Can /k/ please help figure out why the muzzles are all taped up on theses AK's? Pulled this from the Syria info thread on /pol. Also, let's post up wartorn AK's. No civilian stuff, only AK's actually being used in combat.
I thought that too, but the tape really isn't covering the muzzle, at least not on that slant brake.
Regardless, thats the only potential believable reason I could think of.
I dont think even dune coons are retarded enough to believe they're effective suppressors, especially after shooting it once.
They're chewing on some shit called Khat or Qat, its a bunch of green leaves that they chew on to stay awake and alert, kind of like chewing on coca leaves. Some yemeni dickhead that owns a shop near my house always offers it to me, but I dont think he realizes that its highly illegal.
they could be using it as a handguard
fuck knows why you would want to hold it there but it makes more sense than its a suppressor
could also be a cushion for the gun so the barrel doesnt directly contact a wall as they fire over it
Dunno why contacting a wall while you fire would be an issue without padding but I can practically guarantee nobosy is going to find holding the muzzle ergonomic or non-painful after sustained fire
I dunno, kebabs gonna kebab I guess.
We've also all seen how these guys shoot. It's not from a supported firing position. Dude on the far right back has tape all up and down his SVD/PSL. When I originally saw it I thought they were rifle grenades, then I was like wtf it's tape.
My guess is for better concealment. Breaking the lines.
They might not know better, but sticking out a window or brush it wouldn't be nearly as recognizable.
In this way, I find the black tape would be less effective.
when you shoot your not supposed to rest the barrel directly on something cause it throws off accuracy
assuming these people are smart enough to use the sights if they were sticking the gun through a hole or something less barrel would stick out
smart people dont rest the gun on anything and stand a few feet behind the hole and shoot through it but that takes skill
you still see plenty of barrels sticking out walls or windows by idiots
Sidewalk gunsmith special. The trigger group, bolt carrier and magazines are quite probably the only actual AK parts.
you are putting pressure on the barrel in a inconsistent way that will vary between shots
what you want to do is rest the stock or handguard never the barrel itself
its why free floating a barrel increases accuracy
nothing touches the barrel and there is less intereferance
You put the end of the barrel on a wall and essentially whole weight of the rifle is no longer supported by your hand/arm but by the barrel itself.
This heats up, bends, warps and throws everything off
This is the most reasonable idea thus far. Thank you.
