I'm about to buy a makarov, Is there anything essential I should know before I buy it?
cheeki my breeki
and 9x18 Ultra, that one's important.
pic related, get you one op
if it malfunctions (FTF, hammer doesn't reset) clean the bolt face, firing pin, firing pin channel, and safety. those are the most critical parts to the weapon functioning properly, in my experience. I was seeing the hammer fail to set after firing ever maybe 50 rounds. all I needed to do was clean the safety. if it's too dirty it tents to slip up and decock the gun.
it's the other name for the finish round 9x17mm
same shit as 9mm luger, don't let anybody tell you otherwise both of them are 9x19mm
russian answer to finish 9x17 rounds, made them into 9x18
No, 9x18 is low enough energy to be able to safely use a straight blowback, 9x19 on the other hand is just over that line where you need some type of lockup or some method of retarding the movement of the slide. 9x18 is similar in performance to .380 ACP or .38 Spl though, so while not ideal, it'll still do its job if you need it for self defense.
>tfw I own two Maks and never noticed this
>tfw after reading your post I can see it now
>tfw my Mak now feels like a big cock in my hand.
A heat gun or hot water works as well.
9x18 Makarov uses a 9.2mm (0.365") bullet. 9x18 Ultra and 9x18 Police use a 9.0mm (0.355") bullet, the same as 9mm Short (.380 ACP), 9mm Long and 9mm Parabellum..
The original 9x18mm Ultra was, but the one sold commercially in the 1970's in pistols such as the PP Super and HSc Super is a different cartridge.
Its a makarov fitted holster, I just stuffed too much to piss off a friend and posted the wrong pic of it
That you're going to absolutely love it and it is extremely fun at the range.
Carry rounds = Hornady custom XTP
Google Marschal grips if you like sexy wood
Falco makes holsters for it
you want more mags
It's fun as fuck.
I sprayed off my cosmo with gun cleaning spray can from the sporting goods store.
The mag release on the cz82 pissed me off. Also, they are not blued, they are painted, and that wears off fast. Makarov felt better in my hand than the cz82. Hence why I have a mak but not a cz.
I love my Makarov have it now for 10 Years. Great Shooter get youself some stronger Recoilsprings and keep the surface clean from Sweat. And no Keyholing is absoloutley no issue with a Mak. Post a Pic of the Barrel
>get youself some stronger Recoilsprings
I bought a Bulgarian made Makarov not too long ago, it had been in Slovenian service service, hardly shot and pretty much brand new. The spring on that thing mang... I strong as fuck.
