when you shoot your not supposed to rest the barrel directly on something cause it throws off accuracy

assuming these people are smart enough to use the sights if they were sticking the gun through a hole or something less barrel would stick out

smart people dont rest the gun on anything and stand a few feet behind the hole and shoot through it but that takes skill
you still see plenty of barrels sticking out walls or windows by idiots

you are putting pressure on the barrel in a inconsistent way that will vary between shots

what you want to do is rest the stock or handguard never the barrel itself

its why free floating a barrel increases accuracy
nothing touches the barrel and there is less intereferance

You put the end of the barrel on a wall and essentially whole weight of the rifle is no longer supported by your hand/arm but by the barrel itself.
This heats up, bends, warps and throws everything off
