What are some short introductions to history of western philosophy.
I've tried to read the book, but is like a fucking bible.
I'm not fucking God.

I'm redpilled. I don't believe in postmodernist, post-structuralist continental muh feels cultural marxist cuckism. I care about a white ethno-state with traditional gender roles centred on a belief in God.

Unique.

Amen, Anon. We could all use some of the red pill.
I´ve notice some things that make the difference between male and female authors, for example, female authors tend to:
>Describe things in a mellow way
>Have soft narrative, even if it´s a book with an adult topic
>Write happy endings
Any other characteristics you noticed?
who, specifically, are you referencing for these inferences?
I'm barely into my 20s and I've read more books than everyone in this thread combined. I can say with the utmost of certainty that I can identify female writers solely from their writing with 100% accuracy every time. The dead ringer giveaway is basically, is the writing really shitty? Female writer.* Is the writing mediocre at worst, and incredibly beautiful beyond words at best? Male writer.
*That is unless you count that one book by the MtF tranny I read a few years back. Marvelous read.

For me, women are simply inferior to us as white men, and they only write utter trash and garbage. Thanks for creating this thread. We need more woman hate threads here to redpill the libcucks
Is there a single writer harder to understand?

Can someone explain to me how in the fuck Lovecraft is supposed to be scary in the least?
you have to be a total neurotic for it to make any sense at all
To me, the appeal of Lovecraft doesn't lie on his ability to spook the reader. He developed a very atmospheric and dark style that really gets you into the story filled with horrendous creatures from outer space in a time when spooky skeletons and ghosts was all there was.
Rank these authors.
Don DeLillo
Cormac McCarthy
Thomas Pynchon
Philip Roth
>>9930950
Not be a meme but
1. Pynchon
2. McCarthy
3. DeLillo
4. Roth
I like all of them though

P R M D
>>9930950
Roth has the same problem as Bellow - a skill for detail, but at the risk of damaging the whole. Never finished a novel of either.
>mfw reading the bible for the first time
moses dies in the end
Like a scroll that tastes as sweet as honey.
>Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth. Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth
There's an lgbt literature course in the multicultural literature studies at my college this semester (it cycles through various subjects every semester). Take or no?

20th century homos: Burroughs, Mishima, Genet, Foucault
21st century homos: that couple from 'modern family'
political correctness ruined homos.
>>9938039
Does the course description indicate what you'll be reading? There's plenty of interesting literature that could be taught in the course, even moreso if they include works by gay authors whose homosexuality isn't directly apparent in their work.
I had to put it down because the idea of a middle aged man being that edgy was unacceptable to me.
>>9930912
Aren't you aware Charles Bukowski existed?
Reminder that the first half isn't supposed to sound stupid.
anyone whose been around middle aged men for over a few minutes knows how edgy they can be
literally my most dramatic co-workers are the middle aged men

Looks like fiction isn't for you anon

What book would you recommend to somebody you know is objectively smarter than you?
Imagine, say, I was objectively smarter than you. What book would you recommend to me?

Is Joseph Campbell at all interesting to anyone who already has solid basic knowledge of mythology? From what I can tell he seems like a glorified self-help author.
Joseph Campbell is fucking great. I have no idea where you got that impression from. Check out The Power of Myth available as text or as a video series. A series of interviews he did with Bill Moyers for a general introduction to his thought.
His Masks of God series is also fascinating.
Any of y'all read Chesterton? If so, what do you like about him?
>>9930846
I like him in general. Both his books on Dickens and Vic Lit are swell, and are the last books I read by him maybe a year ago. Read all the Father Browns when a kid, Thursday and Notting Hill, Orthodoxy and Heretics when in school.
>in before the Chesterton Hater.. arrives....
>>9930846
I want him to come back from the dead and bitchslap Sam Harris
>>9930975
Chesterton pretty much dealt with a whole legion of Harris-like types in his own day, to the extent that you can use his writing to refute Harris even now.
Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic by Sam Quinones
Have to read this for college what should I expect?

How does a novel promote fascism? What specifically makes this book a promotion of fascist ideals?
>>9930796
Since it critics consumerism, it supports collectivism: a nazi and immoral idea that leads to totalitarianism.
it pretty much rejects fascism if you read to the end
Give a definition of both fascism and fascist ideals, and perhaps we can discuss your questions. If we don't define first, everyone will use their own interpretations, definitions, and we do not reach consensus and talk beside each other.
