>aren't all assault rifles 5.56?
>Isn't reloading your own ammo dangerous?
>why do you need a gun?
>I don't see why you need a military grade marksman sniper rifle in 50 BMG
>I didn't know people hunt engine blocks now
I seriously hate people who think guns are here for hunting and sporting. Like, how effective do you think it would be if I held up a store with a 20 pound rifle?
And no, I'm not hunting engine blocks, I'm shooting fucking targets and having fun, that's a thing you can do with guns.
>doesn't nato countries all use the same caliber?
>you don't need a gun, they are for killing things, do you plan to kill someone?
thats right, why live in a house with many rooms when you can live in a 4m2 room without windows
>Israeli special forces carry the Desert Eagle in .50cal
>Desert Eagles shoot the same ammo asthe .50cal machine gun
>The IDF made the Desert Eagle because American guns arent reliable eniugh for their standards.
>If Israel was in a war I would go sign up
>The M-16 round will bounce off of bones
>Bullets tumble when they hit you.
>The M-16 was designed to wound.
>grain is how many grains of powder there are in the casing, the higher the grain the faster the bullet
grain is the weight of the projectile, and typically the higher the grain the slower the bullet
>no that can't be right
>mfw I actually have to google it to prove it to him
Grains is a weight unit.
Your friend could measure the weight of his fucking bolt action in grains it would still be correct.
You can measure the powder charge in grains, too, so technically he could have been correct (even though he wasn't)
>be hunting with dad
>out in Montana
>got the trusty old m107 Barret
>been following this oil trail for hours now
>suddenly hear a purring
>we stop and scan the area
>we see it
>a whole herd of engines
>v8's, v6's, hemmys, fucking everything
>suddenly spot this good one
>has to be a 12 cylinder
>take 10 minutes setting up the bipod
>lay down, take aim
>pull the trigger, bang
>must have hit carburetor
>oil and antifreeze goes everywhere
>only suffer minor shoulder displacement
>wounds, cuts and bruises all over body from dirt and rocks that rained down when I shot.
>dad was so proud
>pic kind of related, not the one I shot obviously
>what a majestic beast
The powder charge is also weighed in grains. Although he isn't correct that it's 1:1 number of grains of powder to weight in grains, saying the more the grains the faster the bullet is, all else remaining equal, correct
That really burns my fucking biscuits anon.
Especially since I have heard it before, at a fucking shooting range.
Personally I hate it when I have to explain to people that the second amendment was meant to stop and slow down a tyrannical government and they say
>good luck fighting the whole US military.
Like, shut the fuck up, the US military (probably) isn't going to kill it's own citizens because the POTUS said so.
I'm probably wro g about that though.
> bullets tumble when they hit you
don't they yaw a bit, though?
am i stupid for thinking this?
Nothing is wrong with it. It's just all the people who talk about Mosins being shit only own the R700. It's also the starter gun for any hick.
>I just got a R700
>yeah I'd say I'm pretty set for life
It would, eventually, come down to the US Military (read as; The Federal Government and States loyal to it) having to kills its own citizens in the event of a full scale civil war. The question is not if they will, it is; how many will actually follow that order?
I would love for someone to survey Infantrymen and High-level Officers about if they would order, or follow an order for killing (former) US Citizens in a hypothetical civil war. But I really doubt many of them would appreciate being asked this question.
Actually had a conversation like that.
>But your guns can't shoot down jets!
Neat, don't think they use jets to conduct illegal search and seizures.
>But they can shoot smart rockets and take out just your apartment
I just gave the hardest "wtf look" I could until they dropped it.
>sniper rifles have more stopping power the assault rifles
Dude it all depends on the bullet.
>Nah, if the gun has a scope it's obviously better and more powerful
Yaw and a bit of deviation are real....the bullet bouncing around your insides is not.
By tumble they mean spin end over end, like a keyhole round, except this magic process happens only once the bullet hits you
>north korea should be given a chance I mean it's been such a long time why are they hated?
Told the bitch to get out of my house and to never return.
Why so hostile, anon? Mad that I beat you to the punch? Oh, and BTW I did it with windows snipping tool and paint.
> bullet bouncing around your insides is not real
but anon, have you not heard of based .22lr and its ability to bounce off bones and basically shred your internal organs into confetti?
>My wife is anti-gun ish
>I can't find Fed T556TNB1 online in stock
>Google isn't helping
>Complain about having to use duck go and not finding what I'm looking for.
>"did they ban it? Is it illegal?"
