Its the only translation of a crazy germans ridiculously crpytic and esoteric magnum opus. I bought the thing just to have, theres only a few thousand copies (of this edition) and I didn't want to spend $300 dollars whenever it peaked my interest in the future. Someone post pics of pages I'm not at home rn so I don't have the thing on hand.

This is what teens are reading nowadays:
>Seventeen-year-old Mercedes Ayres has an open-door policy when it comes to her bedroom, but only if the guy fulfills a specific criteria: he has to be a virgin. Mercedes lets the boys get their awkward fumbling first times over with, and all she asks in return is that they give their girlfriends the perfect first time-the kind Mercedes never had herself. Keeping what goes on in her bedroom a secret has been easy - so far. Her mother isn't home nearly enough to know about Mercedes' extracurricular activities, and her uber-religious best friend, Angela, won't even say the word "sex" until she gets married. But Mercedes doesn't bank on Angela's boyfriend finding out about her services and wanting a turn - or on Zach, who likes her for who she is instead of what she can do in bed. When Mercedes' perfect system falls apart, she has to find a way to salvage her own reputation -and figure out where her heart really belongs in the process. Funny, smart, and true-to-life, Laurie Elizabeth Flynn's Firsts is a one-of-a-kind young adult novel about growing up.

Why bother? No purity is lasting. All becomes corrupt. I have never met an aldult who does not disgust me in someway. I also realize that I am just as disgusting, perhaps even more so.
Why do all intellectuals of any worth resist capitalism? For most of human history they were the mouth pieces of the status quo. Now they're all "raging against" it. How did this happen?

You should probably rather write-
where do you guys get books from?
I can get most from torrenting ebooks and putting them on my kindle, but are there other places?
I have 2 really nice book stores in my town: Half Price Books and 2nd & Charles. Both have a really nice collection of used books. I scored Infinite Jest at 2nd & Charles for $4.

good ontology of literature though
also Ingarden's quasi-judgements assume that the world in a novel is never our reality. No matter how realistic you write it.

I don't think this is the book I'm looking for. Mr. Carnegie just rambles and jerks off too much. It also seems targeted towards those who are already well socially adjusted.
I just want to learn how to stop being autistic. Suggestions?
just be yourself
>>9148235
I thought you were talking about this.
Yeah that book is horeshit in a lot of ways.
"A man came to me who was failing in life. He followed my advice and made an effort to remember people's names. Now he's the CEO of BP."
Nevertheless, he's absolutely right about the importance of remembering people's names. The book has good advice, but you only need to read the chapter headings.
Best way to stop being autistic is literally to be yourself in all your autistic splendor and then by deduction stop doing the things which impact negatively on you. Only way to discover what those traits are is to do them and suffer the negative impact.
What should literature be saying at a time like this? What is an aspiring writer's responsibility toward the current political, sociological and economical climate? Is there any point to works of fiction anymore?
>>9147765
I'm not so sure it can be said that once there was a point to fiction but not anymore. Either there was always a point or there was never a point.

hey lads. i'm a very big fan of Dick and am always looking for literature that is similar, or at least abides by a similar set of ethos. so i'm wondering, does the annual PKD award actually honor works in a Dick-ian tradition, or is it just another general sci-fi accolade?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_K._Dick_Award
They tend to reward inventive or otherwise "out there" stuff.
