got lucky and was accepted to Stanford. convince me not to major in English.
shit at math or id do CS; although, I feel in 5 years it'll be the new MEME degree.
You don't need to be good at math to do CS. You'll make more money with a degree in CS than a degree in English.

Oh boy do I have news for you

I have one that I write in once a month, but whenever I write something I always sound like a faggot when I reread it.
>>9503964
I have the opposite, I feel like a faggot when I write something, but when I reread I'm surprised how lucid and non-homosexual I am.

HUBBA HUBBA MOMMY MOMMY ANON WANT MILKY
Was Shakespeare the first person to use the forbidden lovers trope, or was he just the first person to do it well and popularize it? No way he was the first person to think of something like Romeo and Juliet.
>>9503416
romeo and juliette was literally stolen from pre-existing Italian plays you dense luddite
Forbidden love is as old as writting itself.
>>9503424
Hey man, you seem stressed, so I just want to tell you that I love you.
What the fuck was his problem?
>>9503089
No idea but his correspondence with Nietzsche was fucking hilarious.

It's like.. it's like he could see what's coming and did not approve!
>author rhymes "move" with "love"
They used to rhyme in the 16th century
>I am retarded please rape my face
If intended, a species of off rhyme, i.e. a legit poetic device, or usage. Can be quite effective.

Wanna do a book heist senpai?
So I found my problem with literature: I have so many books I want to read, that when I finally sit down to read a book, I can't get into it to properly enjoy it because I'm more focused on finishing it than experiencing it.
How the fuck do I experience a book?
I am an autist so I of course read fanfictions before I sleep, and I'll frequently sit up for hours at a time past my regular sleeping schedule reading entire 250,000 word stories effortlessly and tirelessly.
Why is it different for books? Why can't I get into books like I can with fanfiction?
Do you enjoy reading books? Or do you just want to be a person who enjoys reading books?
In twenty or thirty years you'll have read thousands of books so why stress about finishing them? It's not a race.
>>9502875
I have this problem too. The trick is to not think of any other books while you're reading a book.

I want commies to leave
>le red pill
his next book should be called maps of memeing!i posted this joke on /tv/ and didn't get a single (you) hope /lit/ won't disappoint me too
Seriously, what are the chances of him dying before Winds of Winter or ASOIAF is completed?
Well don't tell anyone I said this, but he was diagnosed with a massive tumor. It's not all fat down there actually. Due to the increased income from book sales, Martin was able to avail himself of prostitutes, by which he was informed, during the eating out of his asshole, that he should get that lump checked out.
>>9502756
I don't see any possible way he is going to survive to finish the series. Assuming AWOW will be out before the end of this year (It won't). It takes him on average an entire decade to finish a book. By that time he'll be pushing 80 and at his weight... nah.
>>9502778
Correction: Half a decade, but even then.
Why does referencing other things make a work "better?" This kind of logic is applied to books, movies (Woody Allen), music (rap).. yet doesnt seem to hold any real value
>>9502703
relatability. also makes your cock huge. in many different ways.
Woody Allen is a fine director, despite his annoying namedroping, not because of it.
Who said that? The answer is nobody. You, and everyone like you, create the idea in your head when something intimidates you with references you dont know. Its a defense mechanism. You project the implication that someone like an artist or an author who does that is trying to make the statement that the reference is inherent to the quality of the work. But they're really, really not. Because they're not saying anything. They're just making art. It's a delusion, perpetuated only by insecure fuckboys who, instead of broadening themselves when confronted with something intimidating, instead try to call into question the entirety of the system that made them uncomfortable.
Just stop it. If you don't get a reference, go fucking figure it out, or put the book down. Either answer is correct. What is incorrect is to, instead of interacting with what is front of you, to intellectually retreat into your turtle shell and desperately try to explain away everything above your head. This is such pseud mentality, and its everywhere. Shake it off, homeboy. Do a fucking google search. Quit hating yourself.