She is sure they need to ban more stuff but always assumes anything I can't find for gun stuff is illegal. I don't understand her crazy logic around guns. She is perfictly fine change opinions and looking at logic about other shit.
We might have if congress had backed up our end of the Paris Peace Conference.
But still, we lost. Period. People who say that we "won" Vietnam are retards. "Almost" won is not the same as winning.
We could have turned Hanoi into a parking lot. I saw in a documentary that near the end of the war they had finally broken the Hanoi air defense network but command didn't want to hit any targets because of risk of civilian casualties. Same reason we won't hit Raqqua (or whatever that IS city is called).
>Why do you need that
>Every gun you buy needs a purpose
>You don't need anything more than 10 rounds per "clip"
>The 2nd Amendment is bullshit rednecks use to defend their guns with
this is the one I get the most. But I also live in Commiefornia and work in a liberal profession (science)
we didn't technically lose vietnam. we sure as hell didn't win, but a loss means conceding defeat, and signing a formal declaration of surrender. we just left. so definitely not winning, but also not losing
this really rustles my jimmies
> living in california
even I, living in relative bunghole Guatemala, wouldn't move to california if i got offered a house and a million dollars
> capital of hippies and degeneracy
> birthplace of misinformed liberal sjw bullshit
> californians, the way they act and talk
pretty gay, tbqh famalam
>mfw I own a motorcycle I bought for under $10k that can go faster then six figure sports cars
>why does the barrel on my glock tip up
Weren't the Supreme Court rulings in favor of the militia approach because a bunch of niggers used their guns to defend themselves?
If I recall correctly it was something like, "Oh god this creatures used firearms to defend they selves, better regulate!"
>Why do you need more than 10 rounds in a clip?
>Nobody besides police should own assault rifles
>ars can easily be converted to full auto
>Why dont they just put fingerprint scanners on guns?
Yeah, the Black Panthers open carried/brandished rifles on the steps of government buildings or something like that.
People were like "how is this not illegal" so they made it illegal.
THANKS AGAIN BLACK PANTHERS
>the M16 round will bounce off bones
It will...sometimes. So will just about all other bullets regardless of load or caliber. Sometimes.
>bullets tumble when they hit you
Some do, some don't. Some tumble before they hit you.
>the M16 was designed to wound
It was. Fatal wounds are still wounds.
>is that an M16?
when i showed my friend my hipoint carbine
>is that an SBR?
when i showed my friend my AR pistol (understandable because i had a sig arm brace on it)
i always thought it was delay the blowback
>barrel and slide are locked together
>slide and barrel move back together
>slide unlocks when the barrel tilts down
>slide goes to the rear, resets the sear/hammer/striker
>slide goes forward, pushing a round up the feed ramp into the chamber
>barrel tilts forward
>slide locks with barrel
No I mean way back. Waaay waay back. We're talking post civil war. I think the supreme court foundation argument against personal ownership in favor of militia was because some darkies shot back at white folk.
>you need a scope to hit anything beyond 50 yards
>Is that an automatic?
(in reference to a wood-stocked Rem 1100 shotgun)
>hollowpoints are illegal! They go through body armor!
Upon seeing what my CCW was loaded with.
>How does that not break your shoulder?
Dude it's a fucking .243. It doesn't even SOUND powerful.
Well shit, most are these days if your a slave it's 5.45x39 which is similar concept.
except for a Africa and maybe a few European countries, everyone is using fast and flat small caliber rifle rounds for the basic infantry.
I'm an electrician and basically all electronics have lead or other shit that causes cancer.
combined with the fact that I reload ammo as well, I always have this paranoia that I'm getting lead poisoning and must wash my hands constantly before eating.
If a country has a McDonalds in it, we won.
>It's illegal, but it's pretty easy.
>drill a hole in the right place
>have the correct hammer, disconnector, carrier, and selector
>have the correct pin and sear
>have a lower to the correct specs to accommodate parts.
It's not that simple, tbqh senpai.
I know people who have been bullet casting for years and have average/sub average lead levels.
If you are really concerned, ask your doctor to do a lead check.
But realistically, just don't eat while you are reloading or give the bore of your rifle a rimjob and you will be fine.
I love that every cast bullet forum, meetup, or conference I have ever been too has had an FAQ about this because so many dumbasses see lead acid and think they are going to get decent lead.
about that image with "murder weapons and their other uses"
>it has a fudd gun that says "hunting" next to it on the left
>black AR that says "nothing" on the right
>why can't you use the AR for hunting?
