You are suddenly dropped into the middle of the battle of Stalingrad. The battle is at it's peak and the fighting in the city is fierce, the Russians cling to the edge of the Volga.
You must survive the battle whilst staying inside the city, until the 6th Army is encircled and destroyed in the open Steppe. Only then can you return home to the present day.
Before you begin your time travel escapade you have three options to choose from which will help you survive...
>Option A: You have a platoon of crack Waffen SS soldiers for your protection, they have been on the Eastern Front since June 22nd 1941 and are experienced in the harsh realities of combat on the Eastern Front. They are equipped with the weaponry of the time period. You are unarmed.
>Option B: You have a squad of modern day British SAS at your disposal, they number 8 men. They have all the training of a modern day special forces unit, but are equipped with appropriate weaponry for the time period. You are unarmed.
>Option C: You go it alone. You are lost in the ruins of Stalingrad with no protection, but there is a catch. You have access to all modern day weapons and personal equipment, M4s, plate carriers, night vision. Are you operator enough to survive?
A is best.
36 bodies is way better than the 8 you'd get with option B especially when they all have roughly the same equipment. The SAS training may be better, but their tactics are formed around the capability of current gear. Without their modern day tools they'd largely be as effective as anyone else.
If I have as much time as it took me to think about it before I leave, I will make a note saying
>Mы бopeмcя зa вac c coюзникaми и cтaли oтдeляютcя oт нaших cил . Mы хoтим , чтoбы пoмoчь Coвeтcкий Coюз бopьбы cвoих фaшиcтcких yгнeтaтeлeй , пoжaлyйcтa, нaм кoмaндиpy , чтoбы oтвeтить нa любыe вoпpocы , вы мoжeтe имeть .
and find the nearest Soviet soldiers with my hands raised and speaking loudly and clearly in english.
Provided the SAS are in full uniform and carrying identification I will get them to help me figure out a way to bullshit the Russians until the siege breaks.
If you know German or Russian you should be good
>not wanting to solid sank
fuck being unarmed like a cuck.
i choose option c with a suppressed 16 inch recce rifle, leupold mark 6 1-6 with armasight clip on thermal. atlas bipod. 77 grain smk's. suppressed glock 21. im operating on faggots until they bring the artillery down on me.
>Find red army
>Bring weapons of technological wonder to the Red Army
>Take multiple copies, cause I know they will fuck up the first ones
>Russians then crush Germany with their super weapons
>Global Gommunism :DDDD
>Only then can you go back home.
>implying I would want to leave this place
>Locate Red Army officer and inform him we are British, and thus his allies, and (somehow) ended up in a Soviet city
>Request to meet with an ambassador to the UK to arrange a safe haven until we can be sent back to jolly old England
>Get shot in face by Nagant revolver because the Commissar you are talking to is drunk, angry, and cannot understand English
A is a good way to get killed. Aside from language barriers, there's a good guarantee that they'll kill me for either being dead weight or suspicion for working with the enemy. With B, I get to work with people that could understand my language and guarantee my survival and escape from the city, I just gotta follow their lead and trust their experience. C is pretty seductive to me, because I would like to introduce some American calibers to the eastern front and have some protection from the ones already being used, but I don't know shit that's in and about Stalingrad, and both sides will kill me for sure with little questioning.
B the SAS dudes are probably going to be a much better bet of getting the fuck out of Stalingrad and over to Turkey or something so we don't get gutted by slav scum or nazi piggus. I'm sure as fuck not getting out myself I'm only a passable marksman and have the survival skills of a chick out the egg and the SS dudes aren't going to want to accompany me out.
only you have to stay in the city
so you can take any moderen, 60ies or 70 ies gear puls shit loads of data on a laptop and extra hard drives.
then just hope you can link up to your army of choice and change the face of history buy getting all that dank tech and other info out of that shithole.
Make my way to german command and explain my story, get sent to leaders and tell them everything I can remember, help the reich win the war, be sent back to my time a national hero
Waffen SS die just as easy as anyone else.
Aditionally, there were no Waffen-SS at Stalingrad, but that just me being persnickity.
b) Brtish SAS die just as easy as anyone else.
c) You'll die just as easy as anyone else.
Pro-tip: you, the waffen ss and the SAS are most likely going to be killed by shrapnel/arty/mortars/katyushas/bombs, not small arms.
Not a bad idea but how do you plan on speaking with the leaders without getting shot? Be it during your approach or execution, it's worth keeping in mind that the soldiers there will be under high pressure and likely feeling a little trigger happy.
Also do you actually have anything to offer them or just tell them what they're missing out on and what it looks like and expect them to know how to build it?
>Speak fluent German
>take option C
>get stuffed with gear
>run to the closest German headquarters
>tell them I'm a time traveler
>proof it with the gear
>turn all my gear in for reverse engineering
>get shot in a trench by an SS cleanup squad
Option A. Find a weapon and fight with my SS brothers. Anything else would be heresy and the Fuhrer would have my head.
No intent to survive, only to do my duty for Fuehrer, Volk, and Vaterland, and take as many Bolshevik savages with me as possible.
Jesus fuck, on a level of 1 to fucking potato how useless do you have to be to not be able to connect a laptop to a suitable charging source?
Have you never spliced power cables before?
All these posters breaking the OPs rules about staying in that shithole till february.
Anyway, option c. Keeping anymore than yourself fed would be hard. Staying warm with 21 century clothing would make the cold less of an issue.
