Is there somewhere you can actually get it cheap? From the ZQI site it's like 50% more than the American Eagle I can find all over the place online.
>>
>>28550722
Walmart, go outside some time
>>
>>28550652
Got some about a year ago, shot it and it was pretty accurate, clean burning too. Can't remember how accurate it was since it was so long since I've seen some on the shelf at my local Wally World.
Only complaint is the primers are crimped in (I reload).
>>
>>28550722
> this

>>28550748
The local Walmart had it, but it was priced higher than m855, until they clearanced it out.
>>
>>28550652
I just shoot Monarch as my shitter ammo.
>>
>>28550753
Don't be a bitch, knock out primer, swage primer pocket, done.
>>
for me, its a little bit more inconsistent accuracy wise than federal.
but good general plinking ammo, buy cheap and stack deep
>>
>>28550765
really? I find 30 round boxes of zqi for like 10 dollars all the time.
>>
The 7.62x51 is garbage, I bought some just to fuck around with in a bolt gun from prone with a bipod and it was about 7-8 MOA compared to better stuff that was getting 1-2. I'm not the best shot but it was absurd how much spread I was getting.
>>
>>28550796
For some reason when I do that the new primer doesn't seat right. I'm new at it so I guess I'll get better with time.
>>
>>28550851

I got 3 moa from a m1a squad. Same as any other cheap surplus. Stop sucking.

I get 2-3MOA from my PTR91 using just irons. You must be a worse shot than I am.
>>
>>28550851
I was getting <2MOA at ~600yds with it.
>>
>>28550861
Do you use the RCBS swage tool? I haven't had any problems with doing it on 5.56, I started with 7.62 and 50 BMG, it was a bitch with 7.62. 5.56 I just do by feel.
>>
>>28550851
Holy shit, what's wrong with your gun or your shooting during that group? Shoots fine from my 308 converted MAS.
>>
>>28551080
No, I'm using a flathead screwdriver, I guess I'm a little too aggressive while doing it, I have no problems with non crimped primers though. Right now I want to get the basics down pat then start cutting down the 5.56 brass to make 300 blk.
>>
>>28550851
Damn, you must have been doing something wrong.

>>28550652
I love this ammo for range time OP. I get groups as good, (aka tight), as ammo 3x the price; and I get it for $9.32 a box for 20 for 7.62x51 at walmart: can't say anything about the 5.56 though. Shooting from a SCAR 17. Never had any malfunctions with it, and it seems to burn clean when I clean my rifle after using it. Wish gunstores around here had it; I only ever see it at wally's world.
>>
Shoots fine out of my PTR. May or may not be very accurate, despite the NATO proofmarking.

Uses a funny powder charge too, a mix of ball and cut stick.
>>
>>28551206
What part of the country are you anon? All the Wally Worlds in my area sold out of the ZQI last year when the XM855/ss109 ban was proposed by the BATF, and none ever returned to the shelves.
>>
>>28550851
I get 1.5-2moa with ZQi from my 17s
>>
>>28551145
I've done that about 300 times too (556->300). You need the swaging tool. It'll last a lifetime.
>>
>>28551277
Gotcha.
I've been doing a lot of reading and watching video demos of brass cutting jigs but still end up confused on what is the best solution out there. What jig do you use for trimming the case as well as do you anneal your brass before forming the new neck?
>>
>>28550713

>>
>>28550765
Ss109 is m855
>>
>>28550851
I get ~2 MOA on my Savage 10 out to 500 yards. 7-8 MOA groupings is not the ammo's fault, anon.

Price/performance beast. Will give you the same result as fancy, expensive ammos at the price of cheap to avarage ammo price range. You pretty much get army standart NATO at price of range trash.
>>
>>28550817
>>28551530
I was doing the math. The Federal XM855 was around 42¢/rd and the ZQI came out to be 43¢/rd. The 30 pack was $12.97. For that price, I'd stick with the Federal because I know I can convert the cases to 300 BLK.

When they put it on clearance, it was $10.00, and was gone before I could get any.
>>
>>28551232
My local Walmart & Dick's got those 150ct xm855 green boxes back last summer. Dick's actually had a sale at one point so they were $60 instead of $75. They're not always available but they are more common than 22.

Anyone trythat Denel orange box ammo? They have 223 and 7.62x51. It's pricy but I'm tempted because seuth eefreeken zef shit.
>>
>>28550652
It's pretty good, I've used it before and had no issues
>>
I can believe someone else got 7-8 moa out of it. Shot ZQI through a DAMS recon, 24 MOA at 25 yards. Switched to FGMM, one hole. Some batches have been shit. This was 2 years ago. Before it got popular.
>>