>not going to be enough meat left. it obliterates it
>are you saying the black one on the right makes the same bullet more dangerous than if fired from the one on the left?
AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE
I got a response to that once.
>Clearly the black paint and design makes it more dangerous. Regardless of it shooting the same bullets and using the same powder.
This was said seriously and without sarcasm to me. My eye was twitching like a crack head.
>is that fully automatic? (not dumb the first time, but dumb the second, third, and twelfth)
>I think it's stupid that you don't have to register your guns
>why should I have to register my kayak/drone but you don't have to register your gun?
Every single one of my friends fully believe that all guns are registered, until I tell them otherwise. Then they all go on rants about how stupid that is, and how they should be registered.
I blame mainstream crime shows.
I've seen that picture before. Any coincidence that we know of a certain SJW named Jessica, also with a last name that starts with a V? That Gamergate girl?
Or is that literally just Jessica Valente's account?
>We gotta ban assault rifles!
Yeah, but what do you consider an assault rifle?
>You know, the ones that go "pbbbbbbbt!"
Not knowing the actual name of the gun they own. They address it with the caliber and company of manufacture/general design. Things ive heard lately are:
>12 gauge Beretta
>8mm mauser (referring an M48)
Not just some friends, lots of people not too knowledgeable do this. It really annoys me for some reason
>On my next AR I want a looong barrel like 15 inches
You'd have to get a tax stamp for that, plus the AR you have now has a 16 inch barrel.
>tax stamp? And I think it would be longer if it were 16 inches.
BONUS FROM SAME GUY
>Whats a trust? NFA?? Suppressor, why? You don't need that
>Why do you need more than 10 rounds?
Why do you need a car that can go faster than the speed limit?
>That's different, cars don't kill people!
>Science and politics mix
now we got shit like same Ancestor homosextants who ain't got no choice Calvinist lookin' ass.
for future reference pick up a book about Nazis and Finding Atlantis. Politics and scientist are like guns and alcohol
Can we please start a petiton to fund her the ticket
Nigga, I live in California, and you only ever see that shit in very, very specific locations which are increasingly few in number. I live in the IE, surrounded by desert, plains, and farmland, all twenty minutes away from the cities. SB county in particular is about as pro-gun as it gets around here, with a CCW-friendly shall issue sheriff's office.
California politicians are anti-gun liberal morons. Californians aren't. We've got more guns than Texas here.
>By tumble they mean spin end over end, like a keyhole round, except this magic process happens only once the bullet hits you
That is actually real.
5.45 is really good at it, but because it's designed to yaw like a motherfucker it needs good rifling or will keyhole in the air.
>you shouldn't hunt with a rifle, if you miss the bullet will go a mile down the road and kill someone
I won't miss. Something would probably stop the bullet if I did miss. If both g stopped the bullet it probably wouldn't hit someone. If it did hit someone it probably wouldn't be fatal hit. There would probably be someone near them to call an ambulance.
I hate that people don't understand that scopes are like turbos. They increase caliber and speed of bullets by a factor of the X rating. Higher the X the more the boost. I know, I'm a professional sniper.
>If I recall, tests on 5.56 and 7.62x39 showed keyholing happens, but doesn't happen often enough to rely on.
Of course, because they weren't designed to yaw on impact.
5.56 fragments on impact at high velocity and 7.62x39 relies on sheer energy to kill, later revisions of the cartridge did cause some yaw.
5.45 was purpose designed to yaw on impact.
>inb4 "but we killed more people than they did!"
I still have a friend that believes shit like that. He thinks its true for any caliber gun. He recently bought a glock in .357 Sig. Got home and called me and said his bullets from his .357 magnum wouldn't fit. I wanted to kill and die at the same time.
Lead isn't a worry for cancer its that your body can't filter it out and it accumulates and makes your brain stupid. So keep reloading until you don't know what reloading is... Then you will stop... Problem solved... Kinda
Guns, kayaks and drones should not be registered. Just because 2 are registered doesn't mean the 3rd or any of them need registering. Registering is basically a tax, that is all.... A revenue stream for the gov.
John Browning tilting barrel design.
>what is a DIAS
>what is a lightning link
I could cut out a lightning link with a Dremel tool and $3 of barstock available at any hardware store in about 10 minutes and have a full-time full-auto AR.
Now, converting one to a SELECT FIRE is a bit more difficult and time consuming.
Where the fuck makes you register a kayak or canoe or anything else that doesn't have a gas-powered engine?
