Why is V. so underrated? I was reading along, enjoying the comfiness and variety of characters when suddenly I got to chapter 7. It was breathtaking. Thought's on this book and the Stencil chapters?
I hope your dick rots off

Why?
pynchon is rated highly but still i think underrated and underestimated by the literary establishment and even folks who have read him before and think they've got a handle on him as basically a satirist and absurdist. pynchon is the greatest contemporary writer i've ever read.
What do you think about Murakami Haruki, /Lit/?

this man, in my country.
He is nothing
>>9968048
Norwegian Wood disappointed me so I haven't read anything else.
>>9968048
He isn't bad, but he's very populist.
I feel like he panders to lonely middle class males in his books, trying to reinforce an already existing worldview (one of romantic alienation) he assumes they have.
Have any of you read any of his books?
Jesus christ, are they bad. How does this man dare to criticize anything?
>>9967573
Nope. What's bad about them?
>>9967574
You tell me.

>favourite modder stopped just before the end of a series to write books instead
>can't read French, so I can't even tell if the stories are good or not
Life is truly suffering.
ITT: We post only 10/10 covers.

>He's the kind of dude who is quick to broadcast that he's read difficult literature: Gravity's Rainbow is "masochistic," Infinite Jest "hilarious," Ulysses "ambitious," the infamously sexually outré Lolita his "favorite novel of all time."

Is this guy what becomes of you after reading /lit/'s canon?
Why can't white women into butts?
what's it like, fitting a stereotype perfectly?
What sort of butthurt womeme or nu Male would write this? Infinite Jest IS funny, GR IS funny. Are they mad they prefer Harry Potter?
I've read The Odyssey, Dubliners and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. I found them enjoyable and none of them particularly challenging at all. Besides that I've probably read about 40 other books in my life.
Am I ready for pic related or should I not bother yet because I'm not ready due to not being that well read overall?
Nothing's at stake, start with Finnegans Wake
>>9967435
B-but I don't want to read that one.
Read Shakespeare, as there are passages about him in Ulysses. And believe me, even people who have struggled through pomo tomes will find themselves unprepared for Ulysses.
Is this true or false?
that picture reeks of facebook/9gag
The image presents a sort of a dialogue with two opposite views, and it never really states which of them is true. So, if I said that the image is true, then I would be affirming its content. Its content is a statement and a negation of that statement, which makes the whole image a contradiction. Contradictions cannot be true, so the image has to be false.
t. logic pro ;)

I mean is the killing of your main char bad or no?
I'm convinced there is no rational argument for the existence of free will. Free will would require the existence of something metaphysical first which hasn't been demonstrated.
prove me wrong /lit/
ok
>>9967393
'Convinced'? How is that possible?
What compels (you) to put up the words (you) do is anybody's necessarily fated guess.
fatalists are manchildren who are afraid of responsibility: note the weeb picture
Which translation of Hafez is best? I'm thinking of buying The Collected Lyrics of Hafiz of Shiraz- Peter Avery.
Dont do it. He is a hack. Google the subject. Read Matthew Rohrer--probably wrong last name.
Did someone say Hafez?
Are audio books for autists?

>go for a walk
>gym
>while listening to an audio book instead of music
It's simply more reading if you do it right
Sounds more like schizotypy desu
not if you have a menial job that doesn't involve customer interactions
Is it worth reading lads?

Have you been living in a cave?

1. If you like the allegory implied in xmen that the mutants are gays and/or lgbt
2. If you're just getting out of a relationship.
3. If you're into vampires and werewolves and don't need the action and violence.
4. If you can read the book and identify with Bella and not one of the boys.
No, I just read it as a teenager because some girls read it so I could talk about it with them but it truly is a waste of time and the writer is so mentally backwards, even worse than /pol/ but still for some reason the hordes of feminists haven't complained about it
He's a serious contender for the best British writer of the post war years and yet because of his flippant attitudes towards political correctness he seems to have been memory holed and lost to the public conscience
American here, I fucking love the Flashman books. I've read two or three of them; one was where he had to impersonate some royalty in a plot involving Otto von Bismarck, the other where he got mixed up in some plots in America by multiple people trying to make sure John Brown didn't raid Harper's Ferry. They were a blast to read, incredibly entertaining.
>>9967261
His American adventures are the best ones. You should read the OP image cos its about Flashman trying to cross the plains in 49. A rollicking adventure from start to finish.
does he bang that qt indian in the books
or is the cover lying to me again
I want to believe in God but I can't stop viewing it as a ploy to control poor people via an Oedipal father complex. How do I stop
Why do you want to believe in God?
