What does one call someone who adheres to scientism? In a philosophical sense that is.
The adherer of scientism
Scientist in the ideological sense

A fedora.
Do you really enjoy books, or do you just want the social prestige of being an intellectual behemoth?
Do you really enjoy reading Gass, or do you just want to force your way to a microscopic amount of recognition on an internet forum?

are the two mutually exclusive?

are the two mutually exclusive?
What is the philosophical middle ground between pic related's autistic "dude just be nice to people and don't be mean lmao" and utilitarianism's "dude if brutally raping and murdering this child will make everyone happier than it being alive would go ahead lmao"?

>Helping people is autistic

This site has perverted peoples understanding of so many concepts to the point that they really mean nothing and anything now.
If it was mandatory for people who use this site to read the DSM definition of autism... Every time someone uses it out of place it reminds me of a ditsy college girl going "oh em gee I am suh-oooooh OCD".
My co-worker remembers seeing a poem or maybe a short story, about two friends or brothers, they were two males, sleeping in the same room together, and one of the friends has a dream that the other is being attacked, and so he grabs his sword to protect his friend or brother, and the OTHER friend hears the brother calling out his name or something, and he assumes that he's in trouble, so he grabs a bag of money to go help him get out of trouble, and at the end, it asks you who you thought was the better friend. The one who went for the sword to save his friend, or the one who went for the money to save his friend. And that's all I know.
Does anyone know what the poem or short story was please help. She remembers it might be an older poem because of the language they used.
help
please

It's gonna be the tiger. If you actually had reading comprehension, you'd know this

I remember when liking Maddox was how you got in with the cool internet crowd.
Why does everyone hate Jonathan Franzen? I say this as someone who hates Jonathan Franzen and doesn't know why.

He pretended to be DFW's friend while he was alive to piggyback and then immediately started shit talking him when he was dead.

Euclid defined something as being the absence of everything.
How is this possible.
seems like a pretty good definition to me
you are gay
>>9071476
You have no part, fag.
>>9071469
Could you at least include what he defined as being the absence of everything?
I have always wondered if cursive is going the way of the fedora except for when dealing with older people and rigid corporate culture
how often do you practice cursive
should we devise a new formal handwriting style?
is interpersonal formalities all just bullshit for cucks?
Who wants Arabic master race ?
no, just english language cursive is for cucks
there is no beauty in english, no passion, no emotion
how does it feel, women loose their minds over us and our deep and beautiful writing
its so much more artistic
Why does the title have nothing to do with the rest of the post?
Word processing killed cursive obviously.
>>9071442
Who gives a fuck? Caring about whether or not your handwriting is perceived as feminine is one of the most beta things I've read in weeks
I think I would like to read writings, that may be rare, from someone that is educated in ways of old "native american" tribe(s). Any recommendations?

Ye old virginal wall of virtue vs evil lustful penetrating villain trope huh?

A giant, pulsating, black energy phallus with a gleaming white tip that can penetrate anything.

Just have his ability be to break down the Mc's walls. You don't really have to explain it more than, "I can break down barriers," But maybe allude to some sort of connection between the the two that allows the antagonist to have the upper hand over the MC. Since the MC doesn't have his powers against a villain he'd have to actually use real human abilities and skill to deal with his issue.
Any good books about the study of isolated tribes and their concepts and morals, and how those differ from the ones of our current civilization?
>>9071270
Yes! I have one on my shelf called The Gebusi: Lives Transformed in a Rainforest World
Also check out The Continuum Concept.
Levi Strauss
Levi-Strauss to be sure is pretty good
If you want a quicker read to get you started, check out "Understanding a Primitive Society" by Peter Winch, who develops Evans-Pritchard's and Levy-Bruhl's research into the whether "primitive" cultures are rational in the same sense we are, or whether there are different rationalities.
Also maybe look at Marshall Sahlins, Islands of History.
So which bible does /lit/ recommend for its literary value? King James or regular version? And if KJV where can u find a good copy?
>>9071214
NASB, anything else is just too archaic
King James Version is what I'm reading right now in preparation for Dante's Inferno
You can get a free KJV from the Mormons but it'll probably be delivered by a missionary looking to convert you
/lit/ shares their best *original* aphorisms
I'll go after you do, swear it.
My fellow Americans feel compassion when they look into the whites of a foreigners eyes, but nothing when they look at the whiteness of their countrymen's skin...
