As much as its impractical to break up a chest plate it indicates your such an operator you don't stand around waiting to be shot like a grunt on patrol and you know how to use cover. Maneuverability into cover is always the best armor. Yes? IMHO good urban armor doesn't have to be fully rifle resistant, (mostly stunt grade motocross level). The ability to fall down stairs, take a two story fall on your back, get hit by a truck or dive into a pile of broken glass without worry makes for a highly effective soldier who can operate harder than before.
Ballistic rifle grade over vitals, small arms in helmet, arm/leg plates, shrapnel/fire protection from under suit. Soft air ducts incorporated into suit with vent fans in backpack and belt (suck the heat out like a pc case).

Dunno but it seems sound. All personal theory I like to share with my boys now and then. I think we can diy better than buy. As a species our ability exceeds our imagination.

Building a lab myself. Since all it takes is 1.5 volts and a fish tank with Epsom salts and climbing powder (magnesium, sodium and calcium). A plate grown from steel wool sandwiched between two thin plates will be my first cheap test. Or an old steel pot helmet rusted up already.

It takes a 3/1 part ration of water and acetone spun at high rpm to dissolve graphite powder into a graphine solution. You got to hook up a whisk to a router and burn out the motor for like 17 hours but its cheaper than a lab mixer or a nutribullet.

The conductive cloth is a brain fart I had earlier im now running with that whole kevlar is stronger than steel thing. The graphine makes the cloth able to be electroplated. The layers make it so the ceramic cant shatter far, once done its solid stone woven with ballistic cloth.

The current recipes for shear thickened material "melts" but the magic is in the suspended powder not the glue. Figure if you can thin out silicone into a flowable solution it can hold a bunch of powder between cloth fibers the trick is to keep it from sinking in your bucket. Ply wood with an orbital sander strapped to the bottom set on a tire will shake it up enough to soak through if you drag strips through a trough on top. Thinking about rolling up treated cloth strips into tubes to be woven into thicker patches.

Biorock will preserve any conductive metal encased in it too. I started thinking a layer of it on the front of an ar500 plate would go far, you can paint the back and only grow ceramic on one side if you like. I like the idea of growing armor, it just seams natural.
