Smith & Wesson model 10. Now that particular pistol is long gone but my current one is pure sex. Accurate as hell, very easy to shoot and I love the .38 Special. Is a great cartridge for close range. You'll love your dads snubby as long as its not a charter arms, Rossi or Taurus. Ruger, colt, S&W are the big names.

S&W Model 41 when I was 16. I paid for it and my Dad got it for me. Shot smallbore pistol matches with it (and plinked).

S&W Model 10. My brother-in-law was Boston PD in the 80's and he gave it to me. he bought it from the department when they moved away from revolvers. It's got "property of Boston Police Department" stamped on the tang.

Good pistol to learn on.

Everyone's first handgun should be a revolver and it looks like that's the case for most people.

OP here. My Dad says that it's a "BSA .38 police special" (those were his exact words, hence the quotes). What level of quality should I expect? We're out of town, and I haven't got any pictures of it. I also can't seem to find any pictures of it online.

A ancient Ruby that belonged to my grandfather, given to me by my dad.
It was in rough shape, but after replacing pins, cleaning the rust out, and getting it duracoated it works fine.

Makes a good carry when hunting due to how tiny it is and how durable the duracoat is

Revolvers are outdated 19 century crap with no place in the 21 century except for range toys and museum pieces. I recommend you to update to a glock ASAP.
