So HMG has actually now built some Sturmgewehrs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwdNPQxL04E
>first ever assault rifle
There were multiple automatic individual weapons chambered in intermediate calibers before the StG44. It's only relevant because it was the first mass produced assault rifle.
>haven't fired the shitty rifle
>haven't fielded or tested the shitty rifle
>don't know the durability or effectiveness of the shitty rifle
>don't know anything about it
>call it shifty regardless
People being interested in the first rifle of its class.
Yeah they couldn't possibly just respect Schmeisser's design for what it is.
Thought the same thing. To be fair most you see are old war relics so it's probably tainting our perception. That said, if I get one, the first thing I'll do is refinish the wood darker and make it look old.
>Interesting rifle that isn't another AR-15 or 7.62 AKM
>ONLY NAZIS COULD LIKE THIS WEAPON!
You faggots are as insufferable the brady campaign faggots calling all gun owners rednecks. Guess Ian is a now a /pol/ Nazi for owning a semi auto FG-42 and showing interest in this reproduction weapon.
>had a chance to shoot a real STG in Budapest but didn't have the cash on hand
sadness consumes me as I watch this video
>most people are getting it in x39
What the fuck kameraden?
Isn't .300blk more powerful than x39 on the high side? And stanag mag commonality is awesome.
What kind of x39 mags does that config use, besides the historical repo mag? I'm guessing NOT ak mags.
This is a board mostly populated by people in animal costumes fucking each other's asses with FALs and you feel the need to suggest there's something objectionable about wanting an STG?
They said the most popular caliber will probably be x39 and due to the increased weight of the gun and the increased kick of x39 it would provide a more authentic feel. I'd imagine the 300 would be the sameish.
No skin off my back seeing that but I would question why anyone would do that when AKs and variants are cheaper/ have aftermarket.
Is there something the STG does better?>>28613367
>Is there something the STG does better?
Only one thing really, everything.
>Tfw Canadian, so it'll be many many years before the RCMP even bother to look at it
>They're just going to go LOLNOPE and ban it
>tfw guns have become boring to me
>sold off my guns so I only have two Glocks , a mid range AR a Mossberg 500A
>last machine gun shoot I've been to was boring and expensive
How do I reclaim the joy?
Any opinions on new production m1 carbines? They will retail for $1,100
What are the specs and if you say MIM I swear to god I will do nothing and be kind of upset.
It's a blowback design with more in common with a HiPoint carbine than a M1 and ontop of that are notoriously shit and poorly made.
>It's a blowback design with more in common with a HiPoint carbine than a M1 and ontop of that are notoriously shit and poorly made.
>I buy an M1 for the gas system
/k/ can be so fickle.
Check'd and I am not a fan of the Garand action for reliability though I think it's very neat and appreciate it's place in history but if you manage to make a fucking blowback unreliable there is something wrong with you.
>/k/ is one person
>And with rather poor reviews as well.
>maybe he buys m1s for quality
Which is hard to find among M1 repros anyway.
>but if you manage to make a fucking blowback unreliable there is something wrong with you.
It looks like Chiappa went with having a fuckhuge bolt and really strong return spring making it way too strong of an action for 9mm. I'm sure it would function better if you ground the bolt mass a little and put some mildly lighter return springs in there.
It's also appreciable that it uses M92 magazines instead of some proprietary shit.
I knew they were going to pull through with the project, I'm honestly more impressed with how short of a time frame it was from prototype to production
What I will be REALLY impressed with is if they make a STANAG x39 mag that isn't shit.
I've some in the 800 range, though not in the best condition. Thai police M1s, which are made by howa and are good quality, typically are around 600-800 last i checked a year ago. If you can find them.
The HMG-44 is based of using a STANAG magwell. The only proprietary mag is going to be the one for 8 Kurz, all others are going to be STANAG Compatible. That compatibility has been an issue with x39 in the past, and I want to see if they can do it.
Also, I wonder if they would be willing to make a 5.45 version
>tfw can't afford it right now.
They cut down unit cost a lot by investing to produce large numbers and by using H&Gay trigger packs.
They'll be in the red for the first few months or years, but if sales go as well as I think they will, HMG stands to make a nice profit.
>yfw you cant order one anymore till public release
>TFW poorfags on here said that they would never have one done in time for SHOT,
>TFW I have a X39 one on Pre order since day one
>TWW X39 is the most popular caliber for the same reasons why I got mine
>TFW Ian and his buddy are getting one in the same caliber for my exact same reasons
TFW Alpha as fuck
Whatever floats his boat, I guess
These ones, you mean? Because actual StGs are Prohibited.
>They'll probably just call it a G3 variant
I need to know either way. I'm gonna email him and tell him to try and get a classification ASAP. If it's available in 7.62x39 and Non-Restricted, us Syrups will eat that shit up like candy.
Ehh... No big deal actually, If they have feeding issues, and / or need to cuck the mag I'll switch to 5.56
>i'll get to use a real sturmgewehr in the coming race war
thank you god
It's not a goddamn fucking assault rifle jesus fucking christ it was the first intermediate rifle that was mass produce for the german army not a goddamn assault rifle that term was invented by the liberals to make guns sound scary and both sides the dems and reps both brought into that stupid name brand.
That's like saying magazine a clip and clip a magazine.
>implying that wouldn't fit in a STANAG AR lower
Sturm means storm, as in bad weather.
Gewehr means appliance, device or tool.
It's basically a sidearm for guards in case it starts raining. If you wanted a real gun for fighting you'd try to get your hands on an SVT-40
Gewehr has literally never meant anything in german except rifle or gun.
Sturm doesn't mean bad weather, if they meant bad weather they would say schlechtes wetter. It means fucking storm.
Assault weapon is a made up word, assault rifle is a real military word. You could argue that it isn't an assault rifle because it has no full auto, but you should chill the fuck out.
you literally missed the entire point of my post you acoustic nigger. I've said that in the past using x39 rounds in a Stanag style magazine, even one purpose built, has caused reliability issues.
> The authentic looking mag will be in whatever caliber you order
No shit, I think most people would be pretty pissed if they bought a 5.56 gun and got x39 mags
Lrn2 reading comprehension and maybe your jimmies wouldn't be so rustled all the time
Actual native german speaker here.
In the most literal way, Sturmgewehr translates into "storm rifle". But because we all know that's not how it works, let's have a look at the verb "stürmen", which means "to assault / to attack / to storm sth."
Considering how this rifle was applied, assault rifle IS the most fitting translation. At the same time, even in german that name has the same ring to it as "storm rifle" has in english, i.e. something devastating
Also Gewehr translates directly into rifle. A tool would be "Werkzeug", device would be "Gerät" or "Apparat".
7/10 bait, you actually made me reply to your bullshit, well done.
Me too kek.
>not doing the actual spray-painted camo on tan BDUs
I ordered mine in .300 BLK because of mag commonality. I didn't want it in 5.56 and 8mm Kurz and 7.62 would have required me to get a bunch of new magazines.
As far as I can tell the x39 ones are going to use those dopey looking AR mags which is why I didn't want that one. In addition to not owning any, the curvature ruins the aesthetics for me. Also because I have a decent pile of AR magazines anyway. I might buy a few more 40rd pmags though to keep the profile.
