Sweden had armed up HARD from about 1945-1975, during that period they had some of the largest and best equipped armed forces in the world.
By the late 80s they had tons of gear, but a lot of it was old and obsolete.
They had massive bunkers full of gear that was just rotting away or getting lost in the logistical system.

When the Soviet Union fell the politicians naively thought they could reformat and scale down the armed forces.
All the old unnecessary shit was to go, the armed forces would be a smaller and more professional.
The army agreed it would work OK for about 10-15 years.
The army started a tear down project to cut off all the old fat and modernize.
Everything was cleared out, were talking hundreds of thousands of tons of infantry gear, dozens of ships, hundreds of planes.
But the politicians started cutting billions from the Army budgets so by the time the Army had torn itself apart there were no funds to build it up again and the Swedish armed forces were a shadow of their former self.

Closer cooperation with NATO forces also meant the whole army had to be restructured.
And with foreign powers demanding help from Sweden the little money that the Army had was spent on training and equipment suitable for foreign operations, not for national defense.
The only hope the Swedish armed forces have is if the people vote SD in with a majority and pour massive quantities of cash into the army for the next decade or so.

All the money the army gets is instantly spent on foreign operations, or on the navy.

No, they aren't. The nordic countries are partly sucking up to the US, partly they know that there is currently no military threat to them.

Basically politicians decided to switch from an armed force focused on defending from invasions to a professional army focused on doing missions abroad.

It's only now in the past year or so they've finally realized how stupid that was and now have to try to figure out how to get it back together after they sold or scrapped the whole invasion defense.

The current swedish defense isn't designed to withstand an invasion because politicians thought that since the cold war ended there would never be a threat to us ever again.

The Allied force you speak of was never intended to reach Finland or fight against the USSR. While /g/, which I occasionally visit because technology is the field I'm entering, seems to bitch about Indians and women more than anything.

The whole Sweden yes thing seems to get the whole world engaged in shitposting.
Beyond that, /k/ strikes me as a fairly american board, and generally more respected on /k/ then elsewhere considering U.S gun laws.

We couldn't risk political incidents so foreign volunteers during the wars were kept out of combat. Long story short, Sweden hasn't been much use to Finland after the reneissance..


Still, there have always been Swede-bros that have been on our side, and the rivalry between Sweden and Finland have been in the recent years more of a brotherly competition than anything else.

So now that Sweden is lost to shitskin invasion, I welcome our Swede-bros to Finland to enjoy the few years Finland has left before it too drowns in shit.
