Got my failzero/nickel boron coated BCGs in today, a day early, and went out to test fire before and after work. Both worked. And they are a $60 more expensive per BCG than the nitrided BCGs I originally ordered. Free. Simply because Alpha Shooting Sports didnt have replacements in stock and offered me an upgrade.

Very happy now, although time will tell if they are quality and hold up to actual use.

Took two videos, both are shit but one isnt even usable. Might attempt to make webM of them later if I feel up for figuring that out.

You would save money by buying say blem bcm upper for $80 or $50buck Anderson upper then buy pinned 14.5->16" barrel with fsb then say free float quad rail from Midwest or DD. That should cost around $500 to $600. Bretty sure whats out there would be around $700.

>Tap the gas tube hole in the back of the gas block FST and thread a low profile screw into it to check fit
>Use the screw to hold the hand guard retainer to the FST like the gas tube normally would.

Now I'm not a gun gamer, but I have harvested a few deer in my time. Every 1-4 and 1-6 I've been behind has been lacking at 1x and sacrificed light transmission, reticle usability, or both high magnification.

If you are hunting dawn/dusk I reckon a fixed 4x or 3-9 would serve you better and still be good enough for short range blasting at a local match. Maybe you give up some speed at the range, but you don't sacrifice performance where there is an animal on the pokey end of the stick instead of cardboard.

I do prefer midlength from shooting friends' ARs.
Right now I'm just trying to find advice on what twist-rate/type of barrel I should get. From what I can tell 1/8 seems to be the most versatile, but 1/7 is the most common, next to 1/9.
Are there any downsides to 1/8? I'm not gonna be shooting anything lighter than 55gr but may shooting heavier grains at some point.
Are there any disadvantages to SS barrel compared to a traditional one?

From what I can tell the only disadvantage of stainless is the looks.
Some people say that chrome lined is more durable but It's negligible, the military is putting more stainless barrels in service too so there's that.
Should be slightly more accurate as well.
If you are gonna ride her hard I would get chrome lined, but for regular shooting the stainless will serve quite well on paper.
Also the pic related graph is a good baseline.
That's just my opinion though man. Go with your gut.
