Post guns or other weapons you purchased because "you seen a scary critter"

Pic related : "i saw a bear near my house"

You Stupid FUCK, unless you live near a large population of Grizzly Bears you don't need to shoot bear, ever. You most likely live in the lower United States, which means you probably saw a Black Bear. You realize you can scare away a black bear by yelling at it, or banging pans. At the most, you have to shoot in the air. If it does come down to a bear charging you, even this magnum wont help you.
>>
>>28433496
you probably believe that moose are docile creatures as well and that if they attack you "you're provoking them"
>>
>>28433384
I've never seen a scary critter

I bought same gun.
Why yours all scratched though?

Why not a 500 or 454?
>>

.44mag is a classic, a gentleman's round and a 629 is big and heavy and expensive enough as is.
>>
>>28433557
Another reason to not go with a supermagnum is that by the time your pistol reaches that size you'd might as well just get a Micro-Draco instead and have 30 rifle rounds instead of 5 handgun rounds.

>.44mag is a classic, a gentleman's round
Here's a scary critter for you OP: the elusive fuddora

What will a heavier S&W 500 with 5 shots do that a .44mag with 6 shots won't?
>nothing
Furthermore, .44mag is widely available with plenty of commercial hunting loads and reloading supplies available at a moments notice.

.50AE is a clown caliber and while I have nothing against .500mag or .454casul they don't really bring anything else to the table. My .44mag is loaded with +p 300 grain slugs and will drop anything on the north American continent.
Furthermore, the gun is for backpacking. I've paid thousands of dollars for clothing/tenting/gear that is lighter and better because when you're hiking several thousand feet elevation changes the .44mag is already heavier.

I am the biggest baddest thing in the forest and always be. Nothing against bear spray and it's true that keeping a proper campsite will all but eliminate the threats that bear generally bring. However, I will be the biggest baddest thing in the jungle and you will not be. You dickless loser.

Rumor has it that there are cougar south of me. MN DNR says they aren't there, but everyone else says they are.

with bears stopping power really matters. if you are talking about a 20 round vepr or PSL that's a viable option.

>>28433768
that's pretty sweet

>>28433978
i saw a cougar once on a bluff when I was a kid, scared the shit out of me.

Really? I mean, I know the government lies, but.. the DNR does too?
>>
>>28434035
i've had DNR tell me no shooting on any land anywhere while at the same time standing on public land where it's 100% legal and other DNR officers have told me it's ok

Yep, fuck 'em, they told me there was no black bear up in Cass County near my farm, and Lord behold I had one bum rush me. My gramps gave me his S&W .500 as a gift to deal with those fucking bears though. Pic related.

Uh.. I'm placing that on you. Fucking everyone knows there's bear up there. I haven't been up there in years and I know it.

You live somewhere there is bears you should have already had a bear stopper. I bet you won't think about a CC until I make sweet love to that butthole behind the 7-11.
>>
>>28434198
It was my first time in MN, I had just acquired the land from my Grandfather and had little to no knowledge about the area. Had a DNR officer come up and talk to me near a lake I was looking at fishing on. I honestly think he blatantly lied to me when I asked him that. That's Minnesota nice for ya.
>>
>>28433978
I've never heard of cats that size in MN.
Coyotes I hear about them now even in the cities.

>>28434405
North MN is one of the most densely populated areas with black bears. There was a news story a while back of one catching some hunters and the guy getting mauled managed to stop it with a glocknade.
