Not that I'm too concerned with what readers or critics should think of me (ambitious as that is), but I still should consider other perspectives to see what might work or not work.

What verses were you discussing?
Sorry I hate to be annoying but I've never been to one nor do I ever expect to but I'd want to know what it's like.
Do you just discuss the historical context of the verses? Their theological significance? Interpretation?
Or is it just how to extract lessons for your life, i.e like a self help manual?

Philippians 3:1-7, although about a third of it was on the first damn verse.

I hadn't been to one before either, it was a baptist group. There was a bit of theological background, e.g. the pastor explaining Paul's objection to circumcision. The thing is, I knew it all already and the pastor explained it in a torturously drawn-out way. So yeah, it was mostly treated as a sermon about how to live, the wider historical context wasn't touched on at all.

Well for me I just realized at some point that I am constantly learning, and as such there must be a large amount of information I don't currently and will never have. It's entirely possible for everything to actually have some sort of meaning and I'm just ignorant of it.

It sounds silly when you go from "I did it because nothing matters" to "I did it because I couldn't tell if it mattered".

This is the way I feel about my internet one now. The form was such a high concept, but the content was so seamlessly intertwined that people only understood the decontextualised pieces. I tried hinting towards the whole, as it was sort of beautiful, but even those who understood it were dismissive. I guess there's something to be said of hanging many wooden sculptures in the same forests rather than many forests and different sculptures. Oh well, back to the cauldron.
