Yes, for two main reasons:
1. Less time spent loading mags at the range = more time shooting at the range.
2. You can easily load mags with one with gloves on (good for those pesky crime scene investigators, also good if you don't like dirty fingers)

Hand loading magazines gives me time to reflect on my previous grouping. Very zen

Between my AR, AK, and Makarov, I've never had a problem or complaint with loading mags, but then

1) I've never owned a modern double stack pistol
2) I've been a mechanic for 10 years, so my hands are pretty strong/dextrous
3) I pre-load all my mags the night before while drinking and bullshitting, so I have to as little re-loading at the range as possible (8 AR mags, 5 AK mags)

it just makes things a lot faster. I can load a mag just fine with my hands, but using uplulas is nice. great if you want want to unload a mag too. I fucking hate unloading ar mags.

I have pretty strong hands, I rarely have issues loading mags. That being said, I see people with thinner or smaller hands struggle. It's up to you. Personally, I like to load slowly anyhow it gives me a few minutes to think about where I'm hitting, why I'm fucking up, and what to work on. It also manages my ammo better so I'm not out in 15 minutes.
But not everyone has that kind of time or gorilla warfare hands and I do own one for those types. They appreciate it.

Unless you are specifically going for speedshooting, you should only fire about 10 rounds and then stop to re-evaluate your grip/stance/grouping/etc.
Going up to the line and firing 30 rounds and only hitting well 8 times is a waste of 22 rounds. If you're putting 30 rounds in a well defined group then you should move the target further back and challenge yourself.

tl;dr: more bullets in your gun =/= well spent range time.

I like the cheapo one piece proprietary ones, I get them for every make of gun that I have. That way I can seat the rounds all the way back and if I am with someone else they can load mags for the gun I let them shoot too.
