Obsolete weapons still/brought back into service today.
Yemen restored its S-75 Dvinda/SA-2 Guidline missile system and took down a UAV.
South Sudan has been setting up S-125/SA-3 Goa missile systems.
Estonian soldier wielding a Carl Gustav M/45 (or "Swedish hacksaw" as they're often called over here).
>They certainly are by today's standards, doesn't make them any less effective against certain targets.
By what metric? It can take on and has downed F-16s. It is at the very least capable of taking down a large amount of current, in-service aircraft across the world.
I wouldn't call that "obsolete".
T-34 that was used in the Yugo wars.
Yeah, yeah I know its not "today" but still fairly close.
US soldier using a papasha in the sand countries.
Theres also a pic or two of him storming houses with it.
Obsolete doesn't mean not effective. A 1903 Springfield is obsolete, doesn't mean it's not effective.
Some of these rifles are built with receivers that are 120 years old.

>no longer produced
>pic of one obviously produced
makes you wonder where they get their spare parts
I mean most of that stuff is soviet, so "repairing" it can probably done with a few vac tubes, sheet metal and a 15mm fork wrench, maybe a few nuts and bolts, philips head screwdriver... and thats it
you also kinda need the techies to know which of the vac tubes goes where and which switch does what
New composite armor designed to take 14.5mm if i recall correctly.
Now, lets not bring up the fact that the composite armor started to break apart and flake when exposed to moisture and low temperatures. In Northern Norway. Where it always snows. And is fucking cold.
For fuck's sake it's NOT called a gavin.
It's called a M-113, and the only reason people think it's called a fucking gavin is because of a single retarded man named Mike Sparks, who has embarked on a 20 YEAR spamming campaign about calling it a gavin, and suggesting that it fill every single role in the army.
F-35 is a failure because it's a jack of all trades, master of none. When will the MORONIC defense establishment realize we need M-113 GAVINs to fulfill every role?!?

I was thinking of the original Aluminum, but that's pretty embarrassing too
Mike Sparks sailed into harbor
In his M one one and three
Ol' sparky hit the tavern
With his crew of fifty three
After drinking up their pay
They staggered through the town
But all the inns and public houses
Turned mike sparky down
Ol' Sparky said “Fear not, me lads
You all can come with me
I live just ‘round the corner
And you all can stay for free”
But when Mike Sparky’s wife awoke
Upon the break of day
They say that you could hear her wailin’
Clear to 4chan's kay…
She said there’s
Gavins all around the bed
And Gavins on the floor
Gavins in the bathroom
And behind the closet door
There’s Gavins in the fireplace
And Gavins in the hall
The living room is carpeted
With Gavins, wall to wall
There’s Gavins in the entryway
And Gavins on the stair
And worst of all, there’s even Gavins
In me underwear
There’s some behind the larder
And beneath the table, too
I do believe your Gavins
Got into me Irish stew
There’s Gavins here in front of me
And Gavins in the rear
My God—there’s even Gavins
Hanging from the chandelier
There’s Gavins on the windowsill
And Gavins in the yard
The Gavins even left a stain
Upon the Saint Bernard
Although I am a patient wife
‘Tis more than I can bear
To wake up in the morning
With your Gavins in my hair
I ne’er again do wish to see thee
Darken up my door
So clean up all your Gavins and
Come round my way no more
So clean up all your Gavins and
Come round my way no more!
T-34 used for training in Best Korea.
any SAM can be effective if it's part of a layered defense system. A lone SA-2 battery would be shit against a modern air force. But several SA-2 batteries intermingled with other more modern SAMs just adds to the layers of defense. If a country has them, no reason not to use them. If that's all they have, they might be in trouble though.
