Let's see them Scatgats!

Also, help me out please.
Looking at buying a +3 extension for my 870 20GA...
The extension is blued, and my gun is matt black.
Could I spray paint it liberally for a good finish?

Use Alumihyde.

And hand it in from of a space heater, it works better.

I bought that whole shotgun with the pistol grip and wood stock from a collector's website that I'm scared will get too popular if I mention it here.

Mossberg 185 bolt-action shotgun. 20ga, whopping 2-round box magazine. Literally no idea what the point of having a box mag is when the only ones that were ever produced are a measly 2 rounds.... One of these days i'll figure out some way to make a 10-round extended mag and it'll be awesome. Only issue is these haven't been produced since the 60's (?) so I'd need either some major metal-bending skills or like 5 spare mags (at about $80 apiece) to weld together to make a bigger one...
>>

My stevens 350.i just discovered it has scratches and a few pits inside the barrel.oddly it was brand new in box, still covered in factory grease.I might have to send it in for warranty if it affects accuracy or my safety.

The box mag was easier/cheaper than a tube at the time. Savage/Stevens did something similar.

They are, but it's severely uncommon to find them--nowadays it's all about the black polymer furniture.

The only real way to purchase a wooden stock for a Mossberg after getting your Mossberg is to buy aftermarket through Gun Broker or eBay or another third party site.
>>
>>28466456
You can order Model 500s with wood stocks, including the Classic.

Last one I bought was from Sportsman's Guide.
>>

City-boy who married into a country family with land. Father-in-law has repeatedly asked me to go bird hunting, but I've never hunted fowl before.

1. If I started training on trap now, would that translate well into hunting dove next season?

2. I only have a 22" Mossberg 930. Would this be of suitable length for hunting with a tight choke?

3. I understand I'm supposed to have no more than 3 shells in the shotgun in Texas. Will a game warden accept using a wooden dowel to limit my tube magazine to 2 shells?
>>
>>28466618
Trap will help, but try to find a sporting clays course. If you do shoot trap, try shooting from a low ready.

22" is fine, so long as you can comfortably shoot dove with the shorter sight plane.

The dowel is fine.

How does /k/ feel about birdshead grips on shotguns? I was thinking about getting one for my full-length Mossberg 590.
>>
>>28466875
I don't like it. I think a full stock looks incredible and adds the classic shotgun look to all scatter guns. that being said If you have already a couple shotties by all means
>>
>>28466875

It'll hurt, but if you can handle it, why not? Better than a pistol grip in my opinion.
>>

How do you like the DP12?
>>
>>28466243

Don't be a faggot dude. If you aren't willing to help your faggot internet friends, who are you really?
>>
>>28466972
It's pretty good.

I agree with the consensus that the build quality is exceptional. While most would imagine reliability issues with something as odd as the DP-12, the quality of it mitigates problems.

It is very fun to shoot and the trigger is excellent for a bullpup. In it's role as a home defense gun, it would be great. I have no issues cycling it with any shells or in any environment.

On the cons, it is heavy, especially when loaded, though I don't find it encumbering when using it for hunting and walking a couple miles with it. The odd design leads new users to short stroke it or weakly stroke it everytime, leaving them to run back to their 870 hugbox. Also, the price is higher than the KSG or UTS-15.

Other than that, it gets a lot of stares and a fair bit of Fudd hate.

My mossberg 930 seems to have trouble feeding the first round from a full mag. Do you guys think that's just the mag spring being too stiff and strong and will go away over time, or is it something else?

This is a new gun, and my first auto-anything.
>>
>>28470385
Is it an extended mag tube? I have a similar issue with my 930, but a bit of use has it working okay.