With night vision you could move at night to find food and maneuver to hopefully quieter parts of the city.
Weaponry is prolly the least important of all the things you could bring with you to that debacle. The elements and lack food would kill you first
The only good Bolsheviki is a dead one and they don't kill themselves fast enough
An ar15 with aimpoint, can, light, and peq box
A plate carrier
A bump helmet with nods.
Dark blue/grey uniform
Travel only at night, get as far out of the city as I can
I'll take B if I can handle the bantz. The main problem will be food and supplies.
Once I get out, find Stauffenberg and make sure he does the job right, then help Germany as much as possible technologically (semiconductors, etc)
Use my position to advocate for an alliance with America.
Some half staved Russian conscript will probably trip over you at some point, curse, and shoot you in the face by accident.
Or artillery will paste you out of nowhere with no chance of evasion or survival.
Then we're all pretty much just running in the rain at that point then huh? Slow and steady with enough patience and haste and you should be able to avoid dying to random shrapnel pinata.
Travel by night. Avoid recently fought over areas. Be aware of your surroundings. Listen. Do you not have any ability to take initiative and think about how you'd survive? Why is this hard for you?
Yeah, because they'll definitely be on the lookout for rocks slithering through rubble at night and not a company of SS or squad of SAS operators.
If I'm sticking to the rules of the post by staying inside the city until the end of the battle, then I'd choose B.
I'd convince the SAS lads to try and stay alive in the city with me for as long as we could, it's also easier in numbers and I'm sure there'd be food and supplies we could scavenge. The SAS will have training in this as oppose to me knowing fuck all. We could probably find some good condition abandoned building to take refuge in and use as living space, preferably somewhere on the outskirts which won't get hit by arty.
> I'm sure there'd be food and supplies we could scavenge
> In Stalingrad
> We could probably find some good condition abandoned building to take refuge
> On Eastern Front
> Outskirts which wont get hit by arty
> In Russia
Take two dufflebags of PVS 14s and batteries, along with a few history books on Soviet military troop movements and composition, along with some textbooks on how to make remote controls, rocketry and the blueprints for the AKM. Give it to the Germans in exchange for my safety. I like alternate history. Best case the Germans still lose WW2 after destroying the Soviet Union. I can live with making that change in history.
you have to survive, not fight
that's your real advantage
me and my SS buddies are finding an out of the way place and digging a really big hole somewhere where we won't get shelled so badly
and we're going to stay in that hole
If 100 Kommando Spezialkräfte, or insert whatever elite fighting force you want, was attached to the Germany army from the start of the battle, would Germany have won Stalingrad? Yes, modern technology. Unlimited logistics for ammo, batteries, whatever is needed for their modern gear.
You plebs dont know how to do things.
>bring along an M4 SOCOM and a truck full of as much nukes as I can fit
>bust through Russian lines, make it to Moscow
>set up a nuke in the Kremlin
>make it to St. Petersburg and set one up there
>drive back to Moscow, set the rest up there
>look at my brotheren in their eyes as I heil hitla
>detonate nukes as I fire off my only magazine from my M4 as an American flag flies behind me, along side a Swastika, but still higher
>get a blow job from a qt Russian for my last moments on earth
>get teleported back
>Russia isn't even a household name anymore
>its just America
>the nazis are still around, took over britbongistanoland
>mo more commies
>no more cucks
>life is good
SCAR H with elcan
Mk 23 with LAM and KAC suppressor
solar mat charger for the Garmin
the closest thing DARPA has to a Crysis nanosuit.
R8 my survivability
(though supposedly satellite-less what-you-call-it is being worked on)
Actually, I suppose you could construct local triangulation towers or something... What are we using a single tracking device for anyway?
Would use it to track elevation and miles traveled if those worked without satellites. Not to try to escape the city but to try to keep a bearing on how far I've gone. Now that I think about it I would probably be better off with a map compassion and pace beads until I found a safe space underground to set up camp. Opinions on the other gear?
>durrr you never spliced power cables hurrr
Why the fuck would I have to, I don't buy the wrong cables like a mong.
>finding a nice convenient wall socket amongst the shattered bones of a dead city
They objectively weren't. I'd pick an elite Heer division anytime.
They ran about the place charging headlong into fights and having to be extracted from them by the regular army in Poland.
They basically got in the way, hogged arms and armor that would have been better spent in the regular army and regularily recieved better treatment due to a bias against the regular military.
The only thing they had going for them was their fanatacism, then again the 90 odd % of Japanese soldiers had that, don't see anyone hailing them as super heroes.
>blow up Moscow
>blow up St. Petersburg
>sit on cloud, harp in hand and watch the Soviets bulldoze the Germans all the way to Berlin using the vast reserves of manpower, armor and manufacturing capacity that aren't in Moscow or St. Perersberg.
stalin would probably put you in jail for being a spy or some other shit
I have run all my computers on non-grounded outlets for 15+ years.
Worst you are ever gonna notice from it is 115v tingles if you touch bare metal on the computer case and a radiator or something at the same time.
>>finding a nice convenient wall socket amongst the shattered bones of a dead city
Why would you try to plug it in and work in Stalingrad during the battle?
GTFO of there, find whatever nation you want to give the information to, then set up electrical for it once you are well away from the front lines.
Even better, bring a car charger and put together a battery bank to power it.
>we are fighting for you and have been separated from our forces. we want to help the ussr fight off the fascist invaders, we can answer any questions you might have. the last part is broken russian, straight outta google translate. the rest is pretty passable
