We all know science and analytic philosophy are blind retards, stumbling in the dark. What else is out there, and what has come closest to the truth?

>>9916345
Analytic philosophy is the only tradition that has engaged with this question other than Husserl , who is one of the few continentals to engage in a dialogue with analytics. The answer is property dualism of course; the mental supervenes on the physical but is not reducible to it. You get to preserve your spooky magic

>The answer is property dualism of course; the mental supervenes on the physical but is not reducible to it.

that's not an answer you fuckstick
>>
>>9916675
Of course it is. The physical is the only substance that exists but not the only property.

Posting this again
I'm a newfag. Been reading for a few years now. My problem is that I only read when I feel comfy. I can't read when I'm with someone. I can't read when the weather's too hot ( I live in the Philippines, it's hot everywhere); ideal place for me to read is in a library .. or park. I can't read when there's too much noise, but I can if I listen to classical music. I can't read if I have to do something later (do laundry, homework etc.)
Other people read while they shit - like wtf?
How do I become less peevish
Help me please I want to read a lot of books

Post an excerpt from a book/poem that proves men are capable of love.

NB! True love, not "she's beautiful-looking and I can't fuck her and that makes me sad"-b/s

sounds like you've got your own standard as to what that is, would you mind sharing it with the class?
>>
It's been evolutionarily proven that women are actually incapable of love. They've been conditioned for hundreds of thousands of years to be obsessed with the material.

I read Post Office and liked it. /lit/ usually recs PO or Ham On Rye and says don't bother with the rest. I read some books of poems with R. Crumb illustrations but couldn't get into them. Never was much for poetry of any kind, tho.

You know the Murakami meme that every one of his books are the same. Well take that meme and put it on Bukowski, only tenfold.

If I were to read only three works by Dostoyevsky, what would they be and in which order should they be read?

Please lads, I want to read.

Notes from Underground is a good introduction because it's short. Crime and Punishment is probably his most widely read among non-literary people (and most famous). Brothers Karamazov is widely regarded as his masterpiece. Read them in that order.

Read C&P this summer and absolutely loved it.

Has he written himself into a ditch?

>ridiculous time skips on the show
>taking ages to finish his book, probably because he fucked up
>admitted he fucked up time lines, wanted characters to be older, etc

The better question is, have you ever found yourself writing your story into a ditch?

Who fucking cares? Are you stupid? It's like caring about the plots of Harlequin romance novels. Read a real book and kill yourself.
>>
I literally have no respect for GRRM.

Like, I imagine he just sort of lost his drive for writing the series after the show caught up and started its own "different but in-keeping with his GRRM's plan" branch. More people watch the show; even his book readers will now experience his ending as a mere alternative ending.

But it's his fucking fault for being a lazy shit. I've only just started writing my first novel, but goddamn do I know that I'm probably writing faster than GRRM has over the last decade and that, if I had a million or so fans, I would feel fucking obligated to write. Like, I'm not even a big fan of the series. GRRM just seems like a fucking asshole. His books are nicely written and have interesting plots, but it shouldn't take him since 2011 to now to write one fucking book in a series of classy pulp fantasy
