>TACTICAL NEGRO IMPERSONATION
What did he mean by this?
So now he looks like a wizard or monk or something instead of an oh-so-badass h4x0r? Is it just aging or does it have something to do with writing Anathem and all that other shit with a dip pen?

night fighters, lmao
so im writing a sentnce with the phras "to read my library books before their due," with "due" here meaning a noun: "a person's right; what is owed to someone." "their" here dnotes possession of due, but i think people will think I misspelld the contractd form of "they are due," bcause "due" is more commonly adjective than it is a noun, esp. about library books. I don't want to be misinterpreted, wat do?
>>9411472
>wat due
Fixed
>>9411477
nice
>>9411472
Use "there due"
Are there any writers/philosophers who argue that the written word is actually not great for thought, and that most critical information should be absorbed through speech?
Are there authors/ philosophers who argue for or against the existence of half-button presses?

'Omnivore's Dilemma' is not something which technically falls into this, but it might be an interesting reading.

Can somebody sell me on the multiple Thomas Pynchon theory? Is there any basis behind it, or is this just extrapolating from his privacy/secrecy?
I need to write a research paper for my literature class, and this seems pretty interesting as a topic.
I'm not sure what the multiple Pynchon theory is. Bit if its lime most of the other "Multiple contributor, Shakespeare wasnt Shakespeare, Aristotle didn't exist, ect ect ect" crack pot tin foil theories I don't know why people find them interesting. It's probably just contrarianism. Maybe everyone just wants to Dan Brown and DaVinci code every aspect of western civilization until nothing means anything or is representative of anything at all. Jesus had kids, no Jesus was gay. No Jesus was gay and had kids and invented Starbucks. It's all just too much autism.
>>9411223
dfw was pynchon
>>9411223
Pynchon probably lives in a nuclear-powered submarine, which zigzags its way from Hawaii to the Californian coast. He has never left it, actually, in over forty years. He calls it, lovingly, USS 'Moira'. And the only sustenance he has is gallons of apple cider vinegar, which he "recycles" over the years. When he needs to send a manuscript to his publishers, he just dictates it via sonar, using the San Francisco Bay as a physical map for his secret alphabet, which can only be deciphered by finding Libertatia and its monoliths, which are clues. Each sentence takes over 10 minutes to dictate, and 10 hours to decipher, since it's dependent on the sundial monoliths in Libertatia, where there is no reception for one to simply record the sundials "happening".
Why does war make the best stories?
Because peace is fucking gay
I don't know
Because there its ok to sleep with your same sex cousin without people freaking out.

What books helped you fix your life? Whatever it was, if you could recommend anything that was more than just a ''cookbook list'' on how to take control back, recommend it.

I'm starting reading as a hobby and would like to start with some classics.
Do you guys have any tips on how to avoid fucking up my collection? I'll be buying paperbacks.
Is Penguin Classics a good choice or just a meme? For Homer I'll get Lattimore's translations.

is it better to be subtle or forthright about the political/social message of a book?

Better for whom or what?
Good art is always subtle.
