What is the ideal job for the denizens of /lit/?
I'm about to start student teaching in the fall because I wanted to inspire young people to read and write, but I'm pretty sure I have chosen the wrong path. What should I do now?

Work the docks.

Do you think something like this exists in real life?
> inb4 silk road
I'm not talking about illegal shit.
>>9128068

repeat after me: having a secret postal service would be such a W.A.S.T.E
yes. it's called 4chan
>>9128183
GOOD point
>tfw someone pronounces Don Quixote "Don Kua-Sotte"
>he can't pronounce k-why-k-sote correct
>Donkey Oat
>>9127700

>Don Ki(as in kiwi)ho( as in hoe but without the e sound at the end)te( as in sTEm)
Not that fucking hard
What book made you realize you loved literature /lit/?
my diary desu
In Search of Lost Time. That book is true patrician.
>war and peace
>Using That Pic of Napoleon
Why
Is Lovecraft copyrighted?
Could I write and sell stories that use Lovecraft characters and images?
Has anyone been sued or sent letters to stop selling lovecraft mythos stuff?
ITT: I don't know how to google.
>>9127110
For the most part, no.
Yes.
Yes.
>>/google/
ITT : Awesome writers you've never seen discussed on /lit/.
Pic extremely related.
>awesome
Radical dude!
Bruno Schulz
>>9126624
>Contemporary of Yeats
>A writer for his theater company
>part of that irish renaissance /lit/ loves so much
come to think of it you dont see much yeats discussed either.
How do you get through reading a book you don't like reading?
you don't, just drop it
time is too valuable
The same way I get through a life I don't like living.
>>9126344
>only things I like are worth doing
Is it better to live a life following a set of philosophical ideas / religion, or is it better to live a life free from philosophy and religion?
Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.
>>9125249
what did he mean by this?
>>9125239
Better for whom?
I'm a shitlib who just got recommended this by some lolbertarian. Is it any good or is this just the right's version of identity politics?
>>9125222
>I'm a shitlib
Glad you realize your inferior. But really, this is 4chan and not the place for you. We are redpilled and against identity politics.
You are actively destroying the West by advocating white genocide. Go to /r/books
>>9125222
I've honestly never read Sowell (and I'm a finance major)
I'm assuming one of the reasons he's touted by the right is because black right wing intellectuals are rare
He seems pretty insightful though
>You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Mt 5:38–39)
What did he mean by this?
Jesus freaks me out. Why was he so cool?
It means spin the camera but don't look directly at it and people will think you're a gangster like in a Quentin Tarantino Movie
Oh, I see someone else went to Mass this evening.
>tfw you realise that poetry is devoid of any intellectual value, and therefore a waste of time
>tfw still can't stop reading it because of the easily fed emotional charge it gives me
Is poetry literature's low-brow entertainment, like blockbuster movies, or pop songs?
>>9124666
you dense fucking retard
Poetry is the apex of literature.
Most of it sucks though.
Good poetry is good.
Bad poetry is baaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Novelists are failed short story writers.
Short story writers are failed poets.
Yes. That's why all those teenagers and twentysomethings keep reading Yeats and Rimbaud. The true highbrow entertainment is reading Chuck Tingle and Harry Potter post-ironically.
Am I missing something? So far this is complete horseshit. The prose is bland and clumsy, these police officers think they're fucking hilarious. Am I just a pleb? Translation is by David Wyllie btw.

No.
my least favorite kafka to read. he just thinks it's funny that bad things keep happening to this guy. everything else by kafka is p gold. this is just his most intense, cerebral, and meaningless work. Amerika is mad good for a kafka novel.
>yfw Stiller crushed Kermit and his crypto-postmodernism
>Jordan "Christ be upon you" Peterson is teaching students that truth is relative RIGHT NOW
Spooky. Next generation is fucked
>>9123642
>there are retards on this board right now who care about either of these "thinkers"
>yfw modern philosophy is so pathetically impotent there's nothing to discuss but a shit debate of two pseuds
Anybody read this?
I just finished it and it really frightened me. Made me realize how fucked I am. Worried for the future now.
>>9123336
no idea what that book is but wow what a god-tier book cover.
>>9123336
Haven't read it, but he influenced D&G heavily despite them still criticizing him for being still caught in psychoanalysis.
>>9123355
D&G?
could be a poet, novelist, philosopher, essayist, whatever
Aнтoн Пaвлoвич Чeхoв
