News is slowly coming out of Syria that Russian robots have been sent into combat over the past few days during the Salma offensive and they're saying that robots scored >10 kills. They're also using other kinds of robots (PackBot equivalents) to hunt for IEDs since AlQaeda left several dozen boobytraps but those are different from combat robots.
Have they gone too far? Using robots to kill people is one step too far.
>Russia desperately trying to impress world militaries
Did they give any criteria for what these "robots" were?
If they weren't fully autonomous, who cares? May as well call Smart Bombs robots and they have thousands of kills.
Reports are from SAA fighters on twitter. Russian MoD has been mum on the issue. I'm guessing they don't want attention (it's bad PR).
Diff is that these bots have a "auto-aim & fire" options. They basically detect positions of incoming fire and they auto-aim & shoot.
Human is not the one pulling the trigger in this kind of setup.
>PLEASE PUT DOWN YOUR WEAPON. YOU HAVE TWENTY SECONDS TO COMPLY.
my favs are from Elysium...
I seriously think there should be some ethical guidelines on using those things in warzones. Like who would be responsible for war crimes commited by UCGV?
But what if there is no person in the loop? These things have arrays of sensors and you can send them in and let them shoot at the fist thing that moves or the first thing that fires upon it. Who's responsible then?
>The thing is they don't.
But they do.
Is that what your mother calls you? Figures.
I see you've backed up your posts with sources... and ad hominems of course.
Do some fucking googling on Platform M.
Ah, the response to being asked for a source is to ask for an opposing source.
The hallmark of the bullshitter who gets called out and resorts to the fallacy of demanding proof of a negative.
Are you really so fucking retarded that you can't even use a search engine?
The drones were so fucking shitty in this movie and any rich faggot would just hire a former operator for protection instead.
>You always have a person in the loop, otherwise you've seriously fucked up
humans are weak, stupid, get tired easily, get distracted easily and they make stupid mistakes.
machines have none of those faults.
bow down you filthy fleshwad.
War crimes are a silly social construct.
War is a crime. If you as a national leader have decided to say "Fuck peace, let's kill some motherfuckers" you're already okay with being a bad guy. Why not go all the way?
In fact, it could be argued that intentionally neglecting means of winning a war with fewer casualties on your side is basically treason.
If you're curious, this video was posted on /pol/ earlier today. The only footage of these fearsome little guys that I could find.
It isn't actually gone(just archived).
I just don't think you can link to /pol/ from /k/
Links to the archived thread work just fine on /pol/
Here's a repost
>Killing by proxy is immoral.
>Thus differentiates America from shit like Russia, a miral high ground.
Hahaha are you a troll? Or just retarded?
Autosnipe anything that fucking moves!
I wish these fuckers were real (and I bet they're already real somewhere).
Personally, I don't think Al Qaeda or ISIS deserve to be killed by a human.
The whole "human in the loop" is a bunch of bullshit told to reporters and liberal pussies. If you think warbots aren't going to wind up as autonomous death dealing machines of high speed multi-directional utter mayhem, you're living in Never Never Land.
