When it comes down to modern military rifles, clean your gun and lubricate it and it will work just fine. Use what you can get and get parts and ammo for. Doesn't matter after that. Fighting which one can be filled and covered with mud and get through the most shots is plain childish.

Disappointed by the result, but not exactly surprised that it'd jam up. What is surprising to me is that the cause would be debris on the bolt face rather than gunk in the striker channel.

I'm gonna stick with my Vz.58 anyways though, since I'm a canacuck and I can't take an AR in the woods, but I'm definitely going to be more aware of mud and other shit getting in front of the bolt.

I kinda have a feeling that this kind of mud test does not really translate into real life. The test smacks a bunch of mud into the receiver and then immediately tests the rifle.
but under real situations it is mud and dirt that - over hours or days accumulates in the action of the rifle. i just cant see how a quick dab can give the same effect. WIth this test then a unluckly angle of the mud throw can be the difference between a clump of mud hitting nothing or THAT weak part that fucks up the gun.

Basically i want this test to happen over a few days of dusty, dirty use

The tests done are not that unrealistic. Yes it's a bit too much mud, still that mud they showed isn't something too uncommon.
Back in my conscript days I landed in a pile of watery mud and my G36 pretty much looked like the AR and AK.
That type of mud can easily happen in autumn Europe.
