>>

why? Nigger buy a pair of goddamn shoes.
>>
They used to be good. They recently became cheap because they are more for fashion now. I reccommend red wings Irish setters or chippiwas I have both. Irish setters are lighter.
>>
I have 2 pairs of timberlands.
1 steel toe pair for work.
1 regular pair I wear when I ride my motorcycle.
Great boots.
For hiking or ruck marches though I use a pair of raichles.
They're about 17 years old.
My dad was issued them in the airforce way back then.
I grew into his size and he gave them to me. The tread is still decent and they've held up all this time.
They must have over a thousand miles worth of his ruck marches and my hiking.
I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pass them on to my son when the time comes.
I looked for new pairs but they're pretty fucking expensive.
Worth it though
>>
>>28456176
I have a pair of Striker Torrents, wear them ATV'ing and just around town, had them 8 months and they look new.

>>
Anybody have boot recommendations for security? I walk 8+ hours a day on concrete. It's often icy. I was using some like 20$ boots from big 5, they lasted like 5 months before just falling apart completely, worked just fine before that though.

I don't need to look like a badass, they don't need to look pretty, I don't need them for operating in the jungle/snow/forest/mountains/desert, they just need to not kill my knees and feet.
>>
Anyone here have Merrells? Picked up a pair of the hybrid hiking boot/shoes whatever you call them. They are comfy as fuck and seem durable. Probably good for hunting in warm weather, biking, and light innawoodsing or fishing. I'm not trying to ask too much out of them, have real boots for those.

Anyone have any experience with this brand? Pros and cons?

I got some for christmas, receipt said 210$. I think they're really nice quality.Look okay with some 5:11 pants, or jeans. Also went hiking/hunting in them once, it was about 15-20 degrees f out and I was wearing 1 pair of wool socks. Wish I would've worn 2 pairs cause my toes got a bit frosty. I give them a 7/10 for operatorness. Can go from chillin in the mall to operating in the woods.

I should add that I use my dad's Danner Combat Hikers for hiking though. He was issued them innafghan pic related. I rate these 8/10 only because the sole is starting to break off. Also they're not waterproof. I really like the materials the upper is made out of. Supper supple leather, but tough and durable too. Specially made for afghanistan mountains.

however, looking for wp, non safety toe boots that basically don't bend in the sole - have arthritic big toe, and I can't keep wearing a moon boot innawoods. everything else will have me silently screaming within a mile, and can't confirm that a $400 insert is going to work

any suggestions?

OP if you're like me, you'd buy what ever would work and would last. Timberlands would do both. Fuck what ever people now a days wear them for, that fad will pass. Tims are quality boots, and while not great for running, they are awesome work boots. They've been know for being quality work boots before they were know as a fashion accessory.

No cowboy/western boots? They may not be highspeed lowdrag enough for you mallninjas out there, but a good $150+ pair or Ariats, Justin's, or Tony Lama's will literally last a lifetime so long as you keep 'em oiled. Cowboy boots can also be resoled and repaired. The justin's are going to be more traditional(smooth leather soled) but Ariat and Tony Lama make 'western style work boots' that have rubber lugged and tractioned bottoms and cushioned footbeds that are meant for construction workers who walk on concrete/rebar all day.

A good pair of cowboy boots will mold to your feet and after a lengthy breakin they are literally the most comfy footwear you will own. Plus they slip on! I have a pair of Justins (leather soled) i have had for about ten years that i reserve for two stepping/riding horses/fishing on nice days. And a pair of waterproof Ariats that are western work boots with rubber soles that i wear hunting/hiking/innawoodsing/getting dirty. Only drawback i have found with cowboy boots in the woods is one coming off in deep mud once in a while, but you're supposed to stay out of the mud anyways so that's your fault. Here in based /k/ansas they work well and look great, ladies love country boys

I know someone's already answered this for you, but I might be able to give a more...up to date answer as a 19 y/o Black guy.

Basically, it became a "Black" thing in the early 00's. Fast fforward to now, and race doesn't really factor into fashion anymore, more like what your personal style is, who you are, what you are. Now Timberland boots are a street fashion thing. They're just really common depending on where you are. Especially now that Timberland boots come in colors like blue (different shades) and red (only seen one shade of red suede Timberland's.

Hope this helped.

Honestly, I know what you mean. Doesn't bother me much. But if it does bother you, you're not alone. Nothing wrong with wearing work boots everywhere, I live in NC. So that's common here. But if you live around a lot of stereotypical hipster-types; you might not want to do that because they might straight up starting wearing those exact same boots everywhere.
>>
>>28456750
Just checked, they aren't actually Timberlands. They're Kings-something, can't remember.
>>
>>28465815
Exactly my point though, it's not about race as much as who you are. It makes sense that a white women who doesn't have a problem with dating outside their own race would wear Timberland's.

Just like how it makes sense that an Asian person who likes Hip-Hop music and identifies with the culture would wear Timberland's.

Like I said, it's less about race and more about who/what you are and identify with/as.
>>
>>28465856
I live in a university town so all the ones that use those kinds of boots are some kind of leftist-feminazi-SJW-xim person and I really dont want to be associated with those people so I might just have to change shoes. >>

>>
>>28465916
Very understandable, I'm personally more of an SJW-ish type of person; but I get it. Different strokes for different folks.

I live in a small town now, and I can't wait to move to a place more like what you want to get away from. Which sounds REALLY odd for someone who browses an image board that revolves around guns and military gear. But it's who I am.

Anyway, life's too short to not live the lifestyle you prefer. You should move back to your preferred environment when you're ready ("ready" in this case probably meaning graduating since you mentioned Uni).
>>
>>28465956
It's not even me that has to be ready, I moved here because of my GF since she wanted a higher education but as soon as I start on my new job Im getting a loan and buying a house far enough from the city for me to feel comfortable and for her to be able to go to school.

What if you're white, hate "street culture" and only wear Timberlands because someone bought you a pair and didn't know better?

Also, can /k/ recommend me a decent pair of boots for general wear, innawoods stuff and occasionally operating in the $300 range?

In the same boat as you, just spend $20 every six months, save good boots for stuff you enjoy. Write off shit boots as work expense.
