Goethe's Sturm and Drang period poems are pretty neat.

Endymion is essential; dunno if I'd call it happy.

I'm a pretty slow reader. Sometimes takes me quite a few hours to get over 40 pages. Dunno, it's not that bad. Spend less time on 4chan ftw

word count != understanding the material well

No worries, OP

I don't normally make threads so I have no idea how to format this without looking pompous. So, I will not format this at all. I have write a 6 page interpretation of a myth or story, it just has to be done using an allegory. Greek or Mesopotamian myth would probably be easiest, since that is the course's focus, but it really doesn't matter.
Please give me a suggestion.

Note that folk tales, legends, and so on are all classified under 'myth' in this context. For example, I could write on a known historical figure becoming mythologized and draw connects between that and what we are discussing now with Heracles.

What is the relationship between the two characters in the picture? I don't think I've ever seen them together before. Does the white guy have a name?

>Magical Realism is Fantasy written by people who speak Spanish - Gene Wolfe
Was he right? What is exactly the difference between the two?
21 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
almost right.

fantasy is generally where everything takes place in an invented world (The Shire, Melnibone, Frankston, etc). magic realism is where everything takes place in a conventional setting but with one or two fantasy elements thrown in. the standard is "why is there a purple Giraffe in my yard?"

Hello /lit/, I am a time traveler from roughly 10 years in the future (we have proper nomenclature for it but the leap temporal science took/will take over the past/next 10 years is mind-boggling and it would pass completely over your head)

If I recall correctly /lit/ will become an obsolete board (see: /mu/) within 2 years if you do not sage/ignore/remove the following:

>recent purchases threads
>stack threads
>age/location/currently reading (and etc.) threads
>humour threads
>any mention of Orwell

That’s all you’ve gotta do

Also there are two quite popular authors from my time who say they were quite active on /lit/, that’s all I can reveal sorry

Bit of a hodge-podge. I've finished Winesburg and the Kawabata, thought they were both great.

What do you think of the idea of a personal god?

What's your opinion on the god of Spinoza?

Have you read the arguments against your position?

What do you think of them?

I'm an atheist, but the way I see it God's existence cannot be proven or disproven as the concept of God is based entirely on faith.

Former serious Christian here, seconding. Attempts to "prove" god are all troll-tier.

I know god exists because what's the point of suffering through this life if there wasn't a god

The Foolish King is seated shaking upon his throne, snorting lines of coke from his phone’s silver back. He feels it but it’s not much. His brain twitches, gives a faux-enthused half-shrug, not all that unlike his former lover who used to say I Love You Back but eventually only smiled back all sad instead. Either the world is earthquaking at the exact same rate as his body or the withdrawal shakes have simmered. It’s probably the latter: The Foolish King’s hands have cooled down to a meditative vibration. He hits the red button on the TV remote. The thermodynamic receptors embedded within the leathery complexion of his throne begin to whir. Mood-registered. On the screen appears a slickly-shot wildlife documentary about some bastard lion pursuing an idiot gazelle who’s about to have the term Pain In The Ass biblically redefined. The Foolish King nose-exhales, the quietly empathetic kind reserved for when someone makes a joke that’s clearly not funny.
