If a poet doesn't write in poetic meter, where is the skill in their poetry? Oh, they have a nicely imagined phrase?

>Wow... So much... Skill... No wonder poetry is so admired... These days...

You'll come around.

The term "irregular meter" was created to keep discontented, transitionists like you happy. Look at a poem for what it is, not what it isn't.

There's a lot of discussion on here about fiction, but I'm curious if you guys have a favorite non-fiction book or recommendation? What do you think the different take-aways are from reading non-fiction vs fiction?

Not trying to be a complete asshole, but how could people contend that continental theory could even be compared to the work that analytics philosophers have done in the later half of the 20th century?

I'm currently shocked by the realisation that nobody is ever happy. When you think about all the things that you've never had or never been able to experience you suffer. When they finally come true you rapidly find other reasons to feel miserable about. What first was your dream becomes your standard and you're left exactly as you were before.

What are some books that I can read if I want to dwell on this thought like a pig rolling in poop?

But these things I desire make me happy. Whenever I dream of a new thing to do, I feel happy through and through, even when I know it won't be anything special when I actually achieve it.
>>
>>9505325

Take an advice from dear Marsilio Ficino: non felix, laboriosa.
>>
but that's exactly why real happiness comes from within.

Can we post essays we've written in school on here? I'd like to know what you guys think of my personal essay: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bb49shK6XkXq_LkMtL1u6uuGW41O5de67dlmDmbkvrM/edit?usp=sharing

Last time I made this thread, no one gave me an essay to read. Let's change that! I want to read your essays!

I don't write essays in English, so I won't share any. I got a question for you, thought. What exactly are you trying to say? It seems to be an essay on aesthetics, but it's written in such a terribly unsystematic way that most terms rest on vague intuitions, rendering the content largely unintelligible.
Perhaps I'm just not used to this more literary style of essais.
>>
>>9505336
It's a personal essay on the topic of transcendence.
>>
>>9505369
And why did you decide to write it down? For the philosophical significance or because you think it has literary merit?
(Please don't read these question as being condescending. That's not at all the intention. I just want to understand your essay better)

>'This is a cool radio station,’ it said to its sister. ‘The radio isn’t on,’ its sister replied, concerned. Vauung learnt that the ruin’s unconscious contained an entire pop industry. The ruin learnt that it had arrived, somewhere on the motorway. Nothing more was said about it. Why upset your family?
