The Assult Weapons Ban was a complete disaster. And not because it was passed. But because it created a situation similar to prohibition. The very second Bush let the AWB lapse, by not resigning it. Sales of Ar15s went on the market. And years later we have threats of another passing of the law. The effect? Obama has single handedly helped in selling more Ar15s then ever before. Just like prohibition. It doesnt work in a free society. The people themselves decide what they want. Nothing creates more demand for a product then to tell its citizens that they intend to ban this item. Obama and the Democrats would have been better off reforming the mental health in america. As well as cleaning up the illegal guns off the streets in urban areas like chicago.
