While that's clever as shit, can't a strong wind basically set off a minefield?

And wouldn't people on the ground see a big ass metal stick coming out of an otherwise very flat and clear LZ?
>>

Why not rig the thing so that there are RPGs and guns, and when the helicopter rotors turn the little fan it pulls the trigger?

The 1980 convention doesn't matter in the slightest because no potential belligerents ever signed it. Also, there's pretty much zero chance of getting nicked for setting traps in an actual warzone, and if you do, blame the other guy.
>>
>>28489025
>>28489070
It was actually Ukrainian NG types who put this device together.

Basically it was a computer fan with a piece of aluminum foil on one of the blades, and another on the debris shield of the fan. Running a current through the foil on the blade and attaching a dead wire leading to the charge itself, when the downwash from Spetsnaz helos happens, the fan rotates, completes the circut, and detonates a daisy chain of EFPs, flechettes, grapeshot charges, and bounders.

Ukies are some crazy fuckers.

Basic stuff, evaporation triggers, double-tap pressure plates, and the ballistic triggers.
>>
>>28489458
>ballistic triggers.
Explain? This one is new to me.

Any favorites?
>>
>>28489458
Can you tell me how well >>28489270 would work?
>>
>>28489458
>Evaporation trigger
2 pie tins with wires attached, the top tin with a battery attached, the other wired to the charge.
The bottom tin is filled with water, keeping the 2 tins from completing the circuit. The water evaporates over time as the sunlight heats the tins, eventually causing them to make contact and complete the circuit, triggering the device, usually a rocket pointed toward a static position.

>Double tap pressure plate
Basic ass shit, sometimes it's just the trigger device from an old AT mine attached to an IED.

>Ballistic trigger
crimp some wire to the back of a road sign (must be metal), crimp on some foil, and attach this to your charge. Attach some wire to the sign hooked up to a power source. Have some kind of target reference on the front of the sign to assist with this.

Now here's the part with balls.

You shoot through the sign, into the foil, completing the circuit and detonating the charge. You've just initiated an ambush with a gunshot, and concealed where the shot came from by masking the sound with the detonation.

Assuming you can hit it of course.
>>
>>28489632
>Ballistic trigger
Clarifying one point, this shit's unreliable because your sign and foil need to be spaced in such a way that your bullet completes the circuit by being in contact with both the sign and the foil at the same time.

This is just as tricky as it sounds.

>>
>>28489270
Depends on the thickness of the wires, it would be a better idea to just use grapeshot canisters or bounding mines.

Rotor blades generally move too fast to really get tangled by wires.
>>
>>28489890
Bounding mines seems best.

But damn wouldn't it be cool to see rockets throw a net of det cord around a chopper
>>
>>28490249
Det cord is pretty heavy, it would be better to just launch that shit by a remote mortar than a rocket engine.
>>
>>28490369
Point, as long as an exploding net goes off on/under/around the chopper I'm happy.

I wonder how well the Ukrainian helicopter initiated IED actually works. Anyone have links to stories?
>>
I remember when I first watched FMJ, and that guy moves that teddy bear and gets blown all to shit.
All I could think was "if I was in Vietnam, I'd die in a bullshit way like that"
>>
>>28490422
No links or stories, the thing is that the Seps are only really sticking to their ground game because Rus SOF can get around easily enough by civilian vehicles and on foot.

Bear in mind that some of the dudes on the Loyalist side are Chechen volunteers, the Russians know this so they don't want to risk air assets fighting these crafty fucks.
>>
>>28489692
I want to hear more from you, got any other cool/creative detonation methods? Got any anecdotes of that cool ass ballistic trigger mechanism being used, or anything similar? I could see that being extremely popular with SOF guys and .338 or 50 cal rounds. That's the coolest fucking trigger I've ever seen

>some of the dudes on the Loyalist side are Chechen volunteers
Anything to stick one to Russia huh?

I actually just got done talking to a Ukrainian coworker a minute ago that said the president of Ukraine saw this shit coming and intentionally delayed an effective response in an attempt to stay friends with Russia. He said to expect more professional IEDs as the war affects people in the cities with technical skills and educations.

How would this even work though?

1. Both handles turn when a person opens the door on the other side, problem is, the handle would have to turn extremely far to pull the pin.

2. The handles of these doors don't move on the other side.
>>
>>28486522
Literally no way that handle can turn would pull that pin.
>>
>>28491848
>>28491864

The pin gets pulled out when the door opens. Soldiers storm in and a few get taken out, if the tape holds. If it doesn't hold, the grenade gets ripped from the door and nothing happens.

Don't be fucking stupid, you guys. It doesn't pull the pin when the handle turns, it pulls the pin when the door is opened inward. Someone expecting a trap might see the tripwire in time, but this is better than putting the grenade at the top of the door, because with that technique, the frag hits the ground right in front of them, and they have 5 long seconds to run away.

In this case, if they open the door quickly and move in like a breach, they could very well fail to notice the resistance from the pin being pulled and the grenade on the wall next to them.
>>
>>28506174
I don't think it's the tape either; probably more that if the door is opened quickly, the grnade will be pulled away and then both gravity and centripetal force will pull the grenade away from the pin.

Would also recommend stevespages.com for a free collection of pretty much every US military manual, including the real fun ones. Your browser might list it as unsafe, but I've never had any problems with it. Antivirus screening is probably a good idea for anything you download though

how about feeding your own cattle other ground up cattle mixed into its feed, specifically for the purpose of creating mad caw disease.

this 'disease' is caused by something called a prion, which is an infectious strand of protein.
they are unique in the sense that they can infect pretty much any living creature and there is no possible way to cure them

how about taking these prions and dumping them into the ocean to really fuck up the food chain.
prions are gods answer to carnivorous life, its wrong to commit murder no matter what the purpose, especially for your own selfish need to eat

prions are also a good way of pretty much eliminating all of the asian countries on earth, but especially for japan since their diet consists mostly of seafod

literally just trying to shill up any excuse you can to justify your own stupidity

tell me, what diseases affect so many other species as prions do? none, because prions are not viruses in the sense you understand them to be.

all it takes is one little slip into the ocean
starting at the bottom of the food chain,
and bam, virtually all carnivorous life is wiped out, like fire. really wish humans would learn a lesson from this. how it actually is wrong to commit murder no matter what the excuse.
and unlike cows, we dont have any control over the ocean, we can just kill off all the infected animals under the sea.

Alright cant draw right now but the idea is pretty simple, You take a stop sign and widen the bolt holes so you can stick a rubber grommet in them and then put teflon washers on both sides of the wholes to ensure that no contact happens. once this is done you slide springs over the bolts. take a strip of copper and glue to the post it self and the back of the sign in line with the post so it does not stick out. once all of this is done reassemble and tighten bolts till there is about 1/4 of an inch between sign and post, the springs should be firm enough to ignore wind. once all of this is done take alligator clips and connect to contact points then route wires through post and to your device. You are done. If you want a more durable connection rough up the surfaces and actually solder wires to it.
