So I realized one can't be gay and Christian, and finally went full fedora. Funnily enough, it was mostly due to the Other chan's /christian/ board, but also somewhat due to my mother's religious sensibilities and her attitudes towards me.
I'm not flaming: Hell, I hate telling people I'm gay, and find Pride to be stupid. But I still dislike Christianity, despite having grown up in a somewhat devout household. Especially going on the /christian/ and seeing how much these Christians - of all denominations - actually hate you, call you degenerate, say condescending stuff, and, in all honesty, would burn you at the stake if they had the chance.
All this time I tried to be like some uncle Tom: I thought maybe I be an example of a homo Catholic who wasn't a flaming fag. But see, they don't care: they still hate you, and will pull passages about how much of an abomination one is (the same passages that forbid mixing dairy and meat, or wearing clothes made of different fabrics together - funnily enough, I got called 'FEDORA!' when I asked why they didn't follow these).
And see, even if God and the whole religion were real, no homo should debase himself to worship or even please this deity. Because despite what all the fundies say, I was born a homo - I didn't choose it, I wasn't molested. I simply always was attracted to the same-sex, even as a young child... But if God were real (thankfully, he's not), why would a homo worship him? True, sexual orientation may not comprise your entire identity as an individual, but you'd be a liar to say it isn't a large part of what makes you 'you'.
I am a Christian and I love you but religious people hate gays.
It means you're going to hell if you like men. You honestly can't be both.
Im straight and Christian but I love you anon.
>straight and Christian
Please fuck off somewhere else if you want to proselytize. I spent 15 years of my life in the church, and am extremely glad to have finally gotten over all that self-hate and guilt. It almost feels refreshing now, when I see stats on how religiosity in the West is dying, whereas it used to distress me.
Why should I care if the Christian religion does well? Why defend it? It hates me - teaches that I am some disgusting Hell-spawn. I should have wised up sooner and realized that I was being a cuck, and that the religion is not even real. And like I said, even if it was, I wouldn't bow down to that kike blood god.
>Im straight and Christian but I love you anon.
assuming jesus actually loves the people on this earth for all there flaw, when he actually says that anyone who sins doesn't actually believe in him, even if they say they do. this is the same guy who destroyed an entire civilization because of butt-sex. the god you think you know is actually a narcissistic power hungry monster, who wants to see everyone in this world die. if you think that's an acceptable god to believe in then good luck! god is dead, which is probably a good thing, because according to the bible, if he was still alive he'd still be causing mass-genocide towards your brothers and sisters on this earth. Christ himself has made it pretty clear that he wants every sinner to die, even the ones who love and respect him, but have sinned because of the imbalances he's made in this world. don't listen to what you've been told to believes, beliefs like that only hurt good people. sinners are inherently flawed, but they're not bad people. the people in this world are capable of great things, they just need guidance from the right people, and not a narcissistic genocidal god, who hides behind indoctrination, instead of feeding the people the knowledge they need to be good. i'm sorry that you've been forced to believe the things you do. i hope one day you see the truth, that knowledge is the only true path to world peace.
It sucks anon, but you will get past this. Fortunately, religiosity is on the decline in first world nations (I'm assuming you're a first worlder).
I would recommend moving to be a big gay liberal city where the percentage of bigoted christfags is minimal, because this shitlords really do affect the quality of our life.
You can have same sex attraction and be a part of the church. Everyone has their own 'cross' to bear. If you were a part of a church where you were shamed for being open about your sexual attraction, then its a good thing you left. That aside, you will never find a perfect community, as only God's love is perfect. Haters are everywhere.
Nope, I'm done with religion, and I've never felt happier about it.
>yfw Christcucks are actually perplexed as to why the very people they constantly call 'sinners' and damn to Hell are so anti-Christian
You know one of the things that most pissed me off was "I'll pray for you". That alone was a greater insult than being straight up told 'fuck you'.
>of all denominations
Check out UCC
Generally more liberal and cool, my grandparents are both ministers and preformed gay marriage ceremonies before it was legal for them to actually get married,
What thread did you post on? I was on otherchan too.
I defended homosexuality in the thread "Pope Francis: "Gay marriage is not part of God's dream""
I am ID 6a9c72
You may find some insight. Please do not leave the faith entirely. I made some very good points regarding sexuality.
>But if God were real (thankfully, he's not), why would a homo worship him
I don't know, I've been tempted to go back to the faith, and I've seriously been questioning why I am the way I am. We still don't know why people are gay. I feel like if someone is gay and they had a history of abuse they'd just blame it on the abuse but people like you and me OP, we never underwent anything like that. People are all too eager to blame the gay on someone's traumatic past, but this doesn't answer for the people who were abused/raped and turn out straight. I remember being attracted to girls early on but then that went away when puberty kicked in. I keep asking myself maybe it was how isolated I became in my early teens, or maybe I was abused but just repressed the memory.
