Anything in particular I should know about it?
Anyone have bad or good experiences with Benchmades?
>>
>>28708545
I like my Benchmade fixed blade. I've beat the shit out of it and it just keeps on working fine.

Why do people not like them?
>>
>>28708561
Do people not like them?
I was under the impression they were essentially the standard in knives.
>>
>>28708579
I must have taken a few shit postings at face value then.

i love my 556, it's my primary edc,and my 940 is my second,i love them both, easy to manipulate with (open/close)strong lock, ambidextrous, imo the best blade shape...what else can i say,it's perfect for me as an edc.
>>
I love my mini griptillion. I carry it in my back pocket and I guess from all the weight I put on it made the clip loose. It wiggles around. I just haven't tightened it. It might be a potential issue. Other than that it's a solid knife. I have no ragrets
>>
>>28708545
I have a North Fork, really like it. Holds an edge well, and fits in my pocket perfectly.
>>
I carry an Emissary. Love it.
>>
I have 2, still can't find a better knife. i would suggest safety orange though.

Solid folder choice OP. Really hard to go wrong with any of the Griptilians. Great ergonomics. Solid locking mechanism. All around good knife.
>>
>>28708545

>he fell for the bitchmade meme
>>
>>28708545
Very happy with mine, OP. I noticed the black finish or whatever it is on the blade does wear off if you use it for more than opening mail with. Also don't expect the clip to stay black for long. Great knife, its easy for me to open/close one handed which I have to do sometimes.
>>
I've carried a 940 for about 3.5 years now, and I used to carry a 580 for about 4 years prior to when I got the 940.

Benchmade is great.
>>
>>28708545
Go buy two Spyderco or Kershaw knives instead. Does the same thing at half the price.

>>
How about their fixed blades? Any good to great ones?
>>
Is that guy who used to spam ESEE anti-narcotic knives still around? I used to lurk /k/ knife threads and they were nothing but shills and strong, stupid opinions.
>>
>>28708545

Mineral oil the blade from time to time. D2 isn't totally rust proof.
>>
>>28710716
What Griptilians come in D2? I thought they were 154CM with a few exceptions.
>>
>>28708545
Benchmade, in my experience, makes a good and reliable knife. If you should have any problems with it, their excellent customer service will take care of you.
>>
>>28710854

Cabelas exclusively sells the D2 version.
>>
>>28708545

I was very drunk and watching Barry Lyndon for the first time after getting my Vicar. The duels inspired me (I used to fence) and I swung it wildly around my room; when I tried to close it with my off-hand I slashed open my thumb.

Great knife, fits perfectly in my hand, never had any problems. Never ever use it practically though.
>>
>>28708545
It's a fantastic knife. I have the standard colored version and it's been so nice that when I lost it I bought an identical replacement.

>new benchmade shows up
>a week later find the lost knife in my kayak fishing bag
>now I have fucking 2

No regrets

Good purchase OP.

Will last a long time and take a good amount of abuse as an edc knife.

Things to remember:

IT IS NOT A PRY BAR

And

IT IS NOT FOR BATTONING
>>
>>28708545
Benchmade rocks. I love how I can send them all my knives back at any time and have them restore them to work like the day they came out the factory. They really do stand behind their products.
>>
I have a $15 kershaw that I'm mighty happy with. what do most expensive knives have to offer?
>>
>>28713156
Build quality, style, steel quality, name brand

The better steels hold and edge much longer, but are harder to sharpen so there's a trade off

Springs in a survival knife is more moving parts that can break, and in my experience they break a lot, without even doing shit with them. Fuck that. Spyderco rapes Benchmade all day.

To be fair it sucks when electric windows break, I've had to rebuild 3 of the four motors in my Lincoln, and completely replace the fourth. Had to drill out the rivets holding them in, and then it was a huge bitch working inside the doors though a tiny ass hole you can' t even see inside of cause your hands are in the way.

>Anything in particular I should know about it?

People seem to like them but I HATE them. I have your model and it's grip is very ugly and cheap feeling for a knife of that price. It should be no more than $60. I also HATE the axis lock. My natural instinct is to have it close on my fingers. I don't like the pinch motion at all and feel like it could easily be made to close unintended on you. It also takes practice to open and close it effectively. For example you can whip it open and let go of the lock and it will be sticking out like its completely unfolded but then you go to use it and it clicks.

I just feel like they are a dangerous kind of lock imo. I prefer spyderco, but I do have other benchmades, but they all have liner locks and spyderco holes.

>>28708545
>Anyone have bad or good experiences with Benchmades

Good experiences with them. They make great knives, but some of them are horribly overpriced, like I said above.

Here's my three. (I also have a Nagara but it's not a "real" BM.)

The Triage is an absolute workhorse. Mine has been to hell and back working in a race car tuning and fabrication shop, but you can barely tell by looking at it. This particular G10 is awesome, grippy as hell when covered in grime, and cleans up to almost new with a Magic Eraser. (It's been completely black with oil and shit before, but looks like this after cleaning.) The hook is incredibly useful for zipties and those nylon packing straps that wheel and suspension boxes come wrapped in, and the blade material holds an edge well and has held up impressively after being covered in chemicals and rinsed in the sink and then put away wet many times. The AXIS lock is also great for use with gloves.

The Ball Flipper is alright. It actually flips fine once it's broken in, despite what youtube reviews say. The blade shape is a good utility one, lots of belly for opening packages and stuff like that. The handle is somewhat uncomfortable, though, and the 154CM's edgeholding leaves much to be desired.

Finally, the Nakamura Axis is a thing of beauty. It's a gentleman's knife that can handle real work. They did something I really like with the carbon fiber, where the resin is relatively thin and enough of the texture remains to give you a good grip on the knife. S90V is great, but a pain to sharpen. I do find that the blade is a bit too light to flip well against the pressure of the AXIS lock, but that's a pretty minor issue.

I'm very interested in getting one of the new Griptilians, now that they have G10 and new steel. The FRN handle was always my biggest issue with that series.

Benchfag here, I really want to try a ZT, but I like to feel a knife in the hand before buying and none of my local dealers carry many ZTs. My usual place has been Benchmade LE/Mil dealer of the year for like 5 years in a row, so they have an awesome BM selection and not all that much else.
