Makes your dick bigger. Increases test. Girls flirt with you more. Id rather have a 45 if I had to shoot a dog, which is a real threat in San Antonio. Guns chambered in .45 are unobjectively the coolest guns. Many reasons, friend
>>28867371 Because they both kill niggers, spics, zipperhead, wetbacks, prairie, tundra, sand, and forest niggers. They will drop white trash, brown trash, hillbillies, squidbillies, goobacks, micks, guidos, slavs, chinks, Mongols, frogs, krauts, JAPS, WASPs, fags, steers, queers, otherkin and ayyliums.
>>28867371 I feel the recoil much less from a .45 pocket pistol than a 9mm. My keltec 9 is double stack and super light. It goes bang ever time but it kicks alot probably becuase its so light. A small .45 feel easier to shoot for me for follow up shots. And id practice with it more. As it stands my pocket 9mm gets 50 rounds through it like every 3 months cuase i hate the feel of it.
>>28868255 not sure if serious so, modern 9mm hollow point ammo is very effective, just as effective as .45. the problem with hollow point ammo is that it's effectiveness can be hindered by heavy clothing which can limit both expansion and penetration. On the other hand FMJ bullets offer great penetration but obviously no expansion so the idea is, if choosing FMJ ammo the larger .45 will cause more damage than a .9mm due to it's size.
A mythic status has developed around the .45 for quickly knocking people down with single shots. In reality the .45 is relatively weak like most pistol rounds and just like any other pistol round it's only going to drop someone quickly if it hits something vital like the heart, brain, spinal cord etc.
>>28868649 some people see .45 as having an advantage in that way, yes. but there are other options will JHP like Horady Critical Defense and Critical Duty which pre-plug the hollow point to keep fabric out or the new Lehigh "Xtreme Penetrator" ammo.
Just offering a reason to use a .45 over 9mm for EDC. Winter penetration and effectiveness of ball ammo is about the only one I've heard with merit.
>>28867371 Unless you are carrying a full size .45 that holds at least +13 rounds you are better off carrying a 9mm with more capacity or smaller with similar capacity. The performance difference between 9mm and .45 isn't big enough to carry half the rounds in carry-sized handguns.
>>28868858 Ockmans razor is real but if you need to keep shooting your target to save your life you do it. Very rarely is a bystander hit by either cops or ccw carriers in the real world. Dont get to hung up with it. Dump the mag .
Because It's the most comfortable round for me to shoot. I shot a suite of handguns in different sizes and the .45 was my love from day 1. I'm a lady with good discipline and training, but tiny wrists, so having a round I can shoot limp wristed, one handed, in a panic, in a rush, accurately, with quick follow ups, and for fun practicing. My Glock 36 does fine in my purse or on my side when I want, so the fraction of an inch and extra mag (purse only) makes life super easy.
there has been a trend toward single stack 9mm's for a while now and in 2014 the FBI announced they will be replacing their.40's with 9mm's. At the end of 2014 the FBI released a memo of sorts explaining their reasoning to Law enforcement departments and agency's. This has led to a run on 9mm and a ton of police trade-in .40's saturating the market.
It's humerus to me because when I bought my 9mm in the early 90's the exact opposite was happening with 9mm being dropped for .40's.
>>28868851 >because JHP's have been know to fail when shot through heavy clothing.
/k/ needs to learn how hollow points work.
Hollow-points only expand when they reach a liquid-like medium like flesh.
A hollow-point failing because of clothes does not mean it doesn't penetrate from getting stuck in the clothes, it 'fails' because it gets clogged in the cavity and does not expand, acting exactly like a FMJ round. (Unless you have some weird round)
Hollow-points don't expand in fucking phone books or drywall or anything else. Only water jugs and humans.
>>28875126 >>28875126 >A hollow-point failing because of clothes does not mean it doesn't penetrate from getting stuck in the clothes, it 'fails' because it gets clogged in the cavity and does not expand, acting exactly like a FMJ round. (Unless you have some weird round) Can you explain this further? Will a JHP reliably penetrate clothing and work just as well as FMJ at stopping an enemy, or no?
People say 'failure' like the JHP gets stuck in clothing and doesn't even enter the bad guys body. 'Failure' properly means JHP does not expand and acts like FMJ.
JHP against someone wearing 4 thick wool coats will penetrate MORE than if you shot someone wearing a white t-shirt. It 'fails' by not expanding then acts like FMJ.
But people see 'failure' and think it means a coat makes you invulnerable like a bulletproof vest.
JHP only expand in water-based mediums like the human body (I don't know about all the ballistic gel crap) anyway. But if you clog the cavity with clothes and fibers, even when it hits the persons flesh it won't expand.
JHP is at best, a JHP. At worse, a FMJ. This excludes meme rounds like anything by Hornady, G2 RIP, and other super fragmenting rounds.
>>28874370 .45 Super is the same dimensions as regular .45 acp, it just uses modern powder and thicker brass. It's more of a question of what is rated for the extra pressure, because everything can technically chamber it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45_Super >Manufacturers such as Heckler & Koch (USP and HK45), and Springfield Armory, Inc. currently offer pistols rated to fire .45 Super ‘out of the box’. Although they will chamber, the firing of .45 Super rounds in non-rated standard .45 ACP automatics is not recommended, as doing so risks a case failure in the unsupported chamber and at the very least would batter the slide and almost certainly shorten the life of the pistol.
