It makes the pages look prettier
The way I feel about it though is that if they didn't find it fit to include it in the main text then it should be excluded all together.

>be reading book
>looks like I have about 100 pages left to read
>read 10 pages, the book ends
>the rest are notes, references, bibliographies

its a nice surprise sometimes

He is my role model

Hi there.
Can you recommend any non fiction books on the topic of the underground (okay, sometimes overground) train systems? Be it in general, or focusing on specific cities (NYC, London, Moscow? Anything).

Yeah, I have read it (and I enjoyed it back when I read it a few years ago), but now I'm looking for NON FICTION books on the topic.

Hey /lit/

A friend if mine considers themselves an avid reader and recently lost a brother and a close friend recently so they're going through a rough time. I was hoping to get some book recommendations with a loss of a sibling as a central theme, preferably fiction though. Alternatively any books that you think is incredibly atmospheric and easy to get lost in that world would also do.

I could not think of many books like that off the top of my head and admittedly I have not done much recreational reading as of late

pic semi related, going to go hiking with them find a scenic place to read and gift the book to them

Thanks in advance kind anons

I need to know everything about Canterbury Tales prologue ASAP. Here, have the worst meme I've seen so far.

>>9345963
It's a good book. Maybe you should have read it for your school assignment instead of asking here, or going to fucking sparknotes like an intelligent little high schooler.

And if that's the worst meme you've seen, you're in for a ride.
>>
That IS a shitty meme. I think that's Thomas Aquinas, who has no connection to Thomas a Becket, the Canterbury cathedral, or the history of pilgrimages in that region. He certainly has no connection to Chaucer, except insofar as Chaucer may have read him.
>>
>>9345963
It was the first longform cuck meme.

Hello Everyone.

I'm 25 y/o male from Eastern Europe. I'm looking for specific book recomendations.
Here's my story.
My childhood wasn't so great uhm.. In fact it was great with some disadvantages.
I was growing up in peaceful times having lots of friends and great places to explore.
On the other hand my parents are just not the best one you could imagine.
My father is a gambler addicted to alcohol. He was stealing stuff/money from home and doing weird shit.
Your favorite toy is missing? You think you lost it? You feel bad about it. No. Go see pawnshop front store.
Mother has blackeye? Job incident? Yeah, sure.

Fast forward 8 years.

You're getting older, most important exams are coming. Last day to do some reading.
Fuck! police kicks in your front door, they're looking for something. They're touching your stuff, digging in your clothes.
Nevermind you pass the exam with 99% score.. You're angry depressed smart ass.
It's ok. You're ok. Everything is going to be ok... no it's not.
You need money to survive. There's no social security in your shithole country, economy is depressed.
Average income is around usd 300 monthly. You are becoming thief, you're in jail.. couple of times..
All your friends are criminals.

After some time you become adult and you're in one of the best universities in your place.
It's nice. You can not finish it. Everyday home brawl doesnt help you in learing.
Fuck school. fuck it. fuck this.

Fast forward 2 years.

You become independent have great career and salary. Your girlfriend is beautiful artist. You're doing great stuff...
End of the story.

I had lots of luck in my life to meet great creative people from good families.
I can see they're brave. Their self esteem is pretty high. When I met their parents I noticed big difference in a way of education.
Theirs parents support children in many ways. Mine was afraid of any risk. "Dont try this, dont do this. You want to be software engineer?! You will fail, its too complicated!"
I want to be like my friends... I cannot rewind time but I can live as a child again in my mind. I want to remodel some part of me, of my mind.
I need a book with a story of great father helping son becoming a man, a valuable person.
I know I've got no ethical background. My skills as a entrepreneur are based on drug dealing and selling stolen stuff.
I want to change that.
I will always remember old me but I now it's not good and it's only sentiment.

Sorry for my english. I'm not native speaker.
Cheers!
Have a nice day :)

Is there a version of the "All-Encompassing Library" torrent without manchild shit like anime?

Like, a hundred-plus gigabyte torrent of hard-to-find epubs and manuals and scans of old zines

There is one that gets passed around on /his/ occasionally.

It's roughly a mirror of /his/ the board, full of road-to-patricianage /lit/core, occult magic stuff from /x/, philosophy, and a fuckton of historical tomes. I don't have it on hand though.
>>
can't prove you with any links/content so I'm just gonna suggest thinking about the history of the novel and how you might use it to guide your reading selection

He whispered
That my plan was misconceived
That my special plan for this world was a terrible mistake
Because, he said, there is nothing to do and there is no where to go
There is nothing to be and there is no one to know
Your plan is a mistake, he repeated
This world is a mistake, I replied

Ligotti, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche. He'd listen exclusively to Linkin Park.

That's what makes him amazing though, he would be completely and utterly fucking insufferable as a character if it wasn't for Marty.

Was Meursault just autistic?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Absolutely. He's easily overwhelmed by sensory information like bright lights and heat, he speaks mostly in stilted robotic replies, he does the same stuff all the time, he sticks to weird principles that don't make any sense to anyone else.

He's certified autismo.

Doesn't he seem more aspie?

>Bateman's lawyer said that he had dinner with Owen ten days
>Bateman's lawyer also confuses him with someone else
>therefore, it is possible that the lawyer did not actually have dinner with Owen (confusing him with someone else yet again) and that he really was dead
Any thoughts?

im bad at writing.
i bomb every written exam and essay
hardly pull out a D or a C if im lucky.
im not a native english speaker and the exams and essays are not in english either
i just assume there are some basic rules of writing that i am not aware of.
Ive tried asking my professor but she wont help me at all, so i just have to sit on the sidelines while the rest of my class seemingly know what theyre doing.I tried asking my classmates, theyre of no help.
I dont even know the basic rules of writing is there like a book or some shit that i can read or do to improve my writing?

Sidenote: i forgot to mention i also have dysgraphia.