My local Walmart has the XM855 green boxes as well, but paying .46 cents a round, naw man. Here's something I found out recently, sometimes Wally World will ship ammo to stores that usually don't stock that particular kind, for example I found two stores that had the 150 count XM193 for about $55, quick math and we get just under .37 cents a round, that I can live with.
>>
>>28550673
Yeah that always bothers me..
>>
>>28551215
That sounds pretty funky, I didn't think that was a very common practice to mix powders like that, especially if it's NATO spec and factory.
>>
Any of these places online ammo not shit?
Goodtogoammo.com
Freedommuntions.com
Xtremebullets.com
Also any good place too get ammo cheap online pls
>>
>>28554719
ammo? or bullets specifically?
because slapping a shipping label on a box of factory ammo isn't rocket science, any schmuck can do that
>>
>>28554719
> freedom munitions
Shittiest ammo I ever used. I feel like they should have paid me to run that ammo through my guns. I've got 200 rounds of their .223 sitting in my closet and I'm debating shooting it all to get it over with or just donating it to charity to save myself the grief. I would declare jihad if I were a savage muslim.
>>
>>28554751
You know anything about goodtogoammo, found out there in my town and you can pick up ammo you get online for free in shop and have ffl done there as well. There ammo worth a damn?
>>
>>28550652

It's fine for plinking, not match grade but no better or worse then many other SS109/M855 type round. My AR, and many other 1:7 twist barrel rifles like 62 grain bullets.

Heck even wolf .55 grain isn't all that terrible, if you're just practicing getting on paper / generic man size target at 100 yards.

AR's, and heck most other guns will eat just about anything as long as you keep them clean. If you're a fudd who only cleans his rifles once every.... once, you might run into issues.

Kinda like how skis/snowboards's that are waxed are faster, maintained gear tends to just work better in general.

>>28554691

That IS weird. Does the round actually meet SS109 spec? you'll get uneven powder burn, I would imagine.
>>
>>28554751
agreed.

never had any FTF/Es in any of my 9mms until i started shooting the new freedom garbage.
>>
The 7.62x51 stuff is bretty gud and cheap. The brass is nice for reloading since its just re boxed MKE surplus, which I think is turkish.
>>
>>28554719
I got a box of 250 rounds of SS109 5.56mm from Ventura Munitions for pretty cheap, $87 plus shipping.

They shipped it Monday, I got it yesterday all the way from Las Vegas, so pretty good shipping.

Looks like quality stuff, and they seem to have great prices on all their ammo. They factory reload stuff, have standard factory ammo, and their own brand (which is what I bought) has excellent reviews.

Soon as my foot's not broken and I can get time to go shooting, I can vouch for the ammo quality, but the fit and finish of the bulk ammo seems legit.

>>
>>28554784
>>28554691
Yeah that was my feeling. I think their brass and bullets are good, but I think if you reman it with a known good powder charge you could make some pretty handy ammo out of it.
>>
>>28550851
I used to think it was shit because I was getting 3-4 MOA with my scar17s, then i got a new mount for my optic and started getting about 1-1.5 MOA. Runs clean and accurate. Kind of sad my walmart is all out of it. I have about 700 rounds of it though.
>>
>>28550652
I haven't shot the 5.56, but the 9mm and 7.62 NATO are great. Considering it's literally just military stock ammo packaged for export, it should be good stuff. I mean that literally; MKE does not differentiate between military and civilian loads when manufacturing.

>>28550851
The fuck you doing nigger
>>
>>28554751
I shoot their 9mm, 223 and 308 and I've never had any issues. It jams as much as Federal or Remington brass.

>Comparing Federal to Remington
>>
>>28555100
I've never had a problem with any ammo brand to be honest. Except Tula, that shit fouled my suppressor bad.
>>
>>28555156
Because Tula is 50/50 dog poop and sawdust. Remington powder and brass are fine, but the seating dies in their factory are fucking rabid. Last box of ammo I ever bought from them was 9mm, and I measured a seating depth variance of almost an 1/8th of an inch.
>>
>>28555208
Ouch. I didn't know that about Remington. I like to shoot Federal more because it's cheaper, anyway.

I must also live in a dimension where 22 golden bullets are decent rounds.
>>
>>28555097
they produce reman and new ammo, not all of it is reloads.
>>
>>28550652
I use their 7.62x51 in a Ruger GSR a lot, seems like decent surplus ball to me.
>>
>>28550652
It works fine, its range ammo if anything. It used to be sorta priced alright, but ZQI decided they wanted double to triple the amount it used to cost and most stores that carried it stopped bothering and canceled their agreements with ZQI
>>
>>28550817
You aren't finding 5.56. You are finding 7.62.
>>
>>28550753
I've used a lot of the mke stamped stuff in 223. Treat it just like the lake city stuff and chuck the primer pocket reamer into a drill and buzz the crimp of pretty quick.

I can only speak to their .308 147gr, but its pretty damn good.

For whatever reason I've heard a few people say that their 9mm causes a lot of jams/wont cycle their pistols.
>>
>>28555944
Their temper tantrum cost them big and Walmart took them back at the original price. They also now sell online, although not as cheap as walmart.
>>
>>28556060
It must be only a small amount of Walmart stores then. None of it is being sold anymore in my state.
>>
>>28556075
I still see the 7.62 at my walmart, but I bought a 640 case in AIM for a good price, and have only one box of 9mm I'm holding onto right now. Though I haven't seen the 5.56 or anything past 55gr. in a little while.
