bookshelves this tiny genuinely make me a bit sad
>>9245706
yeah but 3 of those books take a short lifetime to read.
>>9245706
It's obviously a joke. Hence the 3 different copies of Art of the Deal and the meme trilogy.
I really enjoy the stories in this book but I'm not able to interpret them for myself. How do I get better ad this? Am I just dumb?
>>9264585
Just give it another read and, this time, try to think more analytical and critically, friend.
Meet me at the truck stop, the TA, on i-80 at midnight. I will instruct you
>>9264593
Thanks, my guy.
I hear this is pretty inaccurate. Is that true? If so, what can you suggest as an alternative.
>>9264508
Richard Evans' trilogy is a better option, but honestly that book is still a good read.
I think it's well written and entertaining.
>>9264666
I'm looking for something perhaps more informative
I showed my mom this poem and she just kept saying "What?" Then she said it's just a guy saying a bunch of shit and that she doesn't get it. Is it just an age gap thing or is this poem just stupid?
Wut?
>>9264433
That's stupid, son
The poem is just stupid, fucking millenial aesthete Tao Lin a shit
has there ever been a book published with no plot?
Thinking about writing an entire book just describing things. How bad of an idea is this ?
I'm published, but only with some critiques and a poem or two.
I'd say Robbe-Grillet got the closest to that.
Lots of books of poetry desu.
>>9264272
it's just not gonna be a novel
How do I read faster?
>>9264053
wiggle your eyes a lot to get used to moving them faster
Read two books at once.
>>9264061
God Is Not Great is a far more damning critique of religion than The God Delusion... Dawkins just doesn't have the literary flare that Hitch did.
>>9264040
He'll be remembered as a debater, not as an author.
Why does literature feel small? It used to seem like there was a great amount of literature, but I don't feel like there is much that piques my interest other than a handful of authors.
>>9263768
Because you're tremendously lazy presumably.
>>9263775
What makes me lazy? If something is written pretentiously or too archaically for my liking, I usually put it down.
>>9263783
>literature should conform to my tastes

Russian isn't even on the list.
Also, I wish there was vintage I could watch without that braindead ham man Randy Buehler shitting up every week.

Stop using big words.
>>9263570
*Stop using big words that don't fit, you hormone-drooling syntax-rapists.
Of course big words are ok, sometimes. But I am very frustrated with how modern culture talks about issues. We talk too much in "groupings", i.e. saying that a certain position is too capitalist or socialist or authoritarian. Instead of simply talking about the issue directly, or the resources needed, or the amount of power it would require.

Write however you want.
Pic related. It's got that comfy old-world prose that makes me think of warm spring days and comfy dinners
>>9263478
Harry Potter 4 probably. Between the tournament events its mostly just comfy stuff about living at hogwarts
>>9263493
I've never read the books, but I think that the movies do a great job of creating comfy scenes. Despite how much gripe HP may get on this board, Hogwarts makes one want to curl up in a blanket with a hot glass of apple cider
I am going to read this.
>>9263428
Good. I am going to read Seiobo There Below.
>>9263447
Translated?
>>9263451
Yes, unfortunately. I have Spanish and a small bit of French and Basque under my belt, and I think I'll move on to either German, Latin or ancient Greek next. Do you think I should move directly on to Hungarian?
Also, my good Hungarian, I am wondering how well you like his massive sentence-blocks. Do you find them forced at all?
im going to finally finish L'Étranger. I have Le Père Goriot and Bel-Ami, as well as a folio jr. version of The Magician's Nephew by CS Lewis. Which should I try to read next?
I can also try to get other texts online/irl if you have good recommendations for other books.
merci.

Read more Camus. The plague if you're depressed
>>9263292
I'm sure you have heard of it, but I'm gonna type it out anyway.