People do hate us though, I can feel it when a christian says how degenerate and perverted I am, there's no love there, they truly hold ill will against me. I realize my sexuality is aberrant, it's not right, it's a misuse of my biology. I didn't ask for this to happen and the assholes giving me shit for it don't even know what it's like, they just think it's something you can snap your fingers and just stop it, but it's not. Truth be told, I think they hate us because we don't fit into their religious world view, they can't fathom someone actually being born this way, because why would God make a homo if he explicitly speaks against them in the bible. Their only venue is to hate you, because in their mind you're choosing this.
I used to be somewhat like you.
Just realize that Christianity is a bunch of non-existent bullshit. There may be a God somewhere out there, but he certainly won't be the one from the Bible. Just look at the evolution of Judaism and Christianity - does it look 'real' to you? The fact that the Yahweh of the OT is an appropriation of many gods, the fact that the Hebrews were never in Egypt, and that they worshiped a multitude of deities that they eventually morphed into one single being... Or the New Testament, with none of the gospels being written in the lifetime of Christ, all the gospels written decades after, if not centuries, by authors pretending to be the original apostles. Look at all the councils they have had: Nicaea, Chaldon, Trent, and all the others, where they had to either add or throw out books and say what's right/wrong - does it seem like any of it is going to be real?
Just stop giving a shit - none of it's real. All the religions are stupid forced memes that were popular thousands of years ago but have overstayed their welcome.
I don't understand why Christians are so homophobic, it's not like Christ has ever said anything homophobic. Pretty sure most of the new testement homophobia is just Jesus's disciples being knuckleheads.
>it's not like Christ has ever said anything homophobic
They cite claims in Acts and also say that because Jesus is God made flesh and God instructed the Israelites to kill the gays then Jesus also thought gays were bad but somehow the shellfish and clothing stuff was cancelled out, don't ask me how.
>I just enjoy the tradition and order present within the church.
What? The only redeeming qualities the (Catholic) Church ever had were its traditions and its order, and it lost these after Vatican II in the 1960s. It doesn't even have any of the 'tradition' you so claim to love.
In a few and very select parishes only.
Even so, I'm not going back. I already took down all the icons and crucifixes from my room and stored them in a box in a garage to give away.
I feel like we're opposites, I've literally been a fedora since before I started high school and am 21 now. It sounds really gay but I felt a "calling", maybe not to the church, but to something spiritual, it's probably my psyche going mad from the lack of order and direction in my life.
I am a special snowflake atheist Christian. I support the existance of Christianity because without it plebs live lives of absolute hedonism and depravity. I believe that there should be a reform that said. Christianity's rejection of homosexuality has made homosexuals reject it in turn, which has resulted in them being massive promiscuous sluts. Some Christian teachings like absolute monogamy and waiting for marriage are excellent, but lack of Christianity within the gay community has turned the entire culture into a toxic shitfest of hedonism and leftism. If the church had accepted us before the leftists did we'd all be living moral and pure lives with our husbands. But leftists politisised homosexuality into their agenda by creating the LGBT lobby. People naturally seek to belong, and that leftist cult was the only group to accept us, it became the only means we had to fight for our rights. As a result we were corrupted by it.
It feels really damn good to just say 'fuck it!' I have no obligation to defend or even worship an organization or the deity that claims I am inherently disgusting and evil.
I see your point, and I agree with you. But seeing that nowadays, the Christian religion and homo acceptance will never be reconciled, I have to choose, and really, the Christian religion has nothing to offer me besides really vague, lofty, and possibly false claims of a boring afterlife, and all while expecting me to believe without any sort of proof.
All Christian denominations claim that the apostles were possessed of the Holy Spirit when they preached - ergo, God was speaking directly through them, so any condemnation they made was an explicit condemnation from God Himself
What I'm trying to say is that it could've been God speaking through them, but He is still speaking through a human medium, so you're inclined to get some more personal remarks from a person. It's arguable if they were doing it out of love though, I mean not all love is hugs and kind words.
Ex catholic gay guy myself.
And from your story and the countless others I've heard I am more than a little bit grateful that my parish had hounded my mother out of the community for being divorced/raising my sister and I in a single parent household a few years before I came outa the closet. By the time I kicked my Catholicism habit my CCD and confirmation class were organizing students into yes on 8 marches.
Anywho hopefully you have a few Catholics in your life that weren't complete shits to you. I've stumbled across a few apostate Catholics and extremely liberal ones that have been genuinely nice supportive folks. That said I believe they might literally be the one in a million Catholics who are willing to rise above their religion to become better people.
