What other stories involve a place of residency, where the owner allows strangers to come in and treat it as like a sanctuary?
I'm talking specifically of a concept where the owner of said residency is a big shot in their field, but they allow people who are lost or disenfranchised to stay there for any period of time until they feel ready to face the world again.
It's a very appealing idea, something I hope I'd do if I were in any position of power. Anyone can come in, help themselves to food, bedding and bathing facilities, as long as they respect me, the property and the other guests.

I'm just going to let you know now that you will be rejected by every publisher. It's dull, the prose is juvenile and uninspiring, and nobody really wants to read about a bunch of degenerates dealing drugs.
The first sentence alone made me want to reject it. It's awful. There are also many grammatical errors throughout.

How much do we objectively know about him? I know most people accept the early dialogues as more or less historical accounts but is there any proof that specific events like the apology actually happened? How do we know where to draw the line between Socrates the historical figure and Socrates the character, which is obviously just a fiction by the time you get to The Republic.
