/k/ want a retro AR. What do you guys think of these? Crap or what?
Goddamned right I'm triggered
It means that upper is all kinds of fucked if it's meant to be an A1.
If you want an A1 build, now is a great time since Brownell's has started stocking NDS uppers and lowers.
Couple these with a parts kit and a barrel, and you should be good to go. If you want to assemble it piecemeal, this is also doable, mostly through AR15sport.com
I appreciate all the links and I'm gonna bookmark them and I do want to do a period correct version at some point but the main thing I'm asking is if it's shit quality and will break or anything
If you assemble it properly, no. The only fragile part would be the upper portions of the handguards due to the brittle nature of the materials used into their construction. Otherwise, they are light, sweet-shooting rifles that look cool and have almost no recoil.
>check out links for upper and lower
>it's done in black instead of gray
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I have no clue why that makes me so angry
Pretty much bottomed out on them, so you may have to wait for the next batch to show up, whenever that may be.
Yeah, I have no fucking clue why they did that when they offer both the upper -and- lower. Not like anyone is going to get either for a non-retro build, so why not go Colt Grey?
I have no clue when parts kits will be readily available again, and I doubt anyone else here could tell you either. I'd just go piecemeal, you can get everything needed from the links I provided. The only glaring omission I can see is the A1 safey selector, which can be had here; http://www.apexgunparts.com/colt-m16a1-safety-selector-lever-good-to-very-good.html
Cool thing about the A1 safety is that, even when installed with a civvie FCG, you can still switch it over to the Auto position. Not that that does anything beyond that, but it sure does feel cool.
no it's not shit quality but what these people are trying to tell you is that it's not an A1 upper. you see the brass deflector on your rguns OP link? A1s dont have a brass deflector. that is basically a c7 upper like someone else stated, which doesn't make it bad, it just isn't a period replica
I've never actually seen one in grey. they've all been a kinda blackish blue and purple.
>A2 flash hider
Thought you were gonna fix that shit fampai?
Don't act like you don't know senpai.
I'm gonna say around $800. That's how much I put into mine, if I recall.
AR15sport should get more early next month, so it's not a long wait. If you need it now, Del-Ton has one, but they aren't known for making superb AR components.
Keep in mind I'm only talking about barrels that have been already drilled out for the FSB, with it installed and pinned. If you're willing to do that or have a smith do it, Green Mountain can hook you up; http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/gm-m15-m16-a1-5-56mm-20-1-12-twist-20-barrel/
Totally caved and bought Brownells upper and lower I should get them tomorrow. I will post pics upon finishing the job so anons can decide if its worth the wait for xm grey painted receiver instead.
No, A1s had the cage hider.
Man, if only you were getting a slickside upper and a partial fence lower, you'd be the only person here with a proper 605 build.
Pretty much. There was some swappage during te transition period, but if you're doing an A1 build you get the cage hider.
If i could have gotten one in a pencil barrel I would've loved it but heavy barrel it is. Also comes with a low profile gas block that fits snugly in between the hand guards
that was the original plan but ive been slowly collecting parts since july and just got tired of waiting for nodak.
I better post 'em with greater frequency then. Thanks for telling me. :^
>plan to buy upper, lower, and barrel from brownells for A1 build
>uppers now sold out
this is why you don't wait it out like a tard
Huh, so now the pervading question of how soon, if ever, they will be restocked can be answered.
>now waiting for a load of black A1 builds to start popping up around here
For some reason mismatching uppers and lowers make my autism flare but I know that they will probably never match just like the original ones
I cheated and built a transitional 723 clone instead.
That way I could get away with using A2 parts instead of waiting the (at the time) year+ wait for a NDS receiver set.
Besides, A1 is best A.
And even based Vining used one.
Izzat the ones what shoots the tumbling boolits?
quick question for anyone who can answer it.
I bought a lower receiver and didnt know about the 21 y/o law. i did a bit of research and ATF defines that the once the lower receiver has been mated with a rifle barrel it is then deemed as a rifle. Couldn't I Just bring my upper receiver for the project in and just mate it there so it can be written off as a rifle on 4473?
I work at a gun store in NY. The owner is super strict when it comes to selling lowers to people under 21. But I guess it depends on how chill the people at the store are. I believe for the store to be able to sell it toy you as a rifle (you supply the rifle upper) they need to have a manufacture's license. I know it sounds dumb but that's what they tell us to tell customers who ask.
It'd be nice if the federal government wasn't such a faggot and just let us buy the original rifles as Colt built them, rather than having to go full autismal collecting accurate parts
Guess what came in today!!!! :D
But holy shit im glad i ordered this when I did!
Im still waiting on my lower but so far so good.
need to find a 07 FFl near my area though.