Good luck OP.
You should pick a better god tbqh, the abrahamic one is such an asshole, totally looks like a cartoony villain.
>yfw Christcucks are actually perplexed as to why the very people they constantly call 'sinners' and damn to Hell are so anti-Christian
One thing that could help explain this is that Christian doctrine says that ALL people are sinners. Homosexuality is no worse than any one of the perversions held by any Christian, be it love of money, pornography addiction, self-righteousness, or any other. Depending on the sect, either everyone is going to heaven, they go to purgatory first to work off all the sin (everyone is a sinner), or all sinners would go to hell, but Jesus Christ saves them.
A boyfriend who'd stay with you even though you're not a twink anymore? Even though that's the reason you were able to snag this hypothetical guy in the first place?
Guys under 25 are generally immature. If you really want a bf, you're at the best age to have one.
But you know that. You just want to whine.
>But see, they don't care: they still hate you
And it's not just them, it's everyone.
They all consider us disgusting unnatural freaks and they all would rather not have to interact with human shaped vermin.
Like how one struggles with calling an atrocious movie good as to not upset their friends, they struggle with calling us human.
Honestly, the only true friend in this world we can trust is the closet we're hiding in.
Don't worry about it too much, OP.
Christianity has only existed for just under 2000 years; that's nothing in relation to the age of the Earth (5 billion years or so), let alone the universe (close to 14 billion years). Not to mention, there have been countless religions before Christianity. By going full atheist, you're just proving that you can differentiate between testable, logical, scientific theories and some ancient Jewish book made by desert dwellers who needed to be told not to murder people and impregnate their own sisters.
I mean, just think about it:
>Analysing scientific, modern, peer-reviewed data vs ad populum arguments.
>Something a whole group of experienced people agree on vs something people, often with less education, argue about often.
>Scientifically valid, self-supporting evidence vs ancient book that has been translated and transcribed countless times, which often contradicts itself.
>Occam's razor vs gut feelings.
Atheism only makes sense when you put your mind to it.
The argument I hear most from religious types is that "they're older and more experienced in life". Sure, if their age gives them more experience and knowledge of the whole universe, I'm sure they could all explain how the property of spin on electrons relates to the electronic configuration of an atomic sub-shell...
Now, go out there, enjoy looking at male bodies (let's be honest; we're on 4chan so none of us actually have sex), and do some science to take your mind off of it and remind yourself that you're right.
>Christianity has only existed for just under 2000 years; that's nothing in relation to the age of the Earth (5 billion years or so), let alone the universe (close to 14 billion years).
What's your point? Don't worry about it because we're temporally insignificant? Why follow with that whole spiel, then? How can you pontificate about the importance of one thing versus another if nothing is really that important?
>By going full atheist, you're just proving that you can differentiate between testable, logical, scientific theories and some ancient Jewish book made by desert dwellers who needed to be told not to murder people and impregnate their own sisters.
Cannot religious people differentiate thusly? (Rhetorical question. The answer is of course 'yes, they can and have for as long as religion--as long as humanity--has existed')
>What's your point? Don't worry about it because we're temporally insignificant? Why follow with that whole spiel, then? How can you pontificate about the importance of one thing versus another if nothing is really that important?
I was trying to suggest that, since it was just something that sprang into existence a short while ago without rhyme or reason, it is not an integral part of the universe that dictates all truth. If it were, it would have been present much earlier in human history.
>Cannot religious people differentiate thusly?
I agree; they can. However, since this thread pertains to Christianity, I decided to use the example of the Bible to represent religion. Similarly, all other major religions (can't speak for minor, as I'm not well acquainted with all of them) are flawed, irrelevant to modern affairs, and/or illogical in one way or another, despite their varying origins.
P.S. Humanity is much older than religion.

That has nothing to do with my question.
>P.S. Humanity is much older than religion.
I'm unconvinced, but it's not relevant anyway.
Jesus passed his magical powers to the saints through his holy semen though, it's a proven fact. I don't see how christians can pretend their belief system hates gay people to hide their own intolerance. Sexuallity wasn't really a thing then, you were either a dick giver or a dick taker.
This always makes me unreasonably angry when I hear people proclaiming to be pagans.
It's not because "fucking heretics reeee" it's more or less because yall don't have any basis to conduct pagan worship from outside of some old stories. Paganism was wiped out more or less centuries ago and now it consists of a bunch of LARPy losers who run around in the woods not knowing what the fuck they're doing. Paganism can basically be anything for anyone, to justify whatever ends they may have in mind.
I kind of respect the nationalistic pagans, who I argue are more akin to ancient pagans but then there's the druggy degenerate pagans who basically like paganism because in their minds it permits them to be as big of a piece of shit as they'd like.
