I had a dream, /k/.

Now keep in mind that I see the Desert Eagle as a ridiculous range toy. Yes, it's big, but that machismo feel does nothing for me. However, the thing is so fucking audacious that nearly anyone is feeling trolled by looking at it. Cowadooty kids will see it and fap because they saw it in some shitty game, or in some movie (and want to shoot it). People who know anything about firearms will look at it, laugh at the owner for the cost and the cost of ownership, maybe make a joke about the owner's penis (and want to shoot it). My only practical interest in it is that the action is really fascinating for a handgun, and I guess it beats a rifle for carrying in case of bears. Maybe. Probably not.

In essence, the Desert Eagle to me is the ultimate troll gun.

So in this dream, a friend of mine pointed to a box on the ground and said "Open that, it's for you."

Inside was a garish tiger striped Desert Eagle with the words "Because Fuck You" engraved on the slide. I knew what it meant. It wasn't because the gun is awesome. It's because it's an affront to all sensibility.

I love the emotions that erupt inside me when I see a weapon of violence, and the intent to use one. I love the memories of moments when I said no to violence, the missed opportunities from which my soulless body will be vindicated.

I like the eyes in the courtroom, or the tactical unit in pursuit, or the prison, every few hundred, of someone just like me, telling me that they have something much grander.

I like pressing them up against someone's clothing up to their skin, while whispering an order into their ear even when my way out has already been arranged by bribe or bullet.

I love boasting about it on anonymous forums where I can disclaim this by saying I'm just a 12 year old weabu gamer nekbeard who has never held a gun at the end of something like this without arising suspicion.

I need a point of focus in the real world. I used to carry my gameboy around as a kid because I didn't understand what was happening around me but I did understand how to push through Zelda dungeons.
I still barely understand what's happening around me, but in the extremely unlikely event that a gun would be useful, I can facilitate its usefulness.

Also I translate for a living, and violence is the one truly universal language, so that's something as well.

BSA Martini International mk1 and anschutz kk300 being the weirdest
with cap lock revolvers and some lever actions to mix things up

Not as practical as cars - still I'd rather shoot someone and know how to do it well if I needed to.

If I absolutely need an engine rebuilt, that can be done - I can take time to learn and do it or I can hire someone.

I'm not going to hire someone for a situation that most likely in my life will never occur, so I'd rather know what the fuck to do in a situation that immediately calls for me knowing what the fuck to do if I want the end result to be good in terms of my and my loved one's well-being.

Also they're intriguing - mechanically. It's the hobby I chose, the hobby I love, the hobby I have a knack for.
