I can't tell you the amount of time my unit wasted in Iraq playing nice with the locals and calming that shit down to a point where we weren't constantly getting into skirmishes outside the wire only to then have it fucked up by jarheads. The Marines took over our FOB in this one shithole (Sadr City) and in the span of 2 weeks proceeded to shoot the interpreter, hit a wedding procession with a .50 cal. All that time grinning at the Iraqis while they grinned back and waited for an excuse to raise hell, all that fucking effort brown nosing the fucking imams... shit was gone and the neighborhood went to hell cause of muh warrior culture

Pick one. Do 8 hour patrols, 8 hour post, 8 hour QRF and repeat for 7 months in Sangin, then bitch.

As for the guy bleeding out, depending on when you were deployed they may have had the super shitty tourniquets that were prone to breaking. We had one Ssgt that came from another unit and he showed us the AAR from his plt where a squad went through 10 of the fuckers in 5 minutes on a cas. Fucking 10. The shitty plastic would weaken over long sun exposure and snap when tightened down. It very well could have been the guy got hit by a sniper, tried to apply his tourniquets while the rest of the squad maneuvered, it/they snapped, he bled out. And before you say "hurr, go get him!" You don't when you don't know where the sniper is. It's shitty, it fucking sucks, but it's better than losing yet another guy. That's just speculation, but it has happened. Every marine gets trained in basic first aid. Every grunt gets it hammered home along with a million other things. Shitty equipment is just shit that happens, something you can sympathize with from your earlier posts.

And yes, there are shitty units and there are squared away units. I can say this though, I'd take even an Army POG over any foriegn military because jesus christ. You haven't seen shit until you've watched British Army grunts drop gear and put on running shoes to go for a jog around their OP. Motherfuckers went to the same spot every time too and were shocked, shocked I tell you, to find IEDS all over that spot after a week. And don't get me started on Jordanians, Georgians, Estonians and everyone's favorite, ANA and ANP.

Corpsman train their Marines pretty well in emergency medicine. Out of any Corps the Corpsman hold the most MOH's at 22. We take fucking pride in our combat medicine and training our Marines.
