I ordered mine from ebay (a cheap CB6K knockoff), it came just in white packaging you'd expect from any other seller for any other product. no big deal.

I don't know how to make them but if you can work metal then that's a good place to start. Find out what normal base ring sizes are and cage dimensions. Go for something open and don't lock yourself into a situation where you can't get out within fifteen seconds if you decide to make something yourself.
