Is the portrayal of Jim racist?

I don't remember reading the narrative voice saying that he represented an entire race, so no
>becomes huck's friend by the end, a much better one than tom
>huck saves him from numerous slavery-related misfortunes
>Jim has a good heart, just suffers from a lack of education
Yeah Mark Twain was known as "The Black Death" in his day because of the sheer number of blacks he massacred
>go to Notting hill carnival
>walk down streets filled with people
>a few people blowing horns, selling jerked chicken and jerked other stuff
>Staceys with glitter on their faces (bright colours to attract Chads and Tyrones)
>eventually walk to a road which is a short parade area with loads of trucks with DJs on them playing really loud (really loud) Carribean music
>people part of the parade (local community people) were dancing n the road with the trucks, normies were just watching and looking happy
Normally when I'm in situations like that where everyone is happy, with friends, attractive, and there is music playing (like when I walk past night life areas at night) I talk to myself in my head, making observations, almost as if the people around me can read my mind, or in coping by pretending I'm not a subhuman. But at the carnival I completely stopped the mental charade and was fully cognizant of my friendless, ugly, pathetic appearance. There were no mental distractions.
Don't say I don't do the legwork for you guys.
Background:
>aged 26
>no friends or social life since 18
>no female attention ever
>went through university with zero social experiences
>became the loner nobody talks to within two days of my current job
>never been to pub, club, or party
>missed out on all the 16 - 22 formative social experiences that people look back on fondly (teen crushes, school prom, school dances, university fresher's week, any sort of relationships at all)
>know that women all have 5000 tinder matches and think the average male is ugly

sage and report.
Nice to know you live near Notting Hill, though. I'll be checking out the stations nearby.

Nice literature thread you got there friendo :)
How long has this meme been running? Only returned to /lit/ a week ago and I've seen three different versions already.
ITT: """villains""" who did literally NOTHING wrong.
He killed Basil; come on, now
>>9945334
Who else here agrees with Sir Henry except the masturbatory, overindulged hedonism and views on polygamy? Other than that he is essentially one giant red pill.
>>9945538
After Basil demanded to see the painting (which he ultimately had no rights to, since he had transferred ownership of it to Dorian) he had to be put down or else Dorian would be ruined. It was an act of self-defense.
What are some books that feature macho male rivalries?
The Old Testament has plenty
What are some good novels or short stories about an immortal old man?
Pic unrelated.

The Last Incantation - Clark Ashton Smith
Who's dat cutie?
>'Listen, the more men you've had, the more I love you. Do you understand that?'
reminder that Winston Smith is a KEK
>>9944920
Of course he was. He was a stupid, sad old man who had never had good pussy in his life.
>>9944920
that's a very sexually charged cover. everyone always forgets about the "love story" in 1984
> that bdsm guy staring him down
> sexy minx with all that cleavage and the words "ANTI-SEX" on her button
>>9944920
Dude I literally wrote that in another thread
1984 is so wrong cuz that.
The first half and last 20 pages should just be reprinted as the entire book.
What's your favorite work of pre-20th century erotic literature? I'm partial to Teleny, or the Reverse of the Medal myself. Also the works of De Sade.
>>9944872
i maturbated to that pic a couple times
>>9944878
I brought that pic up in high school class and was bullied for knowing about such things.
>>9944896
bad luck.
I was stupid enough to look up mr. hands in class and I didn't get bullied.
that was in the first class of my life I didn't suffer horrific bullying in, though, so lucky me.
questions that dont deserve there one thread
ask away. keep literature related or else go to the /advice/ board.
:)
I want to start a blog centered around geopolitics, would like advice which blog-hosting websites are better than others.
I checked out the website "medium" but it's offputting because it seems fundamentally structured to become a hivemind. I'd prefer if my blog was kept for better or for worse private except to those who are specifically pointed there through a link referral or such. I do not like, you know, how on medium or twitter for instance a post may "trend" and expose to others.
It's not that I don't want a large base of readers, but I don't want people who aren't interested in the topic at hand finding my blog and criticizing me for whatever reason (this blog would be fairly neutral and I don't want partisans mucking it up).
Thanks for any advice or guidance.

What does /lit/ think of this man?
huh. so he's like a japanese dfw?
>>9944809
He's like a Japanese Liberace but dressed less flamoyant but equally gay, annoying and self indulgent. Mix that with romanticized quixotic teenage-style mix ups over violence and beauty and BAM. There you go.
fucking newfags jesus christ
Mishima was /lit/'s favourite author for almost four years
Hello I am writing a novel help me

When cutting your wrists, slice along the veins, not across.
Its shit
Hi, 20 yo STEMfag here. I recently began diving heavily in literature and philosophy. how can I not become a high culture jackass/elitist pretentious asshole and go directly to the phase where I'm cool with myself and enjoying lit without afterthoughts?
Also, just got rid of religion. How can I not become a Baudelaire fanboy chasing attractive women I don't care about just to take revenge on my religious upbringing and go directly to the phase where I'm virtuous again?
I fear I'm turning into a pretentious worthless womanizer-wannabe

>I recently began diving heavily in literature and philosophy. how can I not become a high culture jackass/elitist pretentious asshole
Just don't feel the need to talk about it in situations that don't warrant it. Also realise that those subjects are edifying but not fun for others. Life is short so seek pleasure but don't seek to maximise pleasure all the time like some Instagram meme.
>How can I not become a Baudelaire fanboy chasing attractive women
Nah. Do this. Absolutely 100% do this.
>>9944709
I've always been self conscious to never be outwardly pedantic (or at least I think so). I meant, how can I avoid turning pretentious inside
Is this worth the effort? I'm not very mathy but I will try to understand it all.
sorry, i don't speak german so i don't know what it is
>>9944680
I read it and it gave me an appreciation for self reference and also the patterns which seems to show up all throughout nature.
I plan to read it again but, do slower with an intent to learn more about the subjects he talks about. Using this book as your guide you could wind up in some pretty interesting places.
And no, you don't need any mathematics.
>What are you reading anon?
>"Stoner"?
>DUDE WEED LMAO
>>9944639
>Just bought Stoner
>Will probably take a year to getting round to reading it
DUDE
Anybody ever read Kerry Bolton? Thoughts?
>>9944635
>he has a book on peron
Iv been interested in Peron and his ideology for quite some time but have never have found a good place to research
Is it any good?
>>9944670
Look at the rest of his books and guess.
>Reading my book
>Read a few pages then look up to start thinking about something
>Continue thinking about related something's for the next 15 minutes
>Read 2 more pages
>Look up to start thinking again
Is this bad? I feel like I make snails progress on my books because of it reflects poorly on my attention span.
>>9944562
I'm like that, too. But usually think or fantasize about what I just read. That's why I don't really mind.
