>I'm missing a book
>Can't seem to find a book i've been planning to read
>It isn't on the damn book shelf so not sure what happened to it

Iktf, I lost my copy of Juvenal for about 6 years before it just turned up one day. Every couple years I would remember it was missing and go looking through everything trying to find it, but never could. Now I've got the opposite feeling trying to remember where I ended up finding it.
I'd suggest a nigger might've stolen if it wasn't a book.

No one cares.
when will literaturelets bow down before the genre fiction master race?

*blocks your logic*
>During his undergraduate study in literature, he conducted an experiment to expose a professor who he believed was giving him abnormally low marks and criticizing his literary style.[8]:4 Informing another professor of his suspicions,[9] Crichton submitted an essay by George Orwell under his own name. The paper was returned by his unwitting professor with a mark of "B−".
>implying B- isn't the perfect score for Orwell
>genre fiction/fantasy novels are trash for uneducated escapist plebs
>The Bible is a literary masterpiece!
What does /lit/ mean when they say these things?
I give /lit/ a light 1
>>9942594
OP did you made a wild connection between the Bible and genre fiction but did not know how to justify it so you "/" a fantasy novel at the end?
What a stupid fucking equation. Do you think those two statements imply some contraction? Do you think you're clever for noticing some measure of hypocrisy in such statements? Do you think this board has a singular opinion as opposed to multiple different ones (its composed of multiple contributors)? My god, fucking dont post on this website ever again, fucking hell
Somebody tell me how they like my writing, thanks for the responses :)

I ain't clicking that shit nigga.
Why is reading such a chore? Is it me or it's the writers that are being irritating? Why can't they be straight-forward for once? I read a lot when I was kid but it's was mainly to kill time. Pic related is the only western book I truly enjoyed. How do I learn not to get bored while reading?

Try your brain to enjoy the process, slowly digest the narrative and appreciate the craft in general
You are too used to quick, fast and cheap methods of entertainment, there is no easy way around breaking this habit
The problem is that you're too used to consuming things for the plot. Plot has been and always should be a thread to hang much more interesting things on: prose, observations about the world, world-building, funny/intriguing/sad/etc. moments, and all sorts of little things.
The reason why it's difficult to appreciate those things is because you're not used to it.
Read some fantasy. Will get you started.
Then you can read Children of Hurin, if you dare.
Both are pretty short too.
Do you know any good books about storm chasing or natural disasters in general?
I must confess that when I hear about dreadful impending weather catastrophes in distant parts of the world I feel an undeniable thrill mixed with something like jealousy. I'd like to believe that this is a largely unspoken universal feeling rather than something that makes me a uniquely detestable piece of shit.
You should read Schopenhauer's thoughts on the Sublime

Heavy Weather, by Bruce Sterling
What the hell is water?
*Punches you in the face*
What the fuck was that ending?
Honestly, one of the greatest endings in literature. The heart of the "Sea of Fertility," which is really a dead, empty lake on a dead, cold moon. Peace found in a vacuum of meaning and hope

>tfw submitted a short story to a magazine I've submitted to before
>they're usually decent at sticking to their stated response times, with one previous exception
>tfw it's been a month since the response window passed and still have no word
On the one hand, I know better than to get my hopes up, since I have waited more than a year before only to get rejected from a certain place. On the other hand, this magazine is, again, generally pretty good at responding within their window. I did wait a little beyond it once, but never this long. I'm not sure what to think, and I'm afraid to get my hopes up.
So, anyway, let's have a thread for your submission/querying stories.
Did you check if the email was in your spam inbox?
jk, good luck, hope you get published anon. Tell us how it unfolds.

keep in mind that anyone who runs a magazine today has to be sublimely unconcerned with the real world. you're lucky it still exists.
it does still exist, right? most magazines die around issue 3.
What is it? What should I read about it?
My parents baptized me, but I do not know anything about Christianity.
Postsecularism is just a term for people who are surprised that religious belief is still here in the "age of science."
It comes out of a false sense of social acceleration coming from people stuck in a bubble, so to speak, of friends and acquaintances that think just like them.

Thanks for the answer.
Not sure if /lit/ or /mu/, but hell, I'll ask anyway.
Besides this gem, are there any other instances when a concept album based on a great novel is just as good in its respective genre?
Earth - Hex... is based on Blood Meridian and its pretty neato.

Thanks, friendo. Will check it out.

I have some ideas for some stories. All I want is a website where I can write those stories up and preferably going to it chapter by chapter.
I would also like it ( but not necessarily) to be active and have some kind of "comments" system to see where are my weak points/ strong points.
