Hey /k/, My son has been shooting the .22 LR for a while, but he wants something "Bigger" He's just turned 14, and is quite short, only 4'7. I have an SKS, Mosin Nagant, and 30 ought 6. I dont thing the 30O6 would be good, nor the Nagant, but the SKS seems ok, what do you all think.
Pic related, is exactly what my SKS looks like.
>pic related is exactly what my SKS looks like
>as if /k/ users wont know what youre talking about
I was shooting .303 and .308 at his age with my pappy and uncle, you can start him on the SKS but he should be able to handle proper 30 cal at his age
you're a faggot
>implying your midget child that can't handle full size cartridges by puberty is some kind of contribution
The SKS would probably fine for him, if you feel like splurging, you could get him an AK eventually. Most eastern Europeans are shorter compared to Americans, so their stocks are shorter to accommodate someone who is 5'3" to 5'9" in height.
Maybe he wants a bigger rifle to compensate for something??
sorry op I'm manlet myself but this is the internet and i have to
> doesn't want to commit suicide with a .22
> dad, I need a bigger gun
now that thats out of the way - Why not just let him try to shoot the damn thing instead of making a thread about it on autistic asian cave painting board?
>doesnt know their/there/they're
>assblasted about people on the internet
holy shit OP
Good plan, Just look for the difference in stock lengths, the American built ones will have a longer length of pull to accommodate the average height. The ones made with import parts on an american receiver will have the shorter 12 and 1/4 " length of pull.
I'm not this faggot
Your SKS is more than sufficient for your needs. Recoils like a 30-30, which is what my dad moved me to when I was a kid.
Given his stature he might have trouble keeping the muzzle totally still if he's standing though. The SKS is heavy for what it is.
>lol im just trolling you, you guys are the real retards
I just hope that my potential offspring isn't a son like OP's.
I'm 5'6", so I'll need to find a really tall woman or hope that I have a daughter. Why must God forsaken me!?
Holy fuck its your son why are you namefagging and asking /k/ what to do?
OK heres what you do, give him an obrez and tell him to fire 500 rounds then make him go innawoods with sks for a month, then hell be ready to be your woods fuck thing.
Even if you have a daughter, her kids have a chance of your genes.
Also it's not like a really tall wife will make your kids meet in the middle.
Their height will either take after her side of the family or yours.
Well it's slav, so just teach him to dance while he kickd and squats to Tetris music and enroll him in tank school as a 19kilo when he turns 17.
Bonus points of you teach him to make pruno out of brake fluid.
An SKS would be just fine. If you didn't mind, and he was mature enough to handle it, a cheap beater AR wouldn't be bad either, it may actually fit him a bit better.
Also, don't feed the trolls.
ITT: OP has a manlet kid, anon is a cuck and brags about his wife's sone, and lots of "I was only pretending to be retarded"
OP your midget is going to shoot up his school
Cuckanon your wife still fucks the dude that got her pregnant
>Kid is 14
Is this your kid by any chance?
Also your kid should be fine with a SKS my dad's was the first gun I ever shot and I did alright and if he has been shooting for awhile then it shouldn't be too difficult of a switch.
Well this was a mistake, i wanted advice, but all I've gotten is hate on my sons height (with a few exceptions), as if he hasn't heard it before. IS this how you all get off? Insulting others?
Nigga what're you doing outside of our containment thread?
Thanks for telling off that guy!!
Why would anyone not want to be a member of the Anonymous hacking super group???
WE ARE LEGION.
WE DO NOT FORGIVE
WE DO NOT FORGET!!!!
expect us XDDD
yeah the sks is an excellent choice. 7.62x39 doesn't recoil much and is an easy step between .22lr and the longer 30 cal cartridges. as mentioned, you could also look at getting an ak platform since it fires the same round
Don't worry about his height, he will probably grow like a freakin' weed soon. And ignore the faggots on here that talk shit.
SKS should be fine, I have been shooting one since I was 14 or 15.
OP in no way am I trying to insult your way of parenting, you know your child the best, but I have a very similar story. When I was around 15 years of age I was 5'2", and was medium build. I just got into guns in seventh grade, and was trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. All I ever shot was .22 and 20 gauge. I have only shot a mosin once at a range from some kind old man and It had a lot of felt recoil at the time, but that didn't make any less fun. My dad didn't want me getting an ak, sks, or even a mosin. He thought that it was too much for me even with proper stance and everything. I longed to get an ak so bad, one christmas my dad got a Hungarian fixed stock parts kit and told me if I can build it I can shoot. Never the less I was the happiest person alive, but I had a mission, I was gonna build the shit out of that ak. I did all the research day and night, and read many books and went to local gunsmiths for any questions, and ordered all of the tools to build it. By the first day I had built the sexiest ak I have ever seen even to this day. Building this was hard work for 15 year old because of the mass amount of knowledge I had to quickly obtain to build it. Not only did I want to build it I wanted to understand it, know the basic functions of any gun and how they operate. Within that timeframe I gained a lot of knowledge that I still use today. When my dad let me shoot it for the first time, it was the second most glorious day of my life, right behind loosing my virginity to an easy 10/10 german exchange student (damn was she tight). But I am thankful for building it because of the knowledge I obtained from it, also it got me use to the ak platform and helped me control recoil a lot better once I just shot it some more. Besides OP, your son is going to hit puberty and skyrocket in height and build. So the way I see it the faster you get him use to a normal fighting weapon, the faster he could use it safe and effectively.
Sorry 90% of your thread is shitposts from assbags.
Anyways, best thing to do is just let him try them all. With supervision of course.
Maybe look into pistol caliber lever actions? the 45 LC Henry Steel Boys are a lot of fun, and a great entry level reloading cartridge.
Find one on sale and you'll love it. I'm so glad I waited for mine to go down to $550. Length of pull, weight and overall length are perfect for a manlet.
If you're 6'2 like me you'll probably find the length of pull is just a hair too short - like a AR with a collapsed stock.
Take a look at 'Limb Savors' they slip right on to the stock and they offer pretty good cushion. Got one for my K31 because I always shoot it after practicing trap and skeet for a few hours. It helps out a lot.
I don't see a problem with a SKS. The weight "feels" more distributed than a mosin to me. Might be easier for him to hold it, and the stock length of pull seems like it would fit his size better than a 30.06.
You seem like a cool dad, perhaps you two could assemble an AR15 from scratch together. I wish my dad would have done that with me. Kudos for getting your kid into shooting.
The SKS is practically built for 14 year old conscripts suffering from malnutrition. It'll be perfect.
He should shoot the Mosin-Nagant as well. He's 14, ready to become a man any day. It might bruise his shoulder a little bit but it's partly your job to make sure he doesn't grow up a pussy. When I was 14 and only 130 pounds I fired 3.5" magnum 12 gauge slugs, got knocked on my ass and laughed like a downie for about 5 minutes. Big bruise on my shoulder but me and the old man kept shooting. That was the day I really learned how to control a gun.
