>tfw I'm a sucker for self help
>tfw I read online blog bait articles about the keys to success
>have epiphanies everyday: "The key is to work hard! Or work smart! Or do what I love!"
>still continue wasting my time
Follow instructions in the pic, frogshit.
knowing something is far from actually doing it.
see nietzsche. he rambled on about the übermensch but was merely an untermensch

Nietzsche didn't proclaim to be one and yet he was through the huge, sustained influence of his work
Name me a contemporary novel that actually reflects our everyday 21st century life, including social networks, internet, cellphones, buildings and alienation.
You mean 21st century Western life?
Tumblr.
But seriously, I'm interested and am monitoring this thread
>>9207219
Would a reputable author risk taking shits on integral parts of modern life?
Think about it, whatever truth he'll write would be viewed as detrimental by corporations.
Writers disguise this by hammering in a false but plausible plot (Hunger Games, Ender's Game, etc) which appeal to people because on some level the novels hold truth.
I don't think there's every going to be a magnum opus on the prevailing social paradigm either because it's taboo or because the only people who care about reading that shit are those who can't think for themselves.
Off topic, watch Black Mirror, it hits the nail on the head in some aspects.
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

When I started reading As I Lay Dying, I thought Boy, that's pretty good prose, very enjoyable. I felt like the different POVs were adroitly done.
That was until I came past the first fifth of the book.
I stopped after the passage in the screenshot and now I doubt I'll ever touch another book by the man that is widely considered one of the most influential and skillful authors of recent times.
Discuss.
It sounds like hippie mumbo jumbo to me

You are an illiterate plebian and should stick to your Stephen King books.
What is the opposite of suspension of disbelief?
When trannies shit out poopoo creampie

I was thinking about this earlier when I read "Looming brazen above Demacia's walls, the colossus stands with silent lips."
My answer was no.

Does it count as lips when he's a stone gargoyle?

What's the point of coming to this Malaysian pot making shack and posing a question to expert potters?
only about 80 pages into this book, but what's the big deal? it's the most pretentious book I've ever read in my entire life. both characters are insufferable, arrogant know-it-alls who constantly shit on everyone around them like they're supreme beings who can do no wrong. they're not likable in any way, and are more muppets/caricatures than actual characters.
maybe it's because i'm american? maybe i don't get the french style of humor, or their grasp of philosophy? I've heard that philosophy is mandatory for french students, but it definitely isn't here.
either way, the book is just excruciating to read. is there something i'm missing that would increase my enjoyment of it?
>>9206794
I would recommend tackling some Chris Chan before reading this

You sound like someone who reads for entertainment. You clearly don't know how to read.

>tfw been experiencing flow for the past three days
>write a bunch of nonsense so vague and esoteric nobody can call bullshit on it
>have the charisma to teach a class to young people and not be a crazy innawoods NEET
>influence more than a hundred years of ideology based off literal shitposting
