Remember that time when a neoreactionary came to /lit/ and none of you marxist faggots had any valid criticism against him? I do.

Yes. People here are afraid to own up to the fact that the past 5 years of listening to Zizek sniff his own ass on youtube has come to naught while the far-right has co-opted the postmodern tactics of fagcault and his froggy faggot friends and is now the new counter culture.
>>9477503
I've seen more than one recent article on the right-wing embracing postmodernism. I find it really fascinating. Is there any scholarly work out on the subject yet?
For those of you that write, do you incorporate or reference imageboard culture or attitude in your works?
If it's relevant. I'm not going to reference memes or anything like that which is only going to be forgotten in 6 months.

No. Why would I? This place is certainly better than reddit, but it's still toxic and not at all inspiring.

What are the best books to read about ancient Mesopotamia? Also, is there any fiction set in this kind of setting?
>>9477203

This is 25 years old, have we learned nothing substantially new in that time?
>>9477258
do you really think there are some kind of big ground breaking discoveries being made in the middle east all the time? 90% of the shit we know about ancient egypt and mesopotamia is from the same 3 greeks sources we've had since some guy fleeing the sack of constantinople brought them to florence or whatever...
Does cyberpunk have to be dystopian or can it be antiutopian?
>>9477154
literally who gives a fuck
>>9477154
these are synonyms
also cyberpunk can be neutral. But it can't be utopian
>>9477154
How are these not the same? Besides, if it's punk, it implies low life: there is futurism (the contemporary trend and not the italian movement) for everything else that does not imply low life.
That said, it doesn't have to be all out dystopian, but cyberpunk must invariably point out the problematic aspects that remain, or even arise out of, high tech.

hey /lit/
after getting out of depression, ive finally found the inspiration to start writing again, but now that i've started writing and i have a setting with characters that i like and feel like i can develop a lot, i'm having trouble coming up with a cohesive plot.
what i have currently is that the uncle of an orphaned nephew leaves the village with his friend to see his old friend who's a researcher looking into lichdom/immortality, while the nephew meets a child who shouts about how she's a wizard and is extremely powerful (wizards, and magic in general are extremely rare and mostly thought to be nonexistent besides within elves).
the uncle has nightmares of a lovecraftian creature deep beneath the planet's surface, as well, and is very slowly being driven insane by it. the creature isn't a villain, but rather just this organism that's fallen asleep thousands of years ago and subtly influences the world with its small shifts and breathing.
i can't think of any sort of plot to go off of which would somehow connect all of the dots, which is why i'm here. does anyone have any ideas? i'm open to critiques, as well (though there isn't much to critique yet lol)
should add that the child is, indeed, a wizard, and that the guy trying to become immortal is generally hated for what he's doing, and he got kicked out of where he was previously for it (which is why he only just now invited his friend, the uncle, to visit him)

Are there any art appreciation books worth my while? Specifically for classical art (pic obviously unrelated in that regard), but I'd be willing to read about more modern shit as well.
Can we also just casually discuss visual art ITT? What's your favorite piece?

I do, though. It's also work from home, so no commute, so even fewer hours.

Security guard here. Though it isn't low hour, you get paid to spend a lot of time doing what you want. I read at least two books a week at this job, plus write and shitpost plenty. I watch every baseball game I want, and jerk off probably once per shift.

Might as well post that there too:
Is it necessary to begin with The Greek to begin with the /lit/'s world ?
I don't want to read greek myths, I'd like to read some classic meme, the most famous pieces of work done and from there, find my way up to more discreet books, and maybe come back to the greek.
Is it very problematic to start with the most famous book (things like Hugo, Hemingway, Poe etc.) instead of what is advised by /lit/ ?
I want to take up reading as a hobby, is it also wrong if I begin with meme shit tier like Harry Potter (I like reading them from time to time and it could ease the setting up of the hobby) or should I man up and get my hands dirty with more "classic" books ?
