Can anyone recommend a book that critique's Marx's economic theory and hegelian nonsense in a fair way that doesn't rely on attacking his character or the atrocities inspired by them?
>>9988099
>recommend me a book to reaffirm something I'll take as a truism regardless
Go start with the Greeks brainlet
>>9988114
Nah, I'll read the criticism critically

I'm reading through his work now and I want to know what he apparently got so wrong
>Inb4 human nature
I'm talking about his theory of production and his dialectical materialism
What are some good books or authors for people new to reading as a hobby?
>pic unrelated
I don't mean books for toddlers, but light, enjoyable, relatively short reads for people who don't normally sit down to enjoy a novel. The only reading I ever do is from non-fiction, reference books, etc. I have a horrible habit of trying to start something like The Lord of the Rings before having to put it down for a few days/weeks making it awkward to pick up and carry on with again due to its length and tangential nature.

Joseph Conrad.

Any fiction with aesthetics of decay and filth? Think rust, rotten wood, dust, creepy crawlies and so on. No poo-poo pee-pee please.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is right up your alley.
So is maybe Ballard's work? Drowned World?
>>9988030
The library didn't have the Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, but maybe I can transfer it from another library.
Drowned World seems right up my alley too.
Thanks a lot!

What are some books that deal with dreams and dream logic?
Meyrink's The Golem and the Dream Story by Schitzler come to mind.
Finnegan's Wake.
Jung also talks about dreams often but then again, you'd actually have to read Jung.
Nostalgia by Cartarescu
Why is that out of all the minorities homosexuals are by far the strongest contributors to Western philosophy.
Wittengenstein and Foucault have had more influence than all of the black and Hispanic in the western cannon combined. This isn't even counting any of the Greeks as possible homosexuals.

Because philosophy was gay from its beginning. Socrates was a well-known homo - our whole tradition of western thought rests on the work of a gay man.

Queer folk in general are more prone to introspection, makes sense that they'd then be inclined to writing and thought. I also recall some statistics that pointed to higher IQs and higher incidence of mental illness.
Loneliness, the feeling of outsiderdom and the lack of a family life leads to increased introspection, disposable funds and time to devote to hobbies/creative pursuits?
And depression.
How lucrative is the fujoshi demographic?
Because they're pumping out millions of words of truly terrible fanfiction to satisfy their lust for man on man action, I'm starting to think they have a shortage of original novelistic content.
On the other hand, fujoshits are not mainstream, and probably have sexual problems (such as being fat) which lead to social problems (being looked down on by popular fit girls.) This means everything is very under-the-counter and not much about their sexual perversion is discussed in public. This would be bad for word-of-mouth sales.
What do you think, /lit/?
>>9987717
Niche is lucrative.
Freaks are willing to pay a shitton of money to satisfy their weird fetishes.
>>9987730
Any anecdotes?
>>9988930
I saw this one guy one hentaifoundry who bought a half-dozen or so commissions of this same scene, one dickgirl tattooing another dickgirl, each from a different artist for 300 USD a piece. Every now and then for several months I would click through the site and see a new version of that picture and think "Oh, it's that guy again". Guess he finally found the perfect one because it stopped after a while
Any good books on artificial intelligence and AGI?
I made a new thread since the other thread has been brigaded and any on-topic post there is flooded.

Singularity is not coming anytime soon
lol
Ok, I'll read that.
>>9987948
For such a meme cover it sounds interesting enough.
Post book covers with women's nether regions on them.

Why is The Bard considered the GOAT?
>nuanced, very human characters
>all stories since him have been based off his archetypes
>master of words - used different meanings to provide multiple interpretations of just about everything.

Only to those who have never read Proust or Joyce
>>9987540
I haven't read Proust (yet), but I didn't like Joyce at all.

One of the most basic tenets of philosophy is reflection. No matter what Wittgenstein has to say I really don't see how the opposite can be positive and the outcome to be a good life.
>>9987355
Haven't read On Certainty, but I'm familiar with the gist of early and late Witty. By reflection do you mean the complete transparency of a mind to itself? I think second-generation cognitive science has pretty well established the idea of a cognitive unconscious. Reflection (under a definition similar to that above) doesn't seem to be enough anymore. :/

What are the best (most complete) books (not fiction, damn it's cringy) about it? Preferably about the whole thing, but if there aren't any complete sources just Ragnarök will do.
Things like epics/poems are more than welcome, but I figure there isn't anyone like Homer/Herodotus for them...
Thanks!
This is pretty fucking great.
The audiobook is great.
Eddas

Snorri Sturluson?
Name one good book that's come out in the last 20 years. Can't do it? Thought so...

Pick up any kind of sports, preferably a 1v1 one where each match has a winner and a loser.
Then try becoming really good at it.
I've lost all connection to my former ideas and worldview
I have no presuppositions or beliefs anymore
My mind is now effectively a blank slate
Which philosophy would /lit/ recommend to start my rebirth with?
>>9987014
Philosophical Investigations. I'm not kidding either, he'll return you to the essence of your thoughts and remind you of what is important. Don't get caught up in academic interpretations, let him stimulate your own thoughts.

Plato is the best place to start.
