No we are talking about guys that are already in. We all do gear to stay in top shape.

During selection / courses you cant really be on gear but use it to lead up to it. if your in Army and going to try go for SF, you WILL be using gear. Most if not all infantry are on gear at some point.

No, but between training with your unit, training for SF selection and field its hard to get in shape fast enough. Your unit wont let you just train for SF and leave you alone.

The same as people who have gotten dropped when weed came up in their system, prescription drugs, even amphetamines (yes, really, it happens more than you would think).

It's not encouraged by leadership and you will get canned if you get caught with it in your system or in your possession the same as you would with anything else prohibited or illegal. The misnomer that "OPERATORS" get free passes and winks and nods on things like this is so wrong it's painful because in actuality it's the exact opposite.

SOCOM and parent branches (especially the Navy) have invested a huge amount of money into recruiting and hiring professional sports coaches, dietitians, and physiatrists over the last decade+.

Well you get selected at 12yo based on your scout rating and grades, then every sunday you get to wake your ass up at 3am and go do drills, study theory and marching
There is a lot of fucking marching
Then at 15 you get classified as a specialist depending on which specialty you get selected for you get supplementary training (I had comms so lots of physics, computers and languages)
At 17 you start doing the actual training, long marches, going innawoods and covering yourself in shit
If you do really well in the academics portion you also get pilot and tank training (minimal shit, single engine and t55 only for me)
