Overpriced and underpowered like all the other 4.5 gen fighters.

Yes it is. If Rafale had a Down's syndrome, it would be a Typhoon. Now leave this board please.
>>
>>28606964

The Eurofighter is a maintenance whore.

>>28607265

>If Rafale had a Down's syndrome, it would be a Typhoon.

This is true.
>>
Because the people that can afford it have their own fighter programs and the people that want it can't afford it.

It's in service with eight air forces. That's no small number.

Funny, I think quite the same of the Rafale in comparison to the Eurofighter
>>

countries that wanted it already have it (UK, Germany, etc). Countries that don't have 4.5th gen fighters are buying the Rafale or the F-35.

It's kind of old news. It's not stealthy, so it's nothing special compared to the Rafale or Su-27 or any other 4.5th gen fighters.

>tfw even the most iconic users of the eurofighter, the UK, will end up using the F-35
>yuroshits haven't made good fighters since WWII other than the Tornado, Harrier, and Mirage 2000
>US aircraft have pretty much always been the primary fighter jets of yuropoor countries

but keep trying fellas!
>>
>>28607479
>It's not stealthy, so it's nothing special compared to the Rafale or Su-27 or any other 4.5th gen fighters.

Its better than both of those in terms of RCS by a large margin.

>tfw even the most iconic users of the eurofighter, the UK, will end up using the F-35

They're going to be using both, considering they just ordered another 2 Typhoon squadrons.
>>
>>28607259
If it was about 40 millions dollabs cheaper it would be a great buy, but it's not.
>>
No one wants to be EU's (read: Germany's) military ally.
>>
>>28607566
>They're going to be using both, considering they just ordered another 2 Typhoon squadrons.

We haven't ordered any more Typhoons than were already buying.
We're simply not retiring some of the older airframes that we originally planned to get rid of, which means the total number of planes in service will now be enough to have two additional operational squadrons.
>>
>>28607018
>Ugly
No. It's an OVERPRICED piece of shit, but you must have pretty terrible taste if you think it's ugly.
>>
>>28606964

It found a buyer literally just late last year and has two additional buyers (one of them brand new to the buying, Bahrain) already lined up to be probably announced this year.

It's the best selling European combat jet by a fucking mile.

It's certainly not having any issues.

>>28607479

> Countries that don't have 4.5th gen fighters are buying the Rafale

That'll explain why the Typhoon has fucking owned the Rafale in airframes ordered then? Or you could just be talking shit.

>tfw even the most iconic users of the eurofighter, the UK, will end up using the F-35

Yes, you tend to buy a jet you help build a notable portion of.
>>
>>28608211

>one of them brand new to the buying, Bahrain

I couldn't find a source for this anon. How many are they buying?

It's not confirmed yet, but Bahrain is VERY close to Saudis and to the UK, and BAE has been frontrunning a lot with them.

http://business-humanrights.org/en/britains-bae-systems-negotiating-to-sell-12-typhoon-fighter-jets-to-bahrain-despite-the-countrys-weak-human-rights-record

http://archive.defensenews.com/article/20141213/DEFREG04/312130021/UK-Bahrain-Base-Deal-Could-Lead-Typhoon-Sales

The Bahrain King himself has said many times he wants to pick Typhoons. It'll be for 12-14 jets. Not a massive sale, but they'd all be Tranche 3's, so hey, sales a sale.
>>
Main problem is that it's F-35 expensive without the F-35 capabilities.
>>
>>28608703

Too bad you can't sell to Taiwan the non-country. It would trigger China too much. They would gladly buy it if only it's actually offered to them.
>>
It has top of the line performance specs and very soon top of the line system specs too, once avionics and weapon integration is fully done. Only thing it really lacks is stealth but you need to buy 5th gen for that, and the only thing in the market right now is F35. But let's face it, nobody is going to have a fully function F35 force for at least another 5 years.

*2.5 years; Block 3F arrives in Q3 2017 and jets that have 3i software already just need a software update.

You have a poor understanding of delta-v and BVR combat if you think manouverability and speed are small factors.

Everything is a maintenance whore. Even Gripen when the Swedes upgraged them to NG variant.
>>
>>28608703

It's this expensive when it only has limited stealth, no AESA, and no DAS.

Continual lifetime improvements will only make it even more expensive.
>>
>>28607479
Countries buying Russian/French aircraft tend to not have access to others.

Cool strawman brah

Speed increases your weapons range, while effectively decreasing your opponents if you go defensive.

Manouvering also reduces enemy weapons range / NEZ due to delta-v limitations in BVR weapons.

Does that mean that kinematics is more important than information? No. But I never said that. Just that dismissing it as a large factor is moronic.

Just a reminder that the Eurofighter Tranche 3 w/ AESA and Meteor is the 2nd most capable air to air platform on the planet.

A shame to hear of the maintenance woes. With fantastic performance comes fantastic cost.
>>
>>28610113
The maintenance issues are mostly stemming from Germany

because they really seem to not be giving a fuck lately. Especially aircraft ready rates.
>>
>>28609852
The dude flew Hornets and Super Hornets, then was an exchange pilot with the USAF and flew F-22s for 4 years before going to F-35s.

>>28610113
>Still not VLO
>Still forward only, mechanically scanning IRST
>Not the only jet with an AESA and compatible with Meteor
>>
>>28609639
Source? I dont ask this as a detractor just I have heard conflicting information saying that the F-35 has to accelerate to over mach 1 then it can coast for 150mi super sonic.
>>
>>28609639

Neither of those things qualifies as supercruise. It's not even subjective. A "sprint" is not supercruise.
>>
>>28610194
Also an AESA with fewer T/R modules than the F-22 and F-35.
>>
>>28610208
Do you not understand what you just wrote is the same as what you responded to?
>>
>>28610208
There is conflicting information, but AFAIK it does need afterburner to get over Mach 1, before then using either no afterburner, or minimal afterburner (the AB on the F-35 has multiple stages; at the lower stages it can be sustained for quite a while).
>>
>>28610230
Did the anon claim it was supercruise?