Also drones only have to be registered if you fly them in specific places like around airports or over a certain altitude, which 99.9% of commercially available drones aren't capable of.
I hate people that do this on the phone.
>hey I need a scope mount
Cool. What make and model?
That's a caliber. Who made the gun?
yeah sorry can't help you
Well that sucks.
Point still stands. CURRENTLY they do not have to be.
Also kayaks and other paddle-powered small watercraft do not have to be registered, and any boats operated solely on private waters regardless of size or power plant do not have to be registered.
>It was the Marines that landed on D-Day
>Europe would have been lost without the Marines
>Video games enthusiast friend doesn't know shit about guns
>Asks basic and/or stupid questions like
>Why does a bolt action does more damage than a semi automatic sniper rifle ?
>What's the difference between a clip and a mag
>Do they really use the desert eagle in the army if it's such a hard to use weapon ?
>Why would anyone use a shotgun if their range is only a few meters ?
>Simply answer his questions and explain to him why he may be wrong.
>He listens, knows he may be wrong, takes the answer and likes being answered and keeps on gaming
Why do people on /k/ have such shit friends ?
It's funny when 3rd world country inhabitants hold opinions like this about places they will never in their wildest dreams go to. Aren't Guatemalans like the universal niggers of central and southern america? Except you're all squat and fat?
My buddy who has been shooting his entire life asked me that worried my shield was broken.
Motherfuck has only shot revolvers, a century p38, and .22 handguns. I have to explain to him EVERY Time that he shouldn't waste his money on a gun because it looks cool and it's cheap. Been trying to get him to pick up something modern but he just wants to fudd around and not clean his guns (ever)after using exclusively TULA ammo. His sks is so fucking caked with shit and the stock gave him a splinter.
Dammit sorry I hate ranting but for a guy who loves guns he has no clue what they do other than go bang.
it's also easy to make a pair of nunchucks or a flail in Canada, but you can literally go to the hardware store, buy a wrench and a length of chain, and there you go. Easy to make, libtards still think "oooohhh scary weapons, MUST BE ILLEGAL"
I was lucky enough that my fiancee grew up around guns. Family had farm, so guns. Lived in US for a time so dad had guns. She always was hesitant about having guns in the house with future kids (muh chilluns), but then after those recent jihadist attacks in Canada, she decided she would get her PAL with me one day and would want to own and use guns.
beautiful. The guy second from the right, first row, in green. Look at that glare he's giving Obama. And the guy on the far left in green. He looks like he's about to laugh.
>the way they talk
I can't help it, 'like' is essentially just my cali accent.
>the way they act
Cali is full of faggots.
>birthplace of misinformed liberal sjw bullshit
That would actually be a tie between marx and FDR.
>capital of hippies and degeneracy
happened last weekend
>friend in town visiting
>friend owns a few shotguns, revolver and a couple 22's of his own
>decide to go shooting and take out like 8 guns
>aw ya, dont gotta clean all these my self
>come home, tell friend to grab a gun and start cleaning
>says 'im excited, ive never cleaned a gun before'
>be video game enthusiast
>also know many shit about guns
>everyone assumes that no gamer can possibly know shit about guns and starts condescendingly lecturing me about them
science isn't a liberal profession anywhere else in the world, m8.
I live in New York and am an Engineering major. Science, technology, and engineers are the easiest to convert because they value data and function over emotion
fuck off schwarzie,he's right
not really a friend but i was talking to the guy at a new years party
>i support the second amendment completely but i have the right to feel safe and seeing someone walking around with an assault rifle is scary
>My yugo sks shoots better when it's dirty
>uses corrosive milsurp x39
Profile: Yugo barrels aren't chrome
Bore light showed more pits than Edward James Olmos' face.
Maybe with magnums it matters. For anything smaller than a .308/.30-06, what are you looking at? 300fps for an additional 6-8" of barrel? Don't really think that's going to grant you hydro-static shock....
(Should such a thing even exist.)
I hate how people are afraid to have guns because kids are in your house.
I read about a faggot that had his gun in one safe and ammo in another safe in a different part of the house because he didn't want his kids getting into his gun and ammo. Thus, making it impossible to use a gun in his home when he would absolutely need it because he's a faggot.
the American Modelling Association is fighting that shit
they've requested their members to not do so, at least until the actual deadline.
not the guy you're talking to, but it's likely his friend's entire knowledge of the concept comes from Apocalypse Now and the Ride of the Valkyries scene
so no, just retarded
