Considering that in The fall of reach they mentioned how yes John was incredibly strong as with the rest of the spartans but the armor increased their reactions, strength and speed by a marginal amount.
For just other humans, the armor is probably best to basically make our soldiers invincible.

They were then shoved into mass produced, shoddy at best, armor, with the likes of Noble Six being given special variants that had active shielding, then were handed mass produced Oni weaponry, then thrown at the Covenant.

They didn't have an AI.

They didn't have the super human machinery that made the II's so much better and stronger.

They didn't have nearly the same amount of support the II's did.

They had each other.

Which is why 6 is better than Chief in every regard.

So they sold the Halo IP to them in order to become an independent company again (I believe they had to make Reach as part of that deal, before they left, can't remember the particulars)

When it came time to split, Bungie studio basically tore in half. Those that stayed to work on Halo formed the core of 343. Basically it was a promotion to a higher position.

Core members who split off that stayed at Bungie made Destiny, which the contract with Activision slowly gutted them into a husk of what they once were. They got rid of their lead writers, and even tried to fire Marty so hard they illegally stripped him of his stock options, which were basically immediately returned once it hit an arbitrator

In the end we have two half studioes making two completely bullshit IPs. Halo 4 was shit for various reasons, but had some redeeming factors and they eventually patched the multiplayer to be not complete dogshit.

It's amazing how much this is true in terms of the content that both studios produce.

343i's halo misses so much of what the previous games did as games and as stories that it feels like a nock off, or takes itself too seriously.

And Bungies Destiny has neat lore and flavor text that harkens back to their Marathon days but it's just not in the game, both item wise (like dark souls) or gameplay wise.

I'll never understand why they left. They didn't want to be stuck under Microsofts thumb, so they signed to be under Activisions for 10 years? After they took the Guitar Hero IP from the people who created it (and gave it to the people who killed Tony Hawk) and also illegally fired the men who made their biggest franchise.

I'll never understand these decisions. Was there not a way to have Microsoft bankroll a new Bungie IP and give them the freedom to do it? Why sign with Activision on an oppressive 10 year plan when you have the brand power to sign with any publisher in the industry and create whatever you want and retain creative rights. The ex Infinity Ward guys who went to Respawn cut a deal with Electronic Arts - EA can't fuck with the IP, can't tell them what to do, can't alter the shit, and Respawn gets to keep Titanfall. EA just bankrolls it and profits from it until the end of time.

Could Bungie not get a similar deal? Why sign for 10 years? You were tired of Halo after less than 10 years, why do Halo 2.0 for 10 years?

None of this shit makes sense and it speaks of corporate greed. As a result we got:
